Which is more important for you on Sunday?

Post by burnley007 » Wed Feb 28, 2024 9:03 am

Which of these is more important to you on Sunday?

- Team Sheet, (Benson, Muric, Cork et al)

- Performance, (grit, fight, determination, formation etc)

- Result, (getting points).

Result, then performance, don't give a toss about the team sheet

Not even bothered about the result or who plays.

Just want to watch a competitive game where our lads come of the pitch with a bit of sweat on the shirt.

Team sheet - see if Vincent finally swallows his pride

Performance - no more cowardly displays

Result - doesn’t matter, we’re already down

The time for must wins has gone now in regards to survival but for the good of everyone we need them to find a way to win this game.

A good performance showing desire and fight would be a good way to get many fans back onside regardless of the 11 he chooses. In fact a win by a changed 11 could almost be used to vindicate feelings in those that are strongly against VK.

A good meal in the Longside Lounge. I'm almost tempted to go home after that! (The way Bournemouth played against Man C, I have no expectations of getting a result.)

Team sheet.

He has to be prepared to change what isn't and hasn't worked all season. If he still shows no willingness to adapt then what little faith in him I have left will disappear.

Not having any delays or issues on the trains on the way up. Northern are on strike on Friday so hopefully no knock on effect through to Sunday.
The football is largely irrelevant now. It’s soulless.

I understand why the result is important, but if it's the same team, playing the same way and we fluke a result, does that change anything?

Although we are already relegated, the Result always has to be the priority followed by the performance and the team sheet is the least of importance so long as the first 2 are achieved.

It cannot be any other combination

IMO all 3 are equally important.

Team sheet - VK needs to show he's flexible and give others a chance.
Performance - we need to show to aggression and fight and that the players actually care
Result - although relegation is a foregone conclusion we need a win for the confidence of the players and management

Weird that anyone would find the team selection more important than the performance or result. Surely the important thing is fielding a team that will compete and get results.

If we started with Muric and Benson for example and then put in our worst performance of the season and got our heaviest defeat how would this be a positive?

It will always be result first for me and yes, it's too late this season, but i can only ever hope for a Burnley win when we play any game.

If we can put a good performance in alongside getting 3 points, so much the better.

The manager is continuously failing to do this, which is why the team selection is such a big focus. You're right, though- if Trafford and Amdouni suddenly turn up and we win, I won't mind.

Its all important really, for me i want to see a return to a style Kompany genuinely believes in now. He should at least die on his own sword.
I think the keeper thing needs dealing with. If trafford starts then the crowd could really turn if he makes any mistakes or shows any hesitation even. Muric starts and the crowd is up from the off. Its a no brainer

The result.

But we need to see improvement. Seeing improvement will keep Vinny in a job a bit longer and give him more time to get things right.

It's about attempting to get a result by giving a chance to players that haven't had a fair chance this season after 3 wins in 26 games, so why not try something different by giving the players that were instrumental in our season last season, cos the players selected so far are not doing very well. Not a case of playing favourite players, it's more about the manager trying something that he's not yet tried so far this season, a fair chance to "all"

If that isn't what we wanted then look to the performance, if the performance isn't there then look to the team sheet, if the team sheet is the same... then look at the manager.

We've been down and out for about two months. Burnley for much of the season have been some weird art installation/horror movie/social experiment.

At this point I think I'd just like Muric in goal. At least give us a bit of razzmatazz with our relegation.

It's not about the team. It's about seeing the VK is willing to change and adapt. Half my issue with my faith loss in him is how he picks under performing players every single week, without fail and without fail they let the team down.

The result, at this point, doesn't really matter as it changes nothing.

The performance however is important. We need to see fight. We need to see people willing to give everything for the shirt and their manager.

Normally I'd have result first but given we're already down I just want to see improvement, a clear direction, and learning from previous mistakes.

Not bothered who starts as long as they preform, but I will be bothered if the same players keep playing whilst not performing.

Would honestly be happy with the players just showing a bit of desire and fight for once more than anything with the result not mattering much.

Can't think of one home game this season (maybe sheff u) that they have looked even the slightest bit up for the game.

Correct. If he still can't see that we need 3 proper centre midfielders and at least try to control a game and be in with a chance of something towards the end, then all hope is gone.
