Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
Trafford 7 - he's a lightning rod but was fine today
Assignon 6 - did ok but a needless booking
O Shea 6
Esteve 5
Taylor 6 - they targeted him but he stood up well
Vitinho 7
Cullen 8 - has to start and it's a fair question as to why he hasn't.
Berge 7
Odobert 5 - a bit of an enigma because we looked better with him but his ball retention was poor
Fofana 8 - strong display of power running and a superb goal. Terrified them.
Bruun Larsen 7 - there had better be a good reason for him coming off because it changed the game
Brownhill 5 - it's also a fair question as to why he's started as much as he has. As with Amdouni we're a better side without him.
Delcroix 4
2 points dropped. As with West Ham at home the substitutions decided the game. Unless JBL was injured he had to stay on. Bringing Delcroix on was a suicide note.
We controlled large parts of that game. Plenty of chances. Plenty of shots. But we've changed what didn't need changing and it's cost us again.
I'm pleased and disappointed in equal measure.

Trafford 6 kicking poor
Assignon 5 some very soft moments, Inc their equaliser.
O Shea 6
Esteve 6. The two centre backs were too easily turned over.
Taylor 6 had tough time on his own!
Vitinho 6
Cullen 7
Berge 7 could have been higher, if he could shoot.
Odobert 5 ineffective
Fofana 7 good centre forward play. Signing (loan only sadly) of the half season.

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
Trafford 6 - Definitely not his worst game but his kicking is shocking and I felt he could have got something on the equaliser
Assignon 4 - Poor game and an absolute wet wipe
O’Shea 6 - Average game. Didn’t do anything stupid this week
Esteve 5 - Flatters to deceive sometimes for me. A bit raw and rash but you hope that improves with experience
Taylor 6 - Had his hands full and did ok
JBL 6 - Did ok and a bit of a strange one he was subbed
Cullen 7 - We’ve looked a little more up to it since he returned
Berge 6 - Just a bit perplexed sometimes with Sander. Going forward he’s like a bulldozer but when he’s tracking back he’s a slow as tractor and is caught the wrong side
Vitinho 4 - This lads performances are up and down. As good as he was last week he was as poor this
Odobert 4 - Similar to Vitinho. Had a great game in the 10 last week but was very poor this
Fofana 6 - What a thunderba****d! Just needs to link play up better and stop being so greedy
Brownhill 3 - Just why……
Delcroix 4 - You know you’re in trouble when he’s the best defender to bring off the bench
As a Burnley fan you just knew that as soon as they got that goal back after halftime that the afternoon was going to be difficult one. The only shock is that we held on for a point….just. I just don’t understand what VK is trying to achieve this season with his team selections, tactics and subs. Fingers crossed he gets it right for our return to the Championship

I copied the list and amended to my scores but missed Bruun Larsen. He should be a 6 not a 7.IanMcL wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 4:28 pmTrafford 6 kicking poor

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
Trafford 6 - could have saved each goal but were really difficult to do, top keepers can though
Assignon 6 - error for the equaliser after doing the hard bit, summed him up, not just up and down during a game, but during a move
O Shea 7 - stuck to his task but nearly played his man on a couple of times
Esteve 6 - error for the first goal but like Assignon played well at other times
Taylor 7 - was up against it because that Kudos is hot as was Bowen 2nd half and did well
Vitinho 6 - the kind of game where a defensive winger is an asset
Cullen 8 - super display of tenacity on his old stomping ground and his burst set up the goal
Berge 8 - would be MoM but for finishing
Odobert 6 - fairly quiet today and rightly moved. Argument to take him off instead of JBL but not a hanging offence by VK like some claim
Fofana 8 MOM - super finish, a bit too selfish at times
Bruun Larsen 7 - good play but didn’t really create too much because he doesn’t beat a man
Subs:
Brownhill 7 - added passing, interceptions, tackles etc to our game and it was right to bring him on at 2-0, but for Steve missing that tackle I bet Kompany felt confident we would shut up shop
Delcroix 6 - an extra body, didn’t really notice him
Probably a fair result and a really good effort, of course our defenders struggle to be good enough, 3 of 4 haven't stayed up in the EPL and that is their level, they try but then they do get cut through. Nice to see some cutting edge at the other end, though not much.
Can’t really criticise VK today, that’s way too fussy after a good performance and cruel bit of Ings genius in claret and blue just like 2 years ago which shows lightening strikes twice in football. Unlikely to be enough but we closed the gap and remains the faintest of hopes.
Can’t criticise the ref England either, for once. Enjoyable game especially when you are resigned and can simply try to enjoy it (though I was feeling it by the end).

Berge - 9 - A player that would look at home in any team in the division. Unlucky not to score twice and showed gret awareness to square for Brownhill at the end. He is our new Jack Cork but with more to his game and a higher ceiling.
Cullen - 8
Odobert - 4 He cant receive the ball with his back to play so shouldnt play there. Rodriguez is clearly the man for that role or even Tresor has he looks after the ball better than Odobert.
JBL - 7 - Diligent defensively and a threat one v one.
Fofana - 9 An absolute menace for the whole game.
Brownhill - 4 - that attempted backheel on the touchline summed him up at the moment. Total lack of composure. Also could have bet a lot of money on him not scoring when Berge fed him at the end.

