Bad as Laws era
Bad as Laws era
Gutless, aimless, clueless, dunno what else to say.
Re: Bad as Laws era
It’s technically worse, in the Premier League at least, as much as it pains me to say it.

It's worse.
Laws was managing a team (predominantly) made up of champ journeymen that just had their hearts ripped out when Judas fobbed off.
This guy has ripped the heart out whilst spending a small fortune in doing so!

Re: Bad as Laws era
It probably is the worse we've been at this level, I like Kompany but he's made so many huge mistakes with signings and selection.
I keep thinking he will turn it around but Ive seen nothing all season to suggest we are anything but a bottom 3 club.

Actually regressed in the last few months. I've no clue what we're even trying to do anymore.

Not really convinced VK is going to end the season with more wins than Laws had in his half season.

Awful performance
Re: Bad as Laws era
Ha ha, which game you on about? Everything bar SheffU and Brighton has been rank. Even the Luton and Fulham games where we picked up points were sloppy.

Laws was managing a team that wasn't his. Kompany has built two different teams

Re: Bad as Laws era
Where it is similar is that we were crying out for experience last month to help a relegation slog and we sign 3 youngsters.
Laws signed youngster Jack Cork in similar situations.
The young players heads dropping has been a similar theme in both seasons, though we had more experience in 2010 and were stabbed in the back by the original manager.

Re: Bad as Laws era
Vastly worse than under Laws. There isn't another club in the country who would have stood by the manager as long as we have.
Dyche took us to another level over a decade. We've regressed more than a decade in 8 months. It's that bad. If we keep VK in charge we'll be in another relegation scrap next season... likely with Trafford STILL in goal.

That Laws team had some good performances in it when they ignored instructions and just played like Coyles team.
This team has nothing anymore.

How are those who want him to stay going to defend this absolute shambles?
Pathetic that they continue to blindly follow the manager, Kompany has to answer with his JOB tonight!

Nobody’s defending anything, its utterly, utterly shite and we’re one of the worst ever top flight teams, but I just can’t see the point in sacking VK now, without seeing how we start next season first.

Keep VK, if he gets sacked he walks off into the sunset. He needs to sit and suffer for the rest of this season, like we all have to.
Just a shame we can't do anything about this shambles, but he could and he chooses not to.

Re: Bad as Laws era
If we're being harsh you can discount the Sheff U performance as well. Their players had clearly given up on Heckingbottom and used the game to get shot of him.

Can't wait to see his after match interview, no one in their right mind, can defend this abysmal performance!
Like they say in politics...the honourable gentleman, should do the right thing and resign.....immediately!
I really do fear for the future of our great club, with yours truly at the helm.
Promotion next season isn't automatically guaranteed...as we all know!!!

Sheff Utd are probably worse than us, but when they beat us at Bramall Lane we'll be below them, (if not before then).

I watched all the Laws matches. He did his best but inherited a poisoned chalice. This is all VK’s doing and nothing has changed for the better since the start of the season. I’ve stopped going on even though I have a paid ticked. It’s just crap to watch with the same problems every week.

Last season was better than anything Laws could even imagine.
That’s the only thing saving him at the moment.

If he tries to spin it that we were unlucky or something, then I may just boycott Turf Moor until he's gone.
How embarrassing is it now looking that he said the opening game against City would be the worst we'd play all season?
Re: Bad as Laws era
The thing that Laws had going for him was that he didn't spend £100+m to serve up such shite.
Kompany could write a book on how to systematically take apart the culture of an organisation.

Re: Bad as Laws era
I've been a season ticket holder for 35 years and I have never wanted to miss a match. I didn't bother going against Liverpool or Arsenal this season. No point anymore and I can get behind anything. I mean we've been served up some real tripe over the last 30 years. I'm not a "boo-boy" either. Just give me something that resembles a football team and I'll get behind it.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 5:26 pmIf he tries to spin it that we were unlucky or something, then I may just boycott Turf Moor until he's gone.

I can make excuses for all our previous managers. Dyche didn't get the backing he should have, Howe didn't have the players for his style, Laws was in an impossible position (no one wanted him and Coyle ripped the heart out of the club) etc etc... I could go on whether it's Coyle, Stan or Mullen.
However, there are no excuses for Vincent. He's had more resources than every other Burnley manager in history put together. This is now 100% his team. He decided to rip apart last seasons squad. He decided to stick with players who are clearly not as good as the ones they were signed to replace. He should walk, tonight, no excuses.

Re: Bad as Laws era
I just don’t get this naive thinking. Elite sports is as much about mentality as it is physicality and actual skill. Kompany has single handedly destroyed a team and it’s spirit. The death spiral set in a while ago and there is no coming back for him now. Carry this hangover into the new season and we could very well be embarrassed. This group of players under Kompany is done.
Just get rid and let Jackson take over until the end of the season and find a good solid manager in the summer to sort this lot out.

Under Laws we P18 W3 D0 L15 F19 A51 GD 32 Pts 9
We have 13 for 26 0.5/game same as laws at present and scored I think 25 in 26 games
I think marginally our defence looks worse but lets wait until the season is over
I think his first game was Man U away but in BL favour he didnt have the equivalent of £100million to spend did he?
He also inherited a squad down from events whereas as VK has turned a buzzing club and fan base into what BL inherited

First game was away at Old Trafford 3-0 loss.
Wins coming against West Ham home 2-1, Hull City away 4-1, Spurs home 4-2. Draw was Stoke at home 1-1.
