Parking at Sainsburys

Post by burnley007 » Tue Mar 19, 2024 10:48 am

Does anyone know if you can safely park at Sainsburys for a night match?

I'm down for the Wolves game and usually prepay to park there, but do I really need to?

You need to be very careful with supermarket car parks, many of them are run by external companies.

Hargreaves car park bottom of Parliament Street,
less than a fiver.

Better off playing it safe...

Had to nip into TK Maxx the other day and noticed the signs there saying 3hrs parking which if you got there at 7:15 would mean you had until 10:15 to get back and get out

I use Sainsbury’s on a match day. Use the Horizon parking app and it costs about £3 for 4/5 hours.

Yeah, that's why I'm checking, those companies love to get you a fine!

Try thr justpark app, they may well have Sainsburys car park on there so you can prebook it for longer for a small fee

I always wonder about these threads about parking- some people have a great, often what they would class as their 'secret parking spot' and whether or not they fear that being occupied one day when a "Found a great parking place" thread starts and it's their place :D

I share ClaretTony's concerns about using supermarket car parks. Maybe nip in and buy something cheap, a sandwich, chewing gum, drink for the journey back, anything. They can't give you a fine if you're a paying customer and leaving the car park within the allocated time frame.

It doesn't matter if you purchase or not. The only criteria for the parking management is the time allowed. 2 or 3 hours. ANPR does the rest.

I'd be wary parking on TK Maxx car park for a night match as I think the 3 hours free parking only applies during TK Maxx and Home Bargains opening hours (they close 7 or 8pm ) so chances are you'd receive a PCN from the parasite 3rd party parking company if you were parked there later than those hours.

There is also a sign saying 'no matchday parking' but not sure how they police it on a Saturday lunchtime or 3pm ko as there will surely be non match going shoppers parking there during those times as well.

I had no idea that you could pay directly to park on Sainsburys. I don't need it for matchday parking, but this is useful for work reasons. Cheers!
