I’m watching the first half hour of Bayer Leverkusen 04 v Mainz 05 waiting for Leeds v Leicester. Currently 1-1.

Top two in the Championship, should be a good game.
Hoping the foxes can quieten the ER crowd.

Re: Tonights footy
I'll admit I'm watching the England versus Austria ladies match.
Austria just pulled one back to make it 2-1 to England.
The commentator said "equaliser"!!!
Where do they get these people from? He isn't even pretending to care!

Re: Tonights footy
Spot on tackle that.
Just seen replay.
Giving a foul, never mind a card then was just wrong.

Putting in a PL ref for these top Championship games never does anyone any favours.

Meslier reminds me of Trafford.Decent shot stopper. Poor distribution and prone to the odd error

top 2, anyone concerned about us next season after watching this ? (I've not watched many other Championship games but I've not been impressed tbh)

Re: Tonights footy
Both Leeds and Leicester look far better than we were last season.
Both want to attack with pace and purpose.
We looked good knocking it about round the back most weeks, but it's what happens in the opposition half that counts.

These are 2 bang average sides - no shots on target for leeds in 45 mins
Leicester relying on a clumsy header from a mistake

Shows how worse the championship is again this seasonQuickenthetempo wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 9:05 pmLeicester are on course to finish 10-15 points higher than us last season.
Leicester havent really had to rebuild - we started with a revamped side and drew a lot of games early doors

Not sure about the championship being worse.
Leicester have a super squad for this level. All very quick players.

And you're right - it is what happens in the opposition half that counts which is why we scored the most goals in the league

Re: Tonights footy
Oh we scored plenty, but I never watched us thinking we were well coached in the final third. Around the back was superb. But we had never seen it before, I'm bored of it now all through the top 2 divisions.matttheclaret wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 9:12 pmI think you're forgetting/downplaying how good we were last season.

Re: Tonights footy
Wow, you know people have a real downer with the club when they're picking fault with last seasons tactics.... I wonder if it was mentioned then how badly our forwards were being coached.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 9:17 pmOh we scored plenty, but I never watched us thinking we were well coached in the final third. Re: Tonights footy
I don’t like this argument about the quality of the Championship: it’s always a high standard. However, it’s the quality on show in the Premier League each and every progressive season, which is just getting greater. The difference is chasm-like.
This is a fabulous game but both teams would be slaughtered in the Premier League. Sure, the players on show tonight look high-calibre. But think on…Meslier looks a very competent goalkeeper. In the Premier League last season, he couldn’t catch a cold…Junior Firpo is on many Leeds fans’ most improved player last…yet list season (at a hugely higher level), he looked like a school child kicking a ball on a back street. It’s just a massive, massive step up.

Re: Tonights footy
Leicester robbed.
Westergaard header, with Paka onside, comes back of the woodwork.
Defender plays it backwards, Paka nets and is then flagged offside.
Hinchcliffe making arguments about playing it deliberately or not, IRRELEVANT.
The last Leicester player to play the ball forward was Westergaard and Paka was onside at that moment.

Hinchcliffe didnt have a clue it shouldn’t have been disallowed - was obvious it had been played by the defender
