Tresor
Not clear in this article that we actually have signed him permanently

Re: Tresor
Would be great news if we hadn’t (though from earlier reports I fear we have). I’m still angry about his “contribution” at home to Luton and really struggle to see him coming good. If, indeed, we have signed him I suppose he might be effective in the Championship but he comes across as really not wanting to be here very much.
Talk in that article of hope of making the Belgium Euros squad is laughable based on his performance for us.

Not that I think it’ll matter in the end but if we ever get a run together and those points count you could argue his complete lack of intelligence cost us relegation, so I’d be keeping my head down if I were him.
FWIW I think there’s a player in there but he’s not premier league level yet. Kompany did the right thing dropping him after Luton. I think we’ll find the loan conditions include us staying up though and when that happens I think he’ll go back to Belgium.
Re: Tresor
I'm hoping we haven't triggered the conditions to sign him permanently. He never impressed and looks like he couldn't be bothered to be here. On top of that, no chance anyone pays anywhere near 17 million for him so just like Weghorst, we would need to loan him out.

As trash as Tresor is, it wasn’t him who crumpled like a leaf for the equaliser so if it did come down to dropping two points against Luton (which it won’t) than I know who I’d be blaming…NewClaret wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 3:12 pmHis performance vs Luton was nothing short of imbecilic.

Re: Tresor
I get that he hasn’t been great this season, I don’t think he has been used right up to now though, he should have been used in the Amdouni position rather than as a winger not sure he is a winger more an attacking midfielder. There is something there with him though and I think in a more progressive team he could be a revelation. If 1 of him or Amdouni stay they will rip up the Championship.

Tresor would rip Championship defences apart next season. I hope he stays even though it is unclear.

Re: Tresor
I agree he can rip up the Championship, although if we are signing a player for circa £17m to rip up championship defences, but can't do it in the PL, then that's an overspend. Especially considering Zaroury, Benson and Tella (albeit on loan) did that for a lot less last season.

The idea that he would "rip up" the Championship is based on what ? He's been awful whenever I've seen him ...I mean really, really terrible..... so this opinion seems to me to be just a hopeful fantasy. I accept that his stats in Belgium may offer some hope but the evidence of my own eyes suggest the only ripping uo to be done would ideally be of his contract..

Re: Tresor
You obviously did not see him against Liverpool at home then. The only thing missing then was his final ball which would not be the case against defences far inferior to LiverpoolStalbansclaret wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 8:55 pmThe idea that he would "rip up" the Championship is based on what ? Re: Tresor
I really find it hard to understand how anyone can have come up with an informed opinion about his ability in the championship either way based on his appearances up to now. I believe he will rip the championship up but whilst I have seen slithers of his ability it is mainly based on him being one of if not the best player in the Belgium league and how others performed in the championship who weren’t anywhere near that accolade. I accept I could be wrong and let’s face it I don’t think he will be here anyway I suspect his lack of appearances recently are probably mainly due to us not wanting to trigger the purchase option in his loan.

Yes I have quite a bit, although clearly only tracking he has been doing recently is the splinters in his backside. I wouldn’t want him tracking back too much though as what I have seen when he does that isn’t great, he is somebody you want with the ball at his feet in the opposition territory not in yours.

Re: Tresor
I had got really annoyed at fans slagging him off for only 7 minutes against Luton. After all, the games where he has played a half or more in the league, Man Utd H, Liverpool H, Fulham A, Chelsea H, we have been good on the whole and deserved more than the 3 points we got, even though it was against mainly big 6 teams, and while he didn’t excel he didn’t do terribly either. Brentford the only exception.Stalbansclaret wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2024 2:52 pmWould be great news if we hadn’t (though from earlier reports I fear we have). But, he hasn’t been seen since that Luton game. And those comments in the article suggest it isn't just some of our fans who have lost belief in him, Kompany has too. He will be off for sure, whatever the terms of the deal. A shame because he has a lot of talent who just needed to adapt to the speed, and takes a better dead ball than any of ours.

Our likely spend for the Championship will be around £30m - he’s going to be half of it. Esteve the other half. Let’s hope some mug comes along to fund some extra purchases.
Frankly I wouldn’t spend anything on Tresor based on what he has shown so far

He's not the first player that's had an underwhelming first season in the Premier League. There's a good player in there. He was our top target in the summer for a reason. I hope he stays, as long as he's up for the fight.

