You want the nearest team above us to win because they’re an underdog in a game?CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 7:42 pmWanting Luton to do well and have a go is just supporting an underdog.
If (when) we go down it won't be because of Luton, it will be because of our own inept performances.
As for using terms like "slag off" - makes you sound like a proper chav

I'm in all honesty not that arsed.
Just commend them for the way they've gone about their season. It's nothing to do with their league position, nor ours.
Anyone thinking that we're still in position to get out of this is beyond deluded.

We are in a position to get out of it, whether the team is capable of getting enough points is the debatable element.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 8:05 pmI'm in all honesty not that arsed.

I must be from a different era.... I would never, ever want a rival to win, ok it's a long shot, but whilst it's still possible, however unlikely, to survive, you've got to support your club, and that includes hoping and praying that your rivals lose... And to see a burnley fan say "come on Luton" tonight just beggers belief.

- they’re 7 pts ahead with 12 to play (should be 4pts ahead)
- Forest and Everton likely have further points deductions to come in to play and neither are in form
- it’d be better for us if Luton came down with us vs Forest or Everton

To be honest, after a lot of the absolute rubbish written on this board in recent months it’s not that surprising at all.Nori1958 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 8:17 pmI must be from a different era.... It doesn’t matter what the subject title of a thread is on this forum these days - it just has the same people moaning about the same tiresome subjects making the same tiresome comments.
It really is boring.

Luton are everyone’s favourite under dogs this season. I can see why out of all the teams at the bottom people are applauding them (mainly because they remind them of us under Dyche).Nori1958 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 8:17 pmI must be from a different era.... I couldn’t really give a toss what any of the teams down the bottom do from now till the end of the season as there is literally no chance we stay up.

Think Luton are likely to be just as a thorn in our side as any team to be relegated next season in all honesty - more likely to keep most of their side together.NewClaret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 8:21 pmI don’t think we can, but I think it’s seriously weird wanting the nearest club above us to win when:

7 points ahead yes when we've won 3 games all year with 12 to go. You really think we have the ability to close that gap?

You think they’ll keep Barkley, Lokonga, Adebayo & Ogbene?CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 8:29 pmThink Luton are likely to be just as a thorn in our side as any team to be relegated next season in all honesty - more likely to keep most of their side together.

We won’t take 4pts off Everton and probably not Forest either.

Re: Today's Football
Not sure on Barkley's deal, Lonkonga no - the other two absolutely.
Ogbene was at Rotherham not doing much before Luton signed him mate, Adebayo a bog-standard Champ player that could have still been scratting about League One - Rob Edwards is simply getting the most out of pretty much every single player that they have.
Everton and Forest could go one of two ways if relegated. Everton would be really screwed their finances right now are precarious at best.
Luton will be in a position to spend a bit to surmount another challenge - has a very similar sort of feel to me as that first Dyche promo/relegation. Think they'll be strong next season.
Re: Today's Football
Luton aren’t our relegation rivals. We are gone and they are still fighting. What a good football match that was.
I personally hope they stay up. They have got players with fire in their bellies and a manager who is making the best of what they have got.
We are just an expensively assembled team of nothingness, with little or no desire who are sleepwalking back to the Championship.
If Luton go down at least their fans will appreciate the effort they put in trying to stay in the Premier League. Well done little Luton.

Re: Today's Football
We're literally achieving 0.5 points / game
If we continued this current rate even if Luton didn't pick up another point we would finish a point behind them.
The only thing we're playing for right now is to not be the second worse PL team of all time.

Luton are fighting and still lost
Us spending more money than them is irrelevant, you don't win matches in the bank - just ask Man Utd and Chelsea.
That said, I think Edwards is an absolute credit to Luton

....and if that becomes four tomorrow then the fact Luton lost is a big positive.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 8:14 pmBasically the same thing.
12 games to go, won 3 games all year.
It's not happening.

Re: Today's Football
I will still go to the Turf tomorrow, hoping we win, hoping this is the start of an improvement in form, results and league position.
If you don't have any hope when you go watching your team then what's the point in going?
It's been **** for the vast majority of this season but in my life supporting this great club it's been far worse. I'm as frustrated as anybody, but I'm not going to let it consume me and wet my knickers every weekend about it.

Re: Today's Football
It's the same as England fans wanting Scotland or Ireland to do well when England have been knocked out of a tournament or when England are just shite and/or picking a team full of scousers/mancs.

Very unlikely unless forest get a points deduction. But if they do, we are still in with a chance and I'm delighted Luton lost. Why on earth wouldn't you be while we're not down.
