pace
surely the chairman as to think long and hard about Vincent because week in week out the team is losing but worse for me is the performance they are putting in, no fight in the team and confidence they had as been drained from them , will this squad of players we have spent good money on bounce back I'm very worried we might struggle. I know if it was Dyche still as manager he would have been sacked before now . Over to you Alan to try and sort it out..

I hope Pace is asking Kompany what he's doing to try and fix the problems in this team and improve us. I'm scared the answer is nothing.

Re: pace
The excuse that it was great teams who were beating us just doesn't hold water anymore.
Palace were anything but a great team, and were without three of their best players.
It's beyond embarrassing and Kompany needs to go now!

Re: pace
Pace doesn't have a scooby about footy, lets be honest. Garlick for all his faults wouldn't have allowed his manager to sign a new team to take on the Prem like that, it's inexperience on his part but hopefully will learn from it. Who are we making money on? We're crap

Re: pace
Pace doesn’t have a clue if he sticks with Kompany. You would have thought being a Wall Street man that he would have sacked him by now. It’s already too late and we have this dross in the division below next season. I can’t see us doing anything next season why wait to fail, get rid now!

Re: pace
I’m not at the stage where I think VK should be sacked, although I’m not a million miles away.
However if Pace wants to protect his investment in the squad, he’s probably going to have to sack VK because under VK those young signings have lost their value, lost their belief and likely losing the desire to play for Burnley.

Pace is just as much to blame.
There's not a chance on earth a football manager buys all them young players, without buying any players good enough for the level.

Pace has backed him thinking VK had all the answers. I guarantee he will be utterly flummoxed right now.

Re: pace
I actually think he decided quite some time ago that following last season he was going to stick with Vinny no matter what and he's accepted well before now that we're definitely going down. He seems to have made the decision to let him have another go at promotion next season. Surely if he hadn't decided that, VK would have been potted ages ago!

Re: pace
If thats the case, it’s no wonder we are where we are. A group of business men, fawning over Kompany and giving him feee reign to do whatever he chooses, with no one having the wherewithal to question his approach.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 6:28 pmIMO if this is the sort of approach they want then yes, but VK wouldn't have that, he wants full reign over everything.
Re: pace
I am flummoxed how people are still looking to blame Pace.
Kompany is the manager, Kompany scouted the players (using his scouting network), Kompany has failed to deliver.
Kompany HAS to go this weekend.
Pace has backed his man, it worked last year, it’s failed this year.
Some of the people on this board won’t be happy until we’re back where ‘we belong’.

There aren't actually any words to describe a club who run their business like that.

I can't think of one instance in the history of football where a club in a death spiral withheld from sacking their manager for the very reason that they 'couldn't afford it'.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 6:34 pmPace has backed him to far now, can the board financially afford to sack him and all his set piece coaches and get someone else in

Unfortunately Pace uses Vincent’s knowledge of football to run the club. Without the football brain what does he do?
He needs to find another football brain that knows what its doing clearly.

1. Is there anybody who could keep us up ( who would come)
2. Is there anybody better to get us promoted if we get relegated
I would think the answer to both questions is no.

Re: pace
Not as naive as many on this thread.
Sticking with Vincent may be the wise (and cheapest) move.
Sack him, the lower divisions could beckon and the end of the era could be nigh. Keep him, evidence shows there is every chance he will bounce back (and maybe he will decide some players need recycling in the process).

Re: pace
We were asking the same question two years ago in fairness. Without the Collins handball against Newcastle, question 1 might have been answered yes (and there were fewer games left to save our season at the time), and from the perspective we have now, question 2 looks less daunting than it did 2 years ago.Mansfield claret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 6:55 pmEven if they could afford it, there are two questions

Dyche's sacking was more surprising than Kompany's would be from this point.

We aren't staying up and the way things are going this season I wouldn't trust VK to repeat last seasons highs, if by chance he did what confidence would you have in another Prem campaign with him ?

Yeah we are down but that board must of had some reassurance from kompany he will stay in the championship or he should have been sacked weeks ago.Mansfield claret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 6:55 pmEven if they could afford it, there are two questions

The the face of it yes kompany would be best placed to take us back up but all depends on the squad
Re: pace
I think (don’t know) that will have been one of Kompanys demands to come. He’s an astute business man.