Re: Tresor
The problem we have with Tresor is the only way we're going to get anything like the money that we paid (are due to pay?) for him back, let alone make a bit of profit, is if he has a really good season in Championship followed by a convincing stint in the Premier League.
If he doesn't want to be here and we have to move him on this summer we'll make a significant loss on him.
So for financial reasons I imagine we'll have no choice but to hang on to him and hope that he actually comes good. But if he wants out then we'll have to cut our losses.
Then again maybe some posters turn out to be right and it actually is impossible to lose money on any of the players we've signed.

Re: Tresor
The more you analyse our dealings from last summer, the more ridiculous they seem. The Championship is ranked as the 11th most difficult league in the world, higher than the top flight in Belgium (which was ranked 13th). League One is ranked as the 28th best league in the world. What made anyone believe that paying out what we did on Tresor and Trafford would work? We know the step up from the Championship is huge. Expecting players who aren't even playing at Championship level to step up is beyond ridiculous.

Not quite following this, are you saying Premier League sides shouldn't sign players from the Belgium League as the Championship is rated tougher ?
Re: Tresor
That’s an interesting table. Surprised the Bundesliga is 2nd and surprised the Belgian League is so low. I’m not surprised that the Championship is so high compared to some overseas leagues.

Hi Elizabeth, isn't it strange that you can't possibly judge the potential of Tresor from his limited game time, but others can write him off as crap based on the same time.

Because when your supposedly valued at £17m you'd think he would show some promise… I've not seen it.
I doubt we’ll see profit from the likes of Trafford, Amdouni, Tessor, Foster and Ramsey because of the original outlay.

Despite the limited game time I can’t remember a player making such a poor first impression than Tresor other than Ramsey and perhaps Tony Hancock. All of which had massive outlays.

It’s a well argued point but there are always exceptions- non-league players stepping up to PL or Championship etc . We also know Bundesliga players often struggle to make it in the PL.
The recruitment is mainly carried out by our recruitment analysts using algorithms. This season indicates that either the software or our analysts need an upgrade - but maybe they’re right after all -
Tresor - his stats looked excellent - his attitude perhaps less so
Trafford - highly rated by the best club in the world and outstanding at League 1. Shame we’ve never seen him behind a decent defence.
Maybe just too much too soon for our recruits in a league where experience counts

Re: Tresor
Tresor isn’t our player he is currently on loan I suspect if we had triggered his purchase agreement and he had become our player it would have been announced already apart from just in articles from dodgy football sites. Possibly he may be purchased at the end of the season but for me the most likely he is on loan still and not playing at the minute due to us not wanting to trigger the purchase agreement. Sad as I believe given time and proper minutes in the correct position he would become a major asset to us. Amdouni I think I agree mainly because I believe he will be off on loan next season. The others I don’t get your thought process I know this season hasn’t been great, but all are young and will benefit massively from this season and most likely will kick on again. On top of that Foster only cost around £7mill if you believe what you read in the net there is no way he will be sold for less than that.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 9:37 amBecause when your supposedly valued at £17m you'd think he would show some promise… I've not seen it.

Re: Tresor
Mostly agree but I think you're wrong on Foster. Young promising striker who we signed for about €11/12m, surely some profit in that - how much profit is debatable, but I think we make some on him eventually.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 9:37 amBecause when your supposedly valued at £17m you'd think he would show some promise… I've not seen it.

I do also think we can see a return on Ramsey, but that's based on hope.

Re: Tresor
As much as I don’t like what I’ve seen from Ramsey to date I think he will benefit from being in The Championship. He should have been loaned out this season at that level imo as nowhere near ready or good enough for the PL yet. I think he needs introducing slowly as a squad member and not to be used as a starter even at that level although he has some experience of playing at that level. With Tresor I’m not sure he has the attitude or work rate necessary.
Re: Tresor
The problem is, fans are fickle and don’t understand that the value doesn’t matter right now, today, because we are not selling today. The more relevant question would be 2-3 years down the line, what’s Ramsey’s value then?claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 9:37 amBecause when your supposedly valued at £17m you'd think he would show some promise… I've not seen it.

And how is Foster not worth £8m+?
