Matt Williams

Post by Tackler49 » Sun Feb 25, 2024 12:13 pm

I listened to the CP match on Clarets+ and Matt Williams was co-commentator he that Lyle Foster has a hernia and that the medic’s thought that Charlie Taylor’s injury was looking like a career ending injury and Beyer won’t be risked till he is fully fit,why don’t we get this info from VK. Matt Williams always seems to be a good listen. No doubt he will be silenced if starts saying too much

Weird on Taylor, it just looked like he'd hurt his shoulder, didn't seem enough pain to be dislocated either. Wonder what it was.

The fact Matt is prepared to share something we did not know, shows that player confidentiality is not an issue. For me VK is a control freak and likes to keep info to himself, plus vey cagey. It will backfire as I am witnessing fan support for him diminishing weekly

He's also come out with some fair b0llocks but I do like him, but say a lot of s**t and I stop paying any attention to the message.

I like them a lot, Matt and Vincent alike, but every word of this post feels true.

It also rubbishes some of the silly comments on the thread last week who were defending the club being so evasive. “lyle has a hernia”, now how difficult was that to say, especially when we are all so panicky about him for obvious reasons?

Vincent clearly likes to keep his players in a bubble away from the fans, including lack of injury updates, lack of interviews etc. That may be how they do it at elite level but I am unconvinced that is the way to win over Burnley fans and I am not convinced it helps results on the pitch either. He won’t change though, he is as stubborn as a mule, often to his benefit, but sometimes not.

Good, no reason why he should.
Let the pundits and "fans" speculate all they like if that's what they're into.

Career ending injury for Charlie is horrendous if true. It didn't look like much either.

Very often the type of problem (hernia) that Foster has required surgery to correct is listed as a groin injury or simply groin.
Looking at yesterday’s paper almost every club had players unavailable with problems listed in almost every case be it ankle, knee, back, groin, hamstring or shoulder etc.

Any idea what type of hernia it was and which surgeon will be performing the operation? I like Matt Williams but it sounds like he’s being a bit vague with the details.

I understand it was a linguine hernia and he was operated on by Gino D’acampo 8-)

It’s quite clear he speaks under advice in pressers.

A player is always interviewed after each game (JBG yesterday) and the players are in all sorts of ‘videos’ on weekly basis, usually linked to sponsors and training.

Charlie Taylor was taken off in the 75th minute because he received a bang to his head so he was taken off as precaution seeing he had just returned from a serious neck injury apparently not his shoulder if this is so why risk him on the other hand MW said Beyer won’t return until he is fully fit which sounds confusing to fans but it’s just way things have gone this season with what appears to be a complete lack of joined up thinking
With our manager who doesn’t see what other see and a chairman who seems to be happy to let us go on struggling instead of reading the riot act and denting a few egos