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
Im not surprised with that horrific bit of play acting that nearly cost us a goal. I thought apart from that he was ok defensively

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
Trafford 5 - thought he didn’t really have too much to do but his long passing was pretty woeful.
Assignon 5 - poor defensively and far too laid back to play effectively at this level. I hope his loan isn’t turned into a permanent.
O’Shea 6 - did ok but still making some of the same mistakes he seems to make on a regular basis. Dreadful on both conceded goals.
Esteve 7 - carried the ball out of defence well and generally defended well but was part of the issue for their first goal.
Taylor 6 - battled hard against two very good wingers without much support.
Vitinho 5 - hardly involved on the game but didn’t cover himself in glory when he was involved.
Cullen 8 - excellent again. Always showing for the ball and using it well in tandem with his midfield partner to retain the ball. Battled hard defensively too.
Berge 8 - see above but also drove forward and showed great composure when needed for the likes of Brownhill’s late chance. Part-culpable for the equaliser.
Larsen 7 - thought he had a very bright 45. Picked the ball up in those pockets and was a threat.
Odobert 6 - bright start but too weak at times. Not as involved out wide but always think something might happen when he gets the ball in the final third.
Fofana 8 - absolute thunder-******* of a strike and ran the channels superbly all game. As good this week as he was poor last week.
Brownhill 6 - not a huge impact on the game but delighted to see him play more advanced for his pressing and energy. Should have scored the winner!
Delcroix 6 - shored things up well. Couldn’t be blamed for either goal.
Much much better today. Cullen and Berge looked great again and Fofana excellent.
A right sided defensive trio of Assignon, O’Shea and Vitinho is enough to send shivers down my spine.

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
Trafford 6 - not really much to do - steady
Assignon 5 - not great. Picked up sully booking, could have walked for a 2nd yellow. Shocking attempt to con the ref into carding their player which would have cost us a goal but for a slip.
O shea 5 - last few games he has been v shaky - awful for the first goal, poor distribution
Esteve 5 - equally poor
Taylor 7 - worked really hard - only defender who looked like he knew his job. Got zero support 2nd half until JGB sme on
Brun Larson 6 - was decent but the idea he was doing really well is overstating it.
Cullen 7 - good performance- worked hard and kept the ball well
Berge 7 - back to his best today although should really have scored near the end
Odobert 3 - awful - offered nothing and gave the ball away a lot in the 2nd half
Vithino 5 - did ok but I forgot he was playing until about 10 mins before he was sacrificed (ironically just as he turned uo)
Fofana 7 - never stopped- fantastic goal from nothing. A handful but lacks a bit of finesse
Brownhill 6 - did ok but should have scored when Beege pulled it back
Delcroix 5 - part of a poor 5 man defence that let Ings have the freedom of our area.
Other subs not really on long enough.
A decent performance although we got away with a few chances and although first half we shaded it we struggled 2nd half - fortunate to be 2 up we totally failed to keep the gift. The stats at the end showed we were 2nd best (22 shots to 11, 2.2 expected goals vs 0.6, 52 to 48 possession, more corners) so any claims we were matching West Ham is a bit over the top. Nevertheless we got some shots away, scored twice and showed a bit of fight too which is promising).

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
Trafford - 6 - still needs to bully the opposition more - requires too much protection
Assignon - 5 -spent too much time on the floor trying to win a foul rather than staying on his feet and defending
O'Shea - 6 - similar to above - some good blocks but stay on your feet - Burnley don't get decisions that easily
Esteve - 6 - worked hard
Taylor - 7 - good shift from Charlie today
Vitinho - 5 - OK but better last week
Berge - 7 - Good but should've got that shot away in the last few minutes
Cullen - 8* - Good performance again - MOM for me
Odobert - 5 - not his best game - looked tired
JBL - 7 - Was better than Brownhill - not sure why he was taken off
Fofana - 8 - Great goal - some good movements but the end product is still missing and got tangled up with his feet / ball too many times today
Brownhill - 6 - lost some momentum when h came on
Delcroix - 6 - provided some important blocks

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
Trafford 7
Assignon 5 - weak and culpable for 2nd goal, also had a hideous moment near the end when we were attacking and he simply failed to see a defender when he should have crossed. Would rather have Roberts.
O Shea 6
Esteve 5 - decent 1st half when under no pressure, sadly awful when pressed 2nd
Taylor 7 - best of the defence for me
Vitinho 5 - dreadful crossing week after week, please play a proper midfielder/winger there instead
Cullen 7
Berge 7
Odobert 5 - played out of position
Fofana 7 - good goal, very greedy though, frustrating
Bruun Larsen 6
Brownhill 6 - thought he did ok and was the right substitution at the time, it was the awful defending, not the switch in midfield that threw us
Delcroix 5

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
From tv and after watching the Sky highlights
Trafford 6 still too weak with poor distribution
Assignon 6 does some things really well
O'Shea 5 we were a shambles at centre back
Esteve 5 we were a shambles at centre back
Taylor 6 played well against the dangerous Kudus and then Bowen but got caught stranded too often
Vitihno 5 I like Vito but for for all his energy and enthousiasm his end product is poor
Cullen 7 very good recycling of the ball and movement
Berge 7 would have said mom but for Fofana's super strike
BL 6 was playing well and I can't understand why he was subbed at half time
Odobert 4 another lightweight fancy dancer we signed in summer
Fofana 8 strong all round performance, plus one for screamer
Brownhill 4 did sweet fa when he came on
A much better performance against a team who surprisingly did press us at all, allowing us to carry the ball forward in numbers for once. Our centre back pairing yesterday was slow on the turn, often out of position and overall very weak. Our midfield cemtral two of Cullen and Berge werent put under pressure and hence were allowed to influence the game. Fofama ran non stop all the game and his goal was extra special.
We need to sort out the back 5 for the Championship.

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
Yeah everything he does is either brilliant or dreadful there is no middle ground. One minute he breaks up and attack and gets the ball moving forwards quickly, the next minute he's diving on the floor giving the opposition a free hit on goal.

Trafford 5 can't remember a save he made, poor distribution, didn't command his area generally weak.
