Fantastic interview. Really enjoyed that. Pity there are not more like him. God knows what he would think of players now. Pansies.
Re: Brian Clough interview.
He knew how to manage a team and get the best out of them. I remember his interviews after games back in the 70s, they certainly had your attention.

Re: Brian Clough interview.
Good manager, but if you had ever had dealings with him then I doubt you'd post that.

Re: Brian Clough interview.
Historical proof that even a football genius needs an experienced Peter Taylor to bounce ideas off.

Could be an urban myth but anyone who sticks one on Roy Kean gets my vote.

Re: Brian Clough interview.
I had a weird conversation with Brian Clough.
I was in a fishing tackle shop pretty much in the same street as the City ground and Clough came in. Apparently he was buying maggots to feed his Koi carp.
We started talking as we waited, and he said he'd told Roy Keane he was going on loan to Burnley 'as a punishment'.
He said Keane refused to go so he sold him to United.
I told you it was weird.

Re: Brian Clough interview.
The brown envelope was exactly what it was about as he took money off a destitute non league club.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 12:44 pmOnly thing you would post is an envelope. Usually brown.....

In the unlikely event that I bump into Keane I'll ask him about it.South West Claret. wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 2:00 pmWe started talking as we waited, and he said he'd told Roy Keane he was going on loan to Burnley 'as a punishment'.
He said some other stuff about Keane, which I can't share on a public message board - apart from 'There's only one person in charge of this club, and the one who thinks he was has gone'.

Brian Clough and Peter Taylor managing England would have been very interesting I think.
