The only thing that is concerning with the plight of Rovers is that they have owners who are chucking in £20 million every season and they are still struggling.

Re: Blackburn will
Football is frightening.
Some Rovers fans are protesting for Venkys to sell. I'm sure Venkys would talk to anyone willing to take that burden off their hands. They're lumbered with a money pit.

Re: Blackburn will
I hope they get enough points to stay up,then the Venkys put them into administration and with the points deduction they get relegated . The snowball's revenge.

I see the Venkys court case has been postponed until August.
2m a month needs putting into the club from the owners.
They will have to get a loan against the Wharton money. Apparently the fee was split over 3 years.

Nah the best outcome will be for them to get relegated then after the court case in August they go into admin. Why settle for one relegation when we can see them relegated again to League 2

The ground was falling to bits when we went last season it's looked so tired and old, where is the money going?
Long may it continue I hope they get relegated

Championship clubs are expensive to run. I remember the Preston owners (another club who you wouldn’t say have big earners on their books) saying recently the annual budget was c. £24m to keep things running. Rovers fans could viably ask where the Wharton money has gone though.bumba wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 8:02 pmI don't understand how though god knows what's going on behind the scenes, they've nobody on big money surely.

Re: Blackburn will
Defeat at home to Ipswich this evening. It's their 'goals against ' that's really letting them down, they've scored a fair few.
Looking at their fixtures to come, I think they'll stay up...but only just.

The teams below them are awful, however there are quite a few games against each other, this is sometimes an advantage but not when you can't buy a win.
If they keep losing they are obviously in big trouble and that home game against Sheffield Wednesday looks a tasty one, they'll almost certainly limit their allocation to 2,100, won't they?

The yearly income from his sale won't even scratch the surface of their annual losses.

Well cash and accounting losses are different things. Also, I think it would be reasonable to ask if an element of a £20m transfer fee for your best player will re be reinvested.
Don’t get me wrong, they’re idiots for wanting the Venky’s out after the way they’ve been bankrolled over the years.

£11m just been invested by way of share purchase ( 18th March ) ... which makes share capital of £230,083,419 ! That means they'd invested £194,473,418 into t'Rovers in less than 13 years, on top of their original share issue of £35,610,000 to finance the purchase in April 2011 ...
Including the purchase price, their ownership has cost them £340,000 + a WEEK since they took over ...

They are away at Sunderland on Easter Monday, ( Sunderland won 2-0 at Cardiff today ), and then face Southampton at home, followed by Bristol City and Leeds United on the road. On Sunday 21st April, they host Sheffield Wednesday in what may be a " Six Pointer ", followed by high-flying Coventry the following Saturday. They finish their season away at Leicester City, at the King Power Stadium on the 4th May ...
A tough run in, to say the least ... that said, three wins will see them on 51 points and almost certain safety !!

Just been to King George's Hall to watch Robert Plant and you could hear the Ewood crowd from the town centre. I'm assuming it was Ipswich fans though must have been quite a few there......!
Also saw Sam Allardyce or at least it looked exactly like him at the gig.
Robert Plant and his band were fantastic btw.

Re: Blackburn will
They have gone seriously backwards - I thought when we played them in the second fixture at their place (yes, where we famously won the league at Ewood) they had vastly improved since the first encounter.
Good job the Venkys didn't back JDT. Look in absolute freefall now with no real identity and totally reliant on one man; Sammy Szmodics.
Even more bizarre that they have their captain Lewis Travis on loan at Ipswich, not that I particularly rate him as a top player, more of a grafter and water carrier but I mean seriously, who does that?!

Re: Blackburn will
It’s looking seriously tough for Blackburn now. They probably have the hardest set of fixtures in the last 7 games of all clubs down there fighting.
Sunderland A
Southampton H
Bristol City A
Leeds Utd A
Sheff Weds H
Coventry City H
Leicester City A
Sunderland on Monday could dictate the rest of their season. I thought Bristol City might be winnable, and could be, but I’ve just seen that they beat Leicester yesterday so it’ll be difficult.

I hope Sheffield Wednesday enjoy coming up to Lancashire as much as they used to playing us a few years ago…
Rovers lose that it would certainly become interesting.

Re: Blackburn will
Their accounts are out and include the same 'material uncertainty' line as ours. Another c£21m loss and it's up to c£300m now under Venky's.

Re: Blackburn will
Last night's result was v entertaining for us, but a heavy defeat often provokes a response in the next game, so ironically they might play better at the weekend than if they'd lost to an unlucky 90th minute goal.
I think they lost about 7-0 to Fulham a couple of seasons ago, but then stepped up in the next few fixtures. Hope not this time.

Leeds away
Sheff Wed home fighting for their lives
Coventry home on the edge of play offs
Leicester away Hopefully still needing 3 points to be sue of promotion
Could be zero points or even 8. My guess is 4 that will keep em up

major.

Brilliant article. Rovers’ finance director Mike Cheston is to leave the club. He was previously Head of Finance at Everton.
