Any truth in the rumour the home shirt will feature both claret and blue.

Is it Castore who do or did that Aston Villa wet look home shirt ?

Been having those same issues for years now, so it’s become expected rather than unusual. 🤔😉🤣

Yes it is Castore who did the wet look shirt and rather than own up that it was a production error they tried to market it as a new 'technical element' until they were called out for it.

There’s an article online saying we’d signed a deal with Umbro until 2026?! Good and bad news if true.

Bad:

- From what I’ve seen Castore kits are quite plain and boring
- Quality issues reported although you’d expect they might’ve resolved them next year.

Good:

- I think they do some miles better/smart merchandise I might actually wear
- Umbro have been hit & miss - they deserve sacking for this years efforts though
- We won’t have templated GK kits and training wear that are exactly the same as loads of other local clubs

Very expensive in comparison to Umbro and other manufacturers we have had previously. Expect a hike in replica shirt prices if they do become kit supplier.

It was your post that made me think twice. I was told ages ago that it would be Castore and I'm sure I posted it on here at the time. But that article definitely suggests it's Umbro for another two seasons. I do think it is going to be Castore.

The Newcastle kit by Castore looks like a really awful cheap see-through effort.

According to the article linked, the Umbro deal was in 2021 after the ALK takeover.

I have no reason to doubt you at all, I was told some time ago that it was going to be Castore. No idea on colours or design though other than potentially one worrying potential for the third kit.

Kit deals are always a strange one, I'm never sure how they are structured because it seems to be different everytime.

That could quite possibly be wrong and I’m sure all contract extensions have exit clauses.

There seems to be enough people in the know saying it’s Castore now and I’m sure there was some link to Castore via an ex Exec so that would make sense?

Although Castore seem to have a bad reputation I’m all up for a change. I’m not a massive fan of Umbro.

Castore have a deal with Umbro that means some of their stuff will be manufactured by them but bear the Umbro branding.

Can’t say I understand all this but here’s details of the deal PremierLeagueClass is referring to:

https://castore.com/blogs/press/castore ... ts-licence

So basically more likely the shirts will say Umbro on them but Castore will be the partner?

Would explain the link.

Umbro could/can be good (think that 79/80 shirt)

The training gear and GK shirt selections being stock for multiple clubs is a bit lame though isn't it? You'd think for a PL outfit all that stuff would be unique.

Shirts are obviously a main seller every year but I still think the club could do more with better non playing gear merch offerings for those of us that don't like to wear football shirts.

JJ Watt seems to have more of an idea in that department - see what plays out.

As for Castore? meh, hopefully they've improved on their material for the players shirts.

I'd love it if Kappa was still doing footy shirts - saw this concept (mind the old, horrific sponsor mind)

Maybe Umbro have cancelled the deal after losing money this season, with lack of sales?

South Shields wear the same colours as we do and have had some great looking kits over the years.
Umbro provide their kits and even though it’s similar to ours looks much better

Nice - yeah, seems a bit strange that a non-league team have my thought into some of their designs than we've had... though can't complain on last seasons (even if it wasn't to my particular taste).

Hummel be cool as well - would be refreshing to have a new (yet classic) kit manufacturer that we haven't had before!

Agree the training & GK gear being stock for multiple clubs is really small time. PL clubs should have their own designs.

Also agree the whole merchandise and leisure wear offering needs a massive upgrade and a flight to quality. I’m not saying we shouldn’t also cater to all budgets but when you see football fans walking around in some of the labels they wear there’s a clear market for decent gear we just do t cater for at the moment.

Umbro don't manufacture their own stuff. The Umbro brand is owned by Iconix who own a variety of fashion brands (disappointed we didn't go with their other brand Pony rather than Umbro) and just does licensing and marketing for them.

The UK licence for Umbro is held by GL Dameck who do the actual production. https://www.gldgroup.com/about-us

GL Dameck have recently sub-licensed this to Castore
https://fashionunited.uk/news/fashion/c ... 4031974684

It's not really clear whether they will continue to be Umbro branded (I would imagine this will continue to be the case for their bigger deals like England Rugby and West Ham) or some may end up as Castore or even co-branded (seems unlikely).

you may have been thinking of this from the takeover thread last May - of course Thompson left (it is suspected it wasn't by choice) last August/September and joined 777 Partners

I wouldn't be surprised if there are 3 or 4 more investors in ALK/VSL in that picture - I have been trying to find a picture of Antonio Davila Parra (he is a bit of a ghost online) for quite some time now so I cannot tell if he is there -hoping someone else has more info

The guy directly behind Alan Pace is the club COO Mark Thompson - he used to work for Castore so it will be interesting to see what happens with the next kit deal (summer of 2024 i think)

Are Castore still part owned by the EG brothers? Too much of a Blackburn connection for my liking!

All the Castore kits/clothes I’ve seen have been awful. Proper bargain bin vibes. A poor-man’s Donnay.

Yes, that’s a good kit.

I’m not against plain per se, I quite like ‘clean’ looking kits, my comment was that from what I’ve seen all 3 kits are usually quite boring designs.

Are Castore still part owned by the EG brothers? Too much of a Blackburn connection for my liking!

All the Castore kits/clothes I’ve seen have been awful. Proper bargain bin vibes. A poor-man’s Donnay.
Says so here:

Sound like minority investors but still one to add to the negative column :D

Don’t think EG group do much with Rovers do they?

It would be great if we had adidas again

There kits are so much better than Umbro even the bog standard ones.

Are we sure that the strip will have the Castore brand?

Castore announced yesterday that they had purchased the Umbro brand in the UK but would still be marketing Umbro

Castore is absolute junk. I can’t believe they’ve managed to get some of the contracts that they have.

You'd think, being a multi-billion pound industry and having 'professionals' agreeing to these contracts, that the Club have had assurances and are confident of the quality/lead times for delivery etc.

This explains everything then
