Yes, John Savident 86.
Stalwart of Corrie, of course but starred in many tv and film productions such as Yes, Minister, The Saint, Blake's Seven and even had a part in A Clockwork Orange.

RIP.

Absolutely. The programme currently lacks a big character and Fred was certainly that.

I’m sure I saw him in an old episode of Sharpe the other day.

He was a grand fella, not watched Corrie for many many years, but bumped into him in Manchester and he chatted with no airs or graces, he had a home near the studios next to MOSI Manchester.

Rest in Peace fella, you gave us many laughs.

"I say, I say ASHLEEEEEY"

Funnily enough I was watching Boardwalk Empire earlier and the guy Nucky was wanting on the phone was Fred Elliott!

My first tv job was taking Fred Elliot home in an ambulance after he’d broken his leg on a golf course. When he got home, Maxine was doing a strip tease for Ashley. By ‘eck

Didn't know about his coronation street appearances (ive never watched it) but I remember him playing jumbo in yes minister. He was excellent in those.
