I can categorically tell you now that one of the members of the FAB is not a season ticket holder. He does have a ‘fan page’ on social media though.
One was in court for racist gestures to an away player... There wasn't enough evidence to go through with the charge though.

There aren’t many posters who merge the words I and am together every time but there’s a couple on this thread with a very similar writing style…

If I didn’t know better, I’d suggest they’ve just lazily approached anyone with regular posts on the #twitterclarets handle.
Looks that way doesn’t it?

I know one of the regular posters is a big fan of one of the members of the FAB and replies pretty much to every Tweet (or whatever they call them now) they make.

the BFC statement on it says different

The Fan Advisory Board currently consists of 22 members, all members are season ticket holders. representing under 18s, 18-24s, 25-34s, 35-44s, 45 -54s, 55-64s & 65-75s. Amongst the members, some of the members also represent gender, disability, ethnicity, religion or belief and sexual orientation.

Also everyone of them applied for the role and were selected by the club on the basis of the Premier Leagues guidance for Fan Advisory Boards - incidentally FAB's were introduced as a pre-emptive strike against today's Governance for Football bill,
The problem being of course there are 12 boxes to tick on that list and 22 members, but those 12 categories do not have equal volumes among the fanbase, either total or STH.

So that means there could be, say, 10000 fans in one category and only 1-2 reps on the FAB catering for that demographic. If many fans don’t share the same views as that individual, they are stuffed. Indirectly, this is almost certain to cost the club a lot of revenue because the FAB has to ensure it reflects the needs of the maximum volume of customers.

I can see the aspiration and somewhat agree with it, i.e. the views of all should be captured, and all individuals are equal, but don’t think they have got it quite right. It isn’t just BFC, I have the same concerns about many similar DEI-influenced committees up and down the country.

Has anyone any idea what will happen with the recurring Direct Debit next month? We have already passed the 10 day notification of change required by the Direct Debit Guarantee. Suppose I will have to make sure there is enough money in my account.

A more cynical view is that, given the understanding why the Premier League came up with the FAB (Burnley are not the only wones to drop relations with other supporter groups since its introduction), its purpose can be viewed as one to present the image that the Premier League/Clubs are doing something on the fan engagement/participation front and can be demonstrably shown to be totally inclusive (which I think is good) yet in reality actually appears to be a broadcast medium outwards rather than a means of diverse input into the club - the meeting notes (definitely not minutes) released by the club would seem to support that notion

I'd not even considered being on the FAB given that i live abroad so wouldn't really be representative of sufficient number of fans.

Not sure anyone else from that list also lives outside the UK?

I spoke to the club yesterday and, apparently, there will be an email at the start of next week with all the renewal details.

Additionally, there will be NO direct debit payment for April, which will mean people needing to pay in 11 instalments at most, meaning at least an 8.3% increase in the monthly amount, even before any price hike is added.

If you are using the 8.3% increase surely you take into account the 100% reduction in the April payment

This is downright ridiculous - the club shouldn't be passing on information like this to one supporter, they should be announcing it to all.

Same here - although I did get one to inform me that I'd been successful in the ballot for Blackburn tickets when I had been unsuccessful. I asked the director of fan experience for an explanation - I'm still waiting.

Does anyone know if the club actively sought to recruit people from these diverse areas of society, or did they just appoint people, then assign them to fit the demographs as a demonstration of how inclusive the club is?

Age groups? Fair enough…
Disability? Yep, spot on…
Gender? Ok, be good for the club to hear if the toilet facilities provided are acceptable for both men and women…

Anyway, time to announce the new season ticket prices…

So fans are inconvenienced because they couldn’t get their act together. If only season ticket renewals were an annual thing that you had A WHOLE YEAR to prepare for!

Don’t get me started with this muppet. He must wake up every morning and pinch himself wondering how he is still getting paid handsomely for being useless. He is about as effective as a porn star in an Amsterdam live sex show who cannot get “wood”.

Stoke haven’t increased prices for 15 years now. We put ours up regularly through to 2014/15 but didn’t increase them again until last year.

I think that they are too late to set up a Direct Debit request for April because they have to give you, and your bank, at least 10 working days notice of the payment. If they decided to do 12 payments then they would be shouting themselves in the foot for next April - when revenues will probably be over £120m less than this year.

This doesn’t impact me as I don’t pay by DD, but I will reserve judgement until we know the reason.

I personally can’t believe they’re doing this ‘to see what league we’re in’ or to boost sales for whatever reason. Presumably the risks and downsides to the club far outweigh the benefits.

If there’s a valid reason (i.e. ground development or whatever) then no it’s not really poor.

If they just have t got their act together and agreed prices on time, then yes it is.

It’s appalling to be honest. What does this Russell Ball guy do on a daily basis? The catering operations are still a shambles and now a prolonged silence re early bird season tickets. They won’t be able to call them early bird if they leave it much longer.
It is bordering on disingenuous the way the board are treating us loyal supporters.
They can keep all the fancy LED’s around the stadium, it’s all smoke and mirrors. I as a supporter feel less valued as each week passes with these fly by night unscrupulous Yanks in charge of our club.

I'll go with that, though a routine e-mail to all ST holders giving a little update would be the least they can do, surely?
Agree on that point.

Torn as to why they wouldn’t want to do that - partly plays in to a theory they’re just late and have no excuse/reason to explain the delay, but equally maybe they just can’t say why at this point.

That element of communication does seem to have taken a bit of a backward step this year.

It does indeed. Contrary to Russell Ball’s fancy title I would say supporters are a lot less engaged this season and the silence really is deafening.

I have to say though, I'm only worried about this because of reading this thread.

I think if I hadn't used this board I probably wouldn't have thought about the announcement being late. I don't pay via DD though.

I think what you’ve got to bear in mind is that, regardless of Ball’s title, he talked in an interview of a lot of his role being about attracting investment.

If that’s true, maybe Alan is really happy with the job he’s doing. If he’s contributing in different ways. Who knows?

What I would not say I’ve seen any improvement in, and arguably a decline in, is fan engagement - which appears to be his official role. And also match day experience is declining vs last season too - catering, etc. if that is really his sole focus it’s hard to work out what he’s doing, I agree.

Heard the hold up is because they want to change the colour of the new season ticket cards to rainbow with a new Burnley designed crest.

I think that they are too late to set up a Direct Debit request for April because they have to give you, and your bank, at least 10 working days notice of the payment. If they decided to do 12 payments then they would be shouting themselves in the foot for next April - when revenues will probably be over £120m less than this year.
Sorry, I don't follow, probably just me being dim...

The club could offer a 12 month DD option running from May 2024-April 2025, they will miss out on the cash injection in April 2024 - although perhaps there will be an option for supporters to buy outright at a cheaper price than the DD price. So really this is only a cash-flow issue for the club and presumably won't be an operational problem. Unless I've misunderstood your point?

I spoke to the club yesterday and, apparently, there will be an email at the start of next week with all the renewal details.

Additionally, there will be NO direct debit payment for April, which will mean people needing to pay in 11 instalments at most, meaning at least an 8.3% increase in the monthly amount, even before any price hike is added.
What you do is ensure the DD payment you would have made in April, is placed in your bank account. Then each month, a little of it will be taken for the other 11 months.

As this has been the first season where ST holders have been able to re-sell their ticket for matches in exchange for club credit, I wonder if this is contributing to the delay?

They're going to end up with all sorts of different ST prices based on early bird period, seat location, age and how much credit someone has available. Does this further complicate the direct debits?
