It’s amazing what being abit more presentable does for you, Luton are very much like us when we came up with dyche but because dyche was the face of it, he never got the respect or recognition the way Edwards is. I don’t see Luton ever finishing top 10 never mind 7th

A £23m spend and we have seen some of the most spirited performances seen in the PL this season . His handling of the Tom Lockyer near fatal incident was magnificent. He is for me close to being the PL manager of the season. If they stay up no question

He seems a top bloke and hopefully will have a long and successful managerial career.
Gary O’Neill is another that seems to have a lot going for him, but can’t take to him the same as Rob Edwards. He comes across quite full of himself at times in my opinion.

It will be interesting to see what happens when Luton are struggling and no longer the media darlings.
But, yup, he's done well so far.

For what it’s worth my eldest son used to play football with and against him when he was a teenager. Was a lovely modest lad then and when Villa took him into their academy he didn’t change a bit. Nice lad from a nice family. His dad was a goalkeeper in the League of Wales, smashing bloke.

He comes across really well, I have to say that, and he impressed me with his interview this week after they'd been hammered in the second half at Liverpool. No bullshit, just said it how it was and how difficult it had been for them.Jamesy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 11:44 amIt’s football Tony. Rotten to the core.

Re: Rob Edwards what a classy manager!
Why do we have Luton fans posting on here?
Where were you lot last season when you were 50 points behind Burnley?
They’re nothing we haven’t seen before, just another crap tiny club scraping a few results here and there playing turd lower league football. No different to Blackpool.
When they get relegated who are you fickle fair weather bunch gonna support then? Back to Burnley? or Everton?

Luton and Edwards are so good but we are so rubbish, yet we’ve taken 4 points off them and they needed a last minute rugby punt and foul to nick a goal.
Luton so good, I can’t remember the last time we lost to them.

Re: Rob Edwards what a classy manager!
Blatantly untrue this. Dyche got a lot of respect and still does so when you see his name mentioned by people in the media. The only problem Dyche had is sticking with us too long. Football became more pragmatic, though he still got credit for that, but it pigeon holed him. It will likely hold him back, but Edwards has some way to go before his stock is as high as Dyche's was in the summer of 2018.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 7:40 amIt’s amazing what being abit more presentable does for you, Luton are very much like us when we came up with dyche but because dyche was the face of it, he never got the respect or recognition the way Edwards is. Yes they were a considerable amount of points behind us last season and yet this year have considerably bridged that gap - which is the whole point.
Rob Edwards/Luton have prepared for the league (from a worse starting point) far more effectively than we have, which is both a credit to them and also an indictment on us.
Re: Rob Edwards what a classy manager!
That’s your opinion and I respect it. However I would say they are doing considerably better than us on less resources. They still may go down, but at least they will have made a decent fist of it in doing so.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 1:14 pmWe will have to wait a while before that statement becomes actual fact.

Luton are nothing special, just the 50th plucky minnow we’ve seen get promoted and scrape points playing awful defensive hoofball. They will probably get relegated too, at least the likes of Blackpool and Huddersfield actually managed to survive a year. You must have been creaming over Holloways Blackpool…

How are they playing "defensive hoofball" when they had 62% of the ball at the Turf?
I'm not 'hammering the team I support', just call it how it is.

It’s a bit of a strange take on things, suggesting that fellow supporters are creaming over other teams.KRBFC wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 4:13 pmYou keep banging on about Luton, waxing lyrical about them just to hammer the team you apparently support yet I’m the strange one….

Of all the teams that we probably should compare ourselves against, this season, it’s those that came up alongside us.
Whether you like their style of play or not, it’s pretty fair to suggest that Luton has adapted far better (so far) and done so without making wholesale changes or spending significant sums.
Applauding what a fellow promoted team and their manager has achieved, whilst being critical of the approach that we have taken isn’t surprising - the two are not mutually exclusive. This season has been a bit of a **** show on lots of fronts.
It didn’t take a football genius to see issues ahead, by the end of our summer recruitment. Melodramatic comments about fans preferring other teams and wanting us to do poorly, is just nonsense.

Two big lads upfront and hit it in the box high at every opportunity. We sat back and allowed them to have the ball and they were clueless and toothless.

Kompany possession based attacking football that's resulting in less possession than the opposition and minimal goals ORKRBFC wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 4:13 pmYou keep banging on about Luton, waxing lyrical about them just to hammer the team you apparently support yet I’m the strange one….

Edwards 'hoofball' where they are scoring most games including 4 away at Newcastle and actually having more possession in games than the opposition?

Re: Rob Edwards what a classy manager!
Barkley best player on pitch by a mile.
62% possession
More shots and corners than us.
Better chances.
Various reports saying it was a dogged defensive performance from Burnley.
Think there is only one person who didn’t see the game.
They should have got a least a draw at their place too.
They have performed a lot better than us consistently all season….and tbh they are better to watch too (primarily because of Barkley running most games)

Although maybe more extreme than perhaps I'd put it, I see krbfcs point. I wish some of our supporters would reserve a bit of support and respect for Kompany given what he did last year. And for what it's worth I still think we finish above Luton.

I do wish some fans could see the bigger picture. What is there to be gained by all this negativity? What outcome are they hoping for? There may be questions about the players lack of fight, but it’s nothing compared to the lack of fight shown by some sections of the fanbase.

I don’t think the discussion is about the two games v Luton. I think it is highlighting what a decent job Rob Edwards has done and how he conducts himself.Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 7:21 pmWhilst Barkley was the best player and ran the game, we had more shots on target and a higher Xg. It doesn’t really matter in the general scheme of things how we got on against Luton, we have seriously come up short in all of the other games bar two.

Nah, ill just continue to have the opinion we'll finish above Luton without betting money on it. I agree it's statistically unlikely, it requires us to hit form we haven't hit all season. But our run of games has been horrible, if I was going to bet on it now would be the time.

Burnley 1/6
Luton 4/5
People who feel we will finish above Luton at end of the season are just whistling in the dark and hoping for the best outcome.
