Burnley man gets 5 year banning order for offensive chanting

Post by ŽižkovClaret » Mon Feb 19, 2024 3:42 pm

Burnley man who engaged in tragedy chanting in Manchester United fixture given football banning order
A Burnley man who engaged in tragedy chanting prior to Burnley Football Club’s fixture with Manchester United has been given a five-year Football Banning Order (FBO).

Billy Rambadt was standing outside a pub in Yorkshire Street, Burnley, at 5-32pm on September 23rd when he commited the offence.

As a group of Manchester United fans walked past 27-year-old Rambadt, he shouted ‘Munich’ and raised his arms in an aeroplane gesture – a reference to the 1958 Munich Air Disaster.

Agreed. Can’t call him a Burnley fan, just an embarrassment to the club and the town.

Absolutely. At 27 it's about time he grew up too.

Do you have to be well behaved to be classed as a Burnley fan?

I have always been baffled when someone misbehaves and someone always cries out, they weren't proper fans.

Who decides and what are the standards?

Seems like quite a bit goes through their heads, its the lack of much sticking in there that tends to be the trouble

In the eyes of the law, yes, you do have to be well behaved.

Making references to Club tragedies clearly falls well short of being well behaved.

I can't believe I'm having to explain that!

He can be called a fan.......just a prick of one
It's obvious he's a fan or the punishment of a banning order for watching the club is pointless.

I think you misunderstand.

I'm pointing out, just because someone misbehaves, we can't say they're not a fan.

You can slag them off for their behaviour, but you can't denounce them from being a Burnley supporter.

Maybe so, but who are we ti choose who can be and who can't be?

If anyone goes to prison, can they no longer be a supporter of their club?

A few years ago there was one of these. It was the JHL lower, the section nearest the Cricket Field Stand.

Chanting horrible things reinforces the dreadful stereotypes that we're sadly associated with, so yes they deserve not to be considered a fan as they're contributing to our reputation being damaged. Surely a true fan wouldn't wish to do that to their club?

If it's for a football related offence, preferably not.

I can't believe you're defending someone like this. Are you his brief? Maybe pushpinpussy was unavailable? 😆

I'm not defending him. I'm disputing the fact that people like him are denounced as being fans of the club when misbehaving.

Definitely. That too must be classed as abusive chanting? On a par with racist or homophobic chanting in my opinion.

I don't think the law sees it that way unfortunately, unless it's aimed at rovers fans.

It was quite loud, as I heard it, and I sit a long way from the stand it came from

At least the jammy bugger has got out of going on the Turf .
Agree with the earlier comments though, how moronic I just cannot get into the mindset of people who think singing about tragedies is somehow acceptable, funny, relevant or however they try to justify it to themselves.
