Re: Joe Hart
Not bad at all. Crazy to think at one time only a few years ago he was one of the best keeping teams in Europe. And it was here…
Re: Joe Hart
Good solid keeper throughout his career, Pep destroyed his confidence IMHO. Bit of a mixed bag for us but he was up against real cult heroes.

I wasn't sure, but wasn't he out injured when we called on Joe Hart?

Re: Joe Hart
Suffered a huge drop in confidence and form when Pep ditched him
Glad he’s had a good ending to his career being at Celtic
Didn’t realise he’s only one of 3 players to have won all three domestic competitions in both England and Scotland, Sir Kenny Dalglish and Andrei Kanchelskis being the others

Re: Joe Hart
I’ll get my tin hat on but honestly thought he was one of the worst goalkeepers I’ve seen play for Burnley (been watching 25 years before anyone asks). I had zero confidence in his ability that season. Thank god Heaton came back in. He has had a great career though, shame it tailed off towards the end but I suppose he will see finishing at Celtic as a high point.

Burnley keepers worse than Joe Hart in the last 25 yearscolne-claret wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2024 10:47 pmI’ll get my tin hat on but honestly thought he was one of the worst goalkeepers I’ve seen play for Burnley (been watching 25 years before anyone asks). Beresford
Coyne
Michopoulous
Jensen
Cennamo
Grant
Crichton
Kiraly
Muric
Trafford
By no means exhaustive. I could just as easily have put every keeper bar Pope and Heaton.

A bizarre and unneeded signing for us.

Re: Joe Hart
A great career, but agreed a an odd one for us. Outrageous he was ahead of Heaton in the pecking order but was thankfully rectified.
Re: Joe Hart
Agree not had a bad career. I remember Nick Pope saying when you’re training it’s usually alongside the reserve keeper and/or one from the youth team along with Billy Mercer. He went on to say there was him, Tom Heaton and Joe Hart with Billy Mercer, he said the level of training and standard was unbelievable, something you rarely get. I wish Joe Hart all the best in his retirement.

Re: Joe Hart
My memory ain’t what it should be, but I don’t remember it that way. Wasn’t Heaton out for an injury and Hart stepped in and kept the jersey until Tom found his way back in?Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 8:11 amA great career, but agreed a an odd one for us. Hart wasn’t bad for us. His biggest “crime” being that he wasn’t Tom Heaton.

Re: Joe Hart
So that’s a “no” then…
Re: Joe Hart
He was winning MOTM and POTM on UTC pretty much right until Heaton came back in. Hart wasn't the problem that season.

Re: Joe Hart
It does then beg the question why Dyche, hardly a manager prone to making changes, dropped him? And why the results started coming after he was dropped.
As we’ve seen this season, good shot stopping can sometimes cloud what the keeper is bringing to the table elsewhere.

Re: Joe Hart
I'm in the camp that thinks he was good for us and not the problem. Was he not dreadful in the Everton game before being dropped though? I remember the free kick that should have been a routine save for any goalie.

Good shot-stopping is absolutely the first and foremost requirement for a goalkeeper.

Re: Joe Hart
It’s an important requirement but there are other requirements which you can’t just forget about. Trafford is a good shot stopper - has that been enough this season? Command of area particularly important under Dyche, was Hart strong on that front?boatshed bill wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 9:55 pmGood shot-stopping is absolutely the first and foremost requirement for a goalkeeper.
I still don’t think Dyche drops a player, especially the keeper, after one poor performance especially if he’s been winning player of the month awards. Maybe he thought the dynamic wasn’t working.

This, I would imagine.

No issues with Hart on commanding his area.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 10:07 pmIt’s an important requirement but there are other requirements which you can’t just forget about. Re: Joe Hart
Glued to his line. He was the total wrong keeper for the style of football we played - evident because he didn't particularly play 'badly', made some really good saves at times but just didn't complement the team.
To me it's very similar to our current situation but I won't start.
Great career for Joe and he's going out on a high.

Re: Joe Hart
Heaton stuck to his line just as much as Hart did. There's only really been Pope who would come out and claim crosses in terms of our recent goalkeeping history.
