Re: Average Player Ratings
Berge is my player of the year so far
Vitinho gets that award nobody wanted as a junior, “most improved”
He’s really grown on me, purely because I love a trier

Re: Average Player Ratings
Typical of this season as a whole that 3 of the top 4 have missed most of it.
Swings and roundabouts, we're due some good luck.

Re: Average Player Ratings
Interesting that Dara O'Shea is averaging nearly 6. Shows what a turnaround he's had. I suspect he was nearer 5 after the first 10 games as he was getting slated week in, week out.

Re: Average Player Ratings
As Colborn says, 4 of the top 6 have missed most of the season, and the games they played in we often lost so we can’t say it was apples and pears.
We simply haven’t been able to get the right team out, partly by accident and partly by choice.
It would be amusing if Muric gets in his 10 appearances by the end and then has an average of 8+. Safe to say that would set a narrative over the summer.

Re: Average Player Ratings
Interesting that ten posters gave Muric 10/10 on the ratings for the Brentford game. That's 'Out of this World' according to the guide there.
Out of this World.
Was Muric's performance really 'Out of this World'?

Re: Average Player Ratings
One poster gave him 10 yet gave Trafford 7 for his performance at Brighton
Re: Average Player Ratings
He played really well and deserved very good ratings, but not a 10 or out of this world. I imagine some of the ratings were influenced by their bias towards Muric and against Trafford unfortunately.
Re: Average Player Ratings
I think they are posting about how they feel about things rather than the actual performance.

Re: Average Player Ratings
Interesting Beyer being so high people were trying to tell me O'Shea is better than him
Re: Average Player Ratings
I think they were posting about his IMPACT on the game and the team. Which is exactly what they have been posting about when giving low marks to Trafford
1 major error by a GK can IMPACT the team. Unlike when say a midfielder turns over possession or a striker misses a great chance
The Luton ‘goal’ and the Brentford non goal sum up IMPACT on our season perfectly.

Id agree with him that Muric v Brentford was better than Trafford v Brighton.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:47 amOne poster gave him 10 yet gave Trafford 7 for his performance at Brighton

Re: Average Player Ratings
Sadly was always going to happen. Vitinho had a huge impact on the result but didn't get half the praise that Muric did.
Muric was good and 8 seems a more than reasonable mark for him but nobody on Saturday was a 10.

Re: Average Player Ratings
I firmly believe Muric should have started at home against City and had the opportunity to prove himself ... I also feel he should have been put back in long ago
But Trafford was class against Brighton and although Muirc had a great game on Saturday against 10 men .... No way he out preformed Trafford that day.
Perspective is Key

Re: Average Player Ratings
Muric rating was 8.5. Trafford at Brighton was rated 8.81. So no anti Trafford or pro Muric bias in those marksThe Shire Claret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 11:34 amI firmly believe Muric should have started at home against City and had the opportunity to prove himself ... Re: Average Player Ratings
Trafford had the highest rating for that Brighton performance. He kept us in it.

Re: Average Player Ratings
Muric was very impressive and deserved a 9.
The people giving him 10 balanced out the ones giving him 7s or 8s.

Re: Average Player Ratings
He did - he also passed the ball straight back to Brighton - meaning we faced more shots... On that occasion we managed to get something from the game, on other occasions we haven't managed to sustain the pressure facing more attacks.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 11:54 amTrafford had the highest rating for that Brighton performance. Re: Average Player Ratings
Yep i thought it was overhyped at the time. There wasn't anything most Prem keepers expect to save. He just had a lot to do. He was still nervy from corners and average in possessionClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 11:54 amTrafford had the highest rating for that Brighton performance. He kept us in it.
Muric played with a huge presence on Sunday and surprised me with how much he has improved in dealing with crosses. He got a clean punch on most of them. His decision making was excellent and i think its his best performance in a Burnley shirt.

Re: Average Player Ratings
I’ve said for a while Trafford had been scapegoated. I think these ratings back that theory up.
With the treatment he’s received this season you’d expect him to be rock bottom. Should have been taken out of the firing line by Kompany some time ago.

Re: Average Player Ratings
A.9 is excellent and that is certainly a term I would use for it and the rating I gave it.
I bet there were more than 10 posters rating him under 9. We can spin this both ways.
I can certainly agree it wasn’t out of this world, but if that performance wasn’t excellent, what is?

Re: Average Player Ratings
Agreed. I would also argue Trafford at BHA was close. A 10 is when you walk away from a match knowing that keeper was never going to be beaten. But, I say again, Muric was excellent. Not match fit. Not match sharp. Pummelled by Toney. Exposed twice by dodgy defensive work. But came through it excellently.

Yep - that performance was outrageous.
Can still remember that save from Zlatan's bicycle kick. Unreal.

Re: Average Player Ratings
My all time favourite save from a Burnley keeper. There have been others that were technically better but as a moment, that save edges it. Remember Heaton saying the force of it nearly broke his armCoolClaret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 12:42 pmYep - that performance was outrageous.

Re: Average Player Ratings
I am one of the posters who gave Muric a 10 and I also commented on my reasoning. I said:
” Muric 10 . After sitting on the bench for three quarters of the season, watching his team mates on the pitch play some absolutely dire performances with p!ss poor results, he came in for his first PL game and gave a masterclass, lifting his team mates and the crowd, leading to three points. At the end of the game the broadcaster I watched focused on him, showing all his team mates hugging him and patting him on the back. That is why he gets a 10 from me”.
I stand by what I said then and believe his presence changed the whole attitude and performance of the team. Also in the past I have voted for Trafford as man of the match on at least two occasions, so there is “Trafford hatred” from me. I simply believe Trafford was no where near ready for the PL when VK decided to make him his number one at the beginning of the season and we should have gone with Muric from the start, because he had an excellent second half of our promotion season.
