Sadly, that sort of season where fans take any crumbs of comfort that may be on offer. Even if that means we may not actually finish bottom of the league and that there is a club worse than us.Buxtonclaret wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 8:42 pmNot much fun being a Claret this season.
Even less being a Blade.

From BBC:
Arsenal are the second team to net at least five goals in three successive top flight away matches, after Burnley in September 1961 (6-2 at Birmingham City, 6-2 at Leicester City, 5-3 at Fulham).

It's bizarre that the 2 best teams by a country mile last season in the championship both might not get even 20 points out of 114 !!!

Re: Tonight’s Football
Sheff Utd are dire, but what does that say about us when we’re level on points with them?
I’m embarrassed that we’re bracketed with this hopeless Sheff Utd team, and Kompany and the players should be too.

Re: Tonight’s Football
What about letting 5 in at home in consecutive games - Sheff Utd have now done three straight in the league, four straight including the cup.
An aggregate score of 0-15 in two and half games is more like a rubbish tennis match than a top division football match.

While I understand the Blades travails all season, you can very much attribute some blame to Wilder for tonight. Got the set up all wrong and Trusty at full back is just bizarre. They’ve got worse under him.

If you added our points totals together we would still only be in 15th level on points with Brentford.

Attendance when we play them for the wooden spoon will be interesting. Maybe Blades and Clarets fans should both stay away.

My fantasy football tactic is to pack my team with whoever is playing Sheffield Utd and Burnley
Re: Blades v Gunners
Arsenal can really move the ball at speed and accurately. They can operate really well in tight spaces too.

Apparently it's the 4th home game on the trot where they've conceded
five goals = well at least 5 as they've just conceded a sixth against Arsenal.
Can't imagine what the Turf would be like if we d been in the same situation.

Re: Tonight’s Football
If this match carries on in the same trajectory both Burnley and Sheffield United will have been ‘nilled’ by Arsenal with neither home team managing to have a shot on target.
Both teams guilty of shambolic defending and toothless in attack as the table can verify.

-50 goal difference
Re: Blades v Gunners
Considering they lost their best player to us,are in a mess behind the scenes, haven't really strengthened and weren't not a patch on us last season it really does highlight just how Kompany has spunked away a golden opportunity and some serious money.
Re: Blades v Gunners
If only fans spent as much time supporting their own team as they do trying to justify why other teams are crap.

Sheffield are crap, I am a passionate Claret and acknowledge we are crap, what's your point ? If you comment on other teams you are disloyal if you dare to question Kompany you are not a BFC Ultra ?
Re: Blades v Gunners
I was driving last night and listening to the game on the radio. Danny Murphy alluded to what you are saying here.
He said when Sheffield United got promoted they proceeded to weaken their team by sending loanees back and selling their best two players.
He then said the other team down there with them, Burnley have spent a lot of money but not spent it wisely.
Sums it up really.

Re: Blades v Gunners
The gulf just gets wider. The level of players in the PL just goes up and up. It’s certainly becoming much harder for teams like us/sheff u etc to compete. Luton have done well but won’t survive. As much as I’d like us to compete in the PL it’s not going to happen unless some rich individual/ company gets involved. I think the Championship is our level at this time.

Re: Blades v Gunners
I dont think the gulf is widening. Two out the three teams who were promoted last last season completely cocked up. Thats all.
Luton came up with the most sensible approach, don't take any risks, invest wisely and then take the money and run.
