AJ points
Parker points
Personally had the Ball fight a draw but if the two knockdowns were scored as knockdowns, I don’t see how a judge could give that Vargas by 2.

It's time the authorities banned Boxing as they are banning head contact in all other sports..Unbelievable how its still allowed to carry on. A sport (if it is a sport) for thugs ..

Main Event (for me that is) just about to start.
Like above, AJ v Ngannou is just a 10 round exhibition

May as well start hosting in empty arenas if they want all the big fights in Saudi, lack of atmosphere makes for a terrible spectacle/show.

There choice, why doesn't anyone have a choice how they live their life, smoking, drinking, boxing any numerous other activities, without dogooders wanting to ban it on their behalf.

Just about to say the same. Joyce made him look much better than he is.
Shows why “styles makes fights” is a cliche. Joyce batters Parker, Zhang batters Joyce, Parker outboxes Zhang

Complete mismatch.
Re: Joshua v Ngannou
That was a ferocious knockout. 3 good punches but that last one was just a full blooded punch on an open head. Very dangerous.
Not seen Joshua fight like that since his early days.
Very good display.

Ngannou really should not have been allowed to fight on for that final punch... Ref should have ended it.

Fair play to AJ for demolishing a "boxer" who after his 1st fight is now a known quantity and now has a boxing record of 0-0-2 ,

Re: Joshua v Ngannou
If AJ catches ‘em right, there’s a good chance they are going down. It’s when they have grit, determination, stamina and a strong jaw that AJ struggles to believe. If he catches them with what he knows are his best shots, and they DON’T go down, you can almost see his heart crumble….

Refuse to watch these kind of fights. Won’t be long before someone is killed who’s not experienced in boxing.

Couldn’t disagree more to be honest
Re: Joshua v Ngannou
I don't begrudge the boxers earning as much as they can but like most sports these days it's the fans who lose out.
The atmosphere of a big fight night is a huge part of the event, in Saudi it's just so flat, nobody seems interested apart from the money men who are just doing it as a big **** swinging contest/sport washing exercise.

Re: Joshua v Ngannou
Boxing would have been finished as a sport if AJ had lost. Its credibility would have vanished.
That last punch was thrown from so far back it was almost in the next room, and he still didn't see it coming. That said nobody would like that landing on their chin.
As someone else alluded, AJ either bosses a fight or gets beat. Britain has had so many class Boxers who just haven't had the jaw to go with the talent. It's why Usyk would destroy him, and why Roberto Duran is one of my all time favourites.

Re: Joshua v Ngannou
Good to see FN laughing and joking at the post fight presser,as that last (almost undefended) punch could have done awful damage . Though at estimates of 15-20mill per fighter you can’t blame FN who’s earned massively more than his mma career .
AJ flattened him as expected , FN’s guard was an open invite to AJ’s big cross . Unless you’re a super boxing talent like an Usyk, with multiple angles , speed etc ,boxing with what was almost a Muay Thai long guard is suicide for a novice vs a boxer of AJ’s quality .

I disagree on the chin argument, at that weight, anybody goes over if caught like that, no matter how tough your chin is.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2024 11:56 am

I agree to an extent at the lower weight classes but they ultimately just turn themselves into cabbages when they try to be too brave.

Re: Joshua v Ngannou
Some people seriously don't want to give AJ any credit.
He fought someone, who not a boxer by first trade, but who beat the World no1 in Fury, knocking him down in the process. A guy with punching power, who regularly takes elbows and knees to the chin.
You have to worry for someone without a simple guard for a future in the sport.
You have to wonder how Fury struggled so much against him though.

point of non-existent.
AJs killer punches went mainly straight through his gloves and on another day could have seriously injured
him.
Asking a MMA guy to transition to top flight boxing in a relatively short space of time would be rather like asking
your GP to do brain surgery.

Re: Joshua v Ngannou
Agree with this … he gets so much criticism but he fought Ruiz on very short notice due to his opponent drug cheating and didn’t want to cancel the fight ….
Then he lost 2 very technical boxing matches where I still think was the wrong game plan but Usyk is no joke….
Even Lewis lost fights and he’s one of the best ever.
Joshua’s CV is impressive …. More than Fury but I think they are both amazing boxers
