Your Matchday Cost 2020's Edition
Its been a while since I did a quick survey of your matchday cost, which in some cases was quite eye watering, but I wonder (pre-season ticket pricing announcement) what the cost of the average matchday is now we're in a cost of living crisis.
Maybe an idea to try identify how much is actually spent with the club?
Without further ado:
Match ticket: £26.31 (JHU Season Ticket Holder)
Transport to the ground: £4 now its easier for me to get public transport
4/5 Beers in the pub pre game: £17
Pie and Peas in the pub (now that the quality of food is garbage in the ground): £5
3/4 beers after the game back in the pub: £14
Total matchday spend - £66 per game (£26.31 with the club) or £1250 per season. Not as bad as I thought.

Which pub are you going to that you can get 4/5 beers for £17 and serve pie and peas?Darthlaw wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 1:09 pmIts been a while since I did a quick survey of your matchday cost, which in some cases was quite eye watering, but I wonder (pre-season ticket pricing announcement) what the cost of the average matchday is now we're in a cost of living crisis.

Got a lager and bitter in the ground before the game last week as I got there earlier than expected - £11 for that round. Won't be buying that again!

Re: Your Matchday Cost 2020's Edition
ST for JHU plus about £15-20 in the pub each home game. Lift in and home also so probably about £1 in electric.
I bought a pie in the ground last game - thats the 2nd time I have bought something all season and that was only because of the kick off time and by the time I realised I would need to eat, I left myself little choice. Pie was 5/10 but I try not to spend money in the ground due to crap offering.

JHU ST @ £15.79 ... a cup coffee in ground £2.40 ... 2 pints after match in Maypole @ £8.60 ... Transport £3.00 in Electricity to recharge at home. (Car parking at Tennis Club usually paid by my passengers in turn @ £5 per match, so its £1 per match per person)
Making about £31 matchday costs.

Re: Your Matchday Cost 2020's Edition
At 79 years old if I had 8 pints before game
1) I would miss half the match going to the toilet
2) The other half I saw , I would be too drunk to follow what was going on
3) I might as well stop at home and follow on TV

I pray for you it was a game early 2023 you got to and you haven’t been yet in 2024 if it costs you that sort of money to attend a game. I’d be gutted spending that on most of this seasons performances.Tribesmen wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 2:26 pmHummm i will have a stab at this one but it will be for two people .

I know beverages have gone up but blimey.
As for me, money on beer depends if I stay more in Spoons then the Miners which are both good value. Refuse to buy anything on the Turf now so get a burger on the way to the ground.

It would be interesting to see how many previously spent money on the ground but don’t anymore.
Matchday varies too much for me to work out how much I spend.

I’d imagine it’s around £100 on a home game, £200 away games for me and the daughter.

Honestly though, its more the time. A Saturday game means being off to the airport after work on Friday, and not getting back until late Sunday.

Re: Your Matchday Cost 2020's Edition
Certainly my food fell into this bracket and I’d often spend probably more at the ground than my pie and peas in the pub. The new pies are horrific though and I’m not spending another £4 on a drink to restore the moisture a pie has taken.Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 4:06 pmIt would be interesting to see how many previously spent money on the ground but don’t anymore.

Re: Your Matchday Cost 2020's Edition
Actually, just rethought this
with staying at the Dunkenhalgh I get mercure points for free
star alliance to fly over I get frequent flyer miles + business lounge access all year round
Bolt loyalty points - doesn't seem much but when you need to hire an electric scooter a blessing
And the free merch for distant relatives and colleagues' birthdays
I probably make around 60 euros (Euros are a currency widely used in the civilised world unlike the £ which about as reliable our current pull the ball out the net bloke) per match
Re: Your Matchday Cost 2020's Edition
I bet it took a while to think of a goalkeeping quote to get into a thread about cost of games, the lengths some people will go to is embarrassing, especially when they claim to support the team.brexit wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2024 10:03 amActually, just rethought this

Easy to tell that times are tough and people are reluctant to over indulge as not one single poster has included the price of Twix in their matchday expenditure!

2 points
1. You are in a minority if you think Trafford is a reliable keeper
2. As a corporate client, I generate more revenue for the club than you do as an OAP.

Not bad going to get both your points wrong

Depends if im 'on the beer'.
Matchday ticket adult s/t + freebie for my son.
£8 beer + £3 for soft drink/crisps.
H/t son has a pie, chocolate, water. Bene and coffee - £12ish
£8 beer after + £3 for son. Walk home.
If it's drinking day +£100. Spend more on the game now he enjoys going on.

Cost of ticket = £nil (paid for by share sale, club credit, but last year of that - though as we're in the corporate section, next year will be an interesting decision. If we fluke our way to stay in the PL, it will be nil again next year!)
Pint of lemon and lime = £2.55 or £2.80 depending who is working the till
Petrol = 15 miles, about £3.
So less than £6 for two of us. Do I win?
