It’s a multi million £ business and should be run as such

That’s what he’s doing
He doesn’t need to be a football man, because the majority of footballing decisions aren’t being made by him
Well maybe that's where he's going wrong we wouldn't have a thread about a failing experiment or staring down the barrel of relegation & a accumulation of debt running in the millions if all was hunky dory. The club will be left a carcass that's in little doubt.

We’ve got lots of threads with people desperate to get to their own point seen but most of them aren’t saying anything new or insightful let’s be honest here

It isn’t a failed experiment at all, we’re still in the PL, we romped the championship last season and it’s entirely possible we’d do it again next season
We all know they had a 3yr plan to get out of the championship and the club is ahead of schedule etc
Kompany is still learning and needs time, like Dyche did when he first got here

There are fans of other clubs who wish their clubs were “failing” this much

I meet him at Turf on a match day quite regularly and he's always willing to stop and talk to any fan who wants to speak to him. I don't understand the vitriol towards him from some people on an anonymous forum, I mean you wont find Daniel Levy chatting to the regular fans at Spurs will you (maybe he does, I just dont know) and I am fairly sure that the Glaziers at Utd dont mingle with the fans...
Love this Rick and you're right.... whether people like or not he's the Chairman, and as far as I'm concerned, in my 30 odd years a Claret last season was ace. He doesn't have to answer to me because I spend a grand or so a year watching the team.

Too many people demanding he explains himself to them. He usually knocking about on match day and comes across a decent bloke. Wish the whingers give it a rest.

Bad season, put it behind us. Move on.

He has to save something for when we are actually relegated
He said zilch on his first relegation, this will be the 2nd relegation under the ALK tenure... the Pace PR team will be getting quite familiar with the bad news wall of silence. Getting accomplished at it.

2 relegations and 1 promotion in 3 seasons will be a true measure of where our club stands under Pace

Clubs bigger than ours, Norwich, west brom, Leeds etc struggle to consistently stay at this level. What we need to know is we have a plan to become sustainable at that level, which I believe Pace does.

Relegation shouldn't be a big shock or surprise to anyone. People thinking we were gonna tear up the league this year were deluded. We had a chance to be better than the other promoted teams and it's not worked. In the grand scheme of things it's a blip in the timeline. Take it and come back stronger.

I suspect people with a bit of sense would have expected the new regime to do better that the previous one especially as they fired the previous manager and spent a ton of cash to support there new Manager
The big question is did we get lucky last season or have we been unlucky this season I suspect next season will tell us the truth

Having very much overachieved for years, I was expecting us to probably yo yo for a bit with maybe a couple of seasons on the spin in the top flight.

A club the size of burnley isn't going to be doing much more than that regularly without enormous sums of money (which £100m isn't, by comparison)

There's a good reason why I said the time of our brief foray into Europe that we really needed to enjoy that at it will be super rare.

Anyone with a bit of sense and an understanding of football would know that firing a manager and giving the new one more money doesn't necessarily equate to better performance. They'd also know that football isn't linear and the circumstances are likely to be different at different times.

Spot on. 'Kick on' is the phrase I would have used and wanted new owners to bring.

However, lets not deny it, we are going backwards and have introduced a shedload of risk (not to the owners mind) to the future of BFC - if on field success is not achieved

I can understand where your coming from ,but can you really find me an example starting from Aug 23 to Mar 24 where Kompany has shown anything he has learned ,and if you can’t ,how is he suddenly going to have a lightbulb moment at the end of this season and sign the players with the aptitude and attitude to get us back up into the Premier League and stay there .

He signed the players that got us here, I’m going to think he could do it again…or did you forget last season already?
Are you saying he couldn’t do that again?

It takes time to build a squad capable of staying in the PL, plenty of clubs go up and down once or twice before an extended stay, ourselves included

Well put

Also. It seems like he is selecting some players that he has bought for high value - no matter how they perform

Also (Pt2) VK isn't showing enough tactical know-how at this level. Far from it

I’ll ask you again ,What has VK learned since the City game up to the end of February? can you honestly say that one aspect of the team has improved? and as regard to signing the players who got us here ,Muric,Roberts ,Zaroury,Benson ditched.

It'd be interesting to see peoples views about that european campaign now a few years later. Its clear we didnt fully go for it, which was a real shame but in hindsight i think if we qualify we get relegated that season.
You could argue that we went down anyway a few years later but i think its less likely we have the takeover if wed gone down at that point. Whether thats a good thing or not is up for debate.

Roberts ditched

Roberts was the first name on the team sheet alongside Cullen for the first ten games or so, they were both awful and quite rightly dropped then performances improved.

Not sure what he's expected to say. He's hurting just like the rest of us and probably more so given the investors he'll have snapping at his coattails. He is unaware of what has gone wrong on the pitch, otherwise he would have fixed it! They've maintained, publicly, that it's a multi year strategy, so why don't we judge them at the end of that period and not in the middle?

I'm not sure about that. After we got knocked out there was an awful feeling around the club, from the fans down to the players it seemed, we barely got a point the first half of the season.
I think if we made it to the group stage the buzz/excitement around the place would have carried us through till Christmas. It still bugs me that Dyche wasn't really interested because there's zero chance we'll ever get another crack at it.

Alan Pace wrote: Good afternoon and welcome to Turf Moor for today’s game against Bournemouth.

I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the supporters who travelled to Crystal Palace last weekend. I’m aware of the costs of travelling to and from London in the current climate, and I assure you your support does not go unnoticed.

The results of the past few games have been tough to take, and I acknowledge that many of you are hurting. We are in a challenging position in the table, that’s the reality.

Reaching the Premier League is not easy, staying in the Premier League is arguably even harder. And we experienced a wonderful season last year to return to this league and come up against the top teams.

I’m a believer that you see true characters when times get tough. When results are bad, I feel it and I can guarantee you that Vince and the players feel it too. However, it’s how we react that is the making of us. We will pick ourselves up and go again.

As a Club our vision is to be Forever Forward. I will always look forward and we use every day to strive to be better.

Our aims are to be a successful football club. We have shown progress on and off the pitch in recent years and there’s lots that we can be proud of - and lots that we can still achieve.

Looking back on the history of Burnley Football Club, we’ve faced difficult times before and shown real resilience. Week in, week out we need to be showing that resilience again now, in unity.

Elsewhere, it’s been a busy week at the Club. We announced the news that TravisMathew are a new Leisure & Lifestyle Partner, a relationship we’ve been working on for some time.

It’s an exciting development and a chance to team up with a globally recognised brand as we expand our offering in this area.

Our women’s team have also been pushing forward, several players have been out in the community this week visiting local schools. During the visits they’ve been speaking of their excitement of the upcoming game at Turf Moor in April.

It was important to me to see the women’s team play another game at the stadium and tickets are now available. All support is very much welcome and will mean a lot to the players, so let’s make it a real occasion.

Now, we’ve had a week of preparation for this afternoon’s game and are looking forward to getting back on home turf.

Whatever happens in the next few weeks, I believe challenging times make you more appreciative of the good times, and I have no doubt that there are good times ahead for us. We’ll get there.

We value your support.

UTC!

As always, it's complete vindication for those of us who don't think we need to hear from him.

I've said quite often on here that he does this

I wonder how many other chairmen do?
