Have we all calmed down today!!

Post by thelifeofbrian » Sun Feb 25, 2024 2:24 pm

Lots of derogatory comments flying around yesterday aimed at VK and our players.

Its just a game of football, we are going through a tough time and we need to get behind the team,

There are still 11 game left and 33 points- we can still do this.

UTC.

P.s stop being so negative.

I haven’t calmed down. I just want VK and these set of chancers to **** off. This season has been miserable from start to finish.

Doesn't matter if there's 212 games left, we don't look like winning any.
It really wouldn't surprise me if we didn't pick up another point from any of them.

Are you on a wind up? Of course we can’t do this.
It’s not being negative either. If we were bottom of the league and actually competing in games I don’t think too many would be complaining.
As it is we are going out each match with questionable, or I would say ridiculous team selections and we are set up to lose by an inept Manager who has not learnt a single thing from the season so far and has spent a small fortune by Burnley standards to make us this bad.It really is inexcusable and frustrating.
I for one don’t give two hoots about being in the Premier League. However, whilst we are in this league I would expect us to be at least competing. Instead we just have a team of nothing type players who lack the passion for the fight and simply roll over and get their bellies tickled each week.
So you crack on pal and get behind VK and the team and please stop patronising those of us who want to be critical.
It’s a message board FFS.

There’s not actually anything to be positive about, that’s why people are being negative.

I wasn't mad yesterday just disillusioned, resigned ,sad and bored. Decided now to put family first no more missing events, booking holidays around fixtures etc, when your club has become a marketing brand you can choose something else.

I can echo this. It really does make you feel like this. Good four words there in opening sentence. Disillusioned, Resigned, Sad, Bored captures it really.

What you need to understand about the main posters on here is that they are very sad individuals with nothing else in their lives apart from the might clarets. So they take things a little too far when we get beat. The majority and sensible Burnley fans understand the situation.

I'll still be there next Sunday, but I've honestly never felt as detached and despondent about my team as I do today, after nearly 60 years, and there's been some bad times along the way, I hate to say it, kills me to say it, but can't see where another win will come from this season, and we need at least 6.

Im wondering if its the younger supporters- under 30's who are the negative ones, these fans weren't watching Burnley in the 80;s when we we in the old fourth division- be interested to see a demographic, surely somebody as the data somewhere?

The age of a fan shouldn’t matter if they are being negative, whether all you have known is good times of last 10 years or you have been there in the 80s or even watching Brian Easton taking corners 4-0 down away to Leicester, if you can see a team not fighting and not working hard then there will rightly be negative comments

I'm 40. Supporter since 1993. Relative to the league we are competing in, this is the worst Burnley team I've ever watched.

Perhaps you don't understand that it's hurtful to see the team conceding 5 (twice) and four once and conceding late goals to lose. In fact it's pretty soul destroying. And, if as you describe, they have nothing else in their lives, which if course you can't possibly know, then it's entirely their life style choice which they are free to make. Perhaps you could name these posters and let them respond.

The thing to remember about pushpinpussy is that he posts lots of lies on this board about all sorts of things. He then suggests others are sad, presumably to be so outrageously ironic to provoke a reaction.

I’ve been guilty of biting before, but he’s best ignored.

I agree but I think a lot of that had to do with the terraces, it was easy to have large groups together and enjoy it for what it was. Those groups also helped the atmosphere with their belligerence and gallows humour, often they would entertain themselves. They were of course, simpler, and cheaper times without the distractions we have today

Look at the league table. If we'd have won just 3 more games (and that would be 6 from 26) we'd at least be in a fight.

We can't still do this, we just have to wait until we're put out of our misery.

I turned my phone off for 48 hours after we were relegated at home to Newcastle (childish but I couldn't face the mickey taking off my mates and I was really down)

This time I won't bat an eyelid.

Don't get distracted by atmosphere, prices and nostalgia.

Could you keep it to what we see on the field? I can't ever remember posting on this forum, even in the ClaretsMad days, that our players are crap.

But they are crap

Of course, they're free to post whatever stuff they like and, perhaps, it's no wonder relatively recent fans are foaming at the mouth.
I do think experience of watching football, particularly Burnley, through thick and thin gives you the ability to put it all into perspective.
Or it should do.

For the first time ever probably... I've nothing to calm down from because I've just come to expect the same half ar$ed performances and a loss now every match.

I've stopped trying to find a link to watch the away games etc and I don't even feel annoyed at the results like I always have. It's become a bit flat as a whole and I'm getting pushed away from that inner love/emotion/passion that's always burnt watching/following us as time passes.

I might get a bit back in the champ but it's been growing a while.

I felt like this last time we were in the premier league, I missed half the games and watched at home, I think I just fell out of love with football as a whole and lockdown made me realise I wasn’t missing it as much as I thought.

Last year I only missed a handful but I think the enjoyment came back because my daughter was enjoying her first season and the fact we were good obviously helped.
As others have said, I just don’t feel a connection with the club anymore. I can’t even pronounce some players names or tell you where we signed them from, funnily enough the ones I can, I wish I couldn’t 😂

I watched us in Div 4 but I’ve missed a few this season out of choice. It was obvious to me this wasn’t going to work this season after a few matches. No improvement week on week and it looks like we don’t even train all week. For the amount of money spent it’s pathetic and I’ve found other things to do.

If we had scraped promotion through play offs with a run of wins out of nowhere the expectations would have been more measured for this season. But since the Derby win before the world Cup break we cantered to let's face it a easy promotion.

Think we underestimated the loss of players that were loans and we never signed in the likes of Harwood Bellis, Tella and Maatson but that's life. We definitely overestimated because we threw loads of players (mostly players we had never heard of) into the club last season and they gelled and it worked that the same would happen again.

Lots hopefully learnt but nobody and I mean nobody expected a 2 horse race to avoid us finishing bottom as the only target - we could easily finish 6 wins from a points survival target - that's huge.

I haven't calmed down. The more I think about it, the more maddening it is. There are some good players in that team and they look awful. Its got to come down to the managment and how he's preparing them.

First time in my 35 years watching us that I’m thinking of going up arbories instead next season. I’d rather see non league players trying to win games and run and tackle over a bunch of over paid , over hyped cowards that we have had to endure this season.

I'll bet now you'll be back once we start winning again

Don’t think we will start winning again with this squad even in the league below . No experience like we had last time coming up

My Mate says "the sooner City come calling for Kompany the better", I'm beggining to agree.

I think I was the only one on here that didn’t want him in the first place. I could see it coming with that embarrassing dressing room video from Anderlecht.

The guy to get was the Norwegian guy, make it happen Pace.

Stayed away from the posts today ,but it’s the same old same old ,from approx 5 pm on a Saturday posters (ranters ,people with agendas ,people that aren’t really Burnley fans ,people that should go and watch Rovers ,people that should remember how brilliant VK last season, people who hate JT ,people who hate VK ,people that live and breath Burnley ,people that take several days to recover from another abject performance come on this board are then criticised and personally criticised by Nori et al for not getting behind the team and saying we’ll all be back next season when we’re smashing the championship.,and if you come back next weekend they’ll be there again being the only true Burnley fans, they’re excuses are getting really thin, and as night follows day one of them will be along saying I’ve got 27 different user names and I called Trafford and he’s only 20 blah blah blah.

There is always good debate on this site. However there is no denying there is now a huge disconnect between an increasing number of fans and our club. Some of us need to open our eyes that there is something seriously wrong. From 101 points last season to 13 from 26 games, and things are getting gradually worse

LifeOfBrian?

I'd have said more Holy Grail - Black Knight specifically.
