As welcome as it is for you to make as many threads as possible into the same moaning about the same players, what you've said here is proper silly.
It’s not silly at all. But that’s your opinion. Vincent Kompany has royally messed up with his signings this season. They have been abysmal. If you cannot see this then I think you must be an eternal optimist or need to arrange an appointment with a good opthalmologist as a matter of urgency.

Because we can't get rid of him, I suppose.
It's manageable if you get somebody continually picking up the tab until the deal finishes that seems to be the way to go. I don't think some of the signings are researched thoroughly enough & carry baggage.

It’s a massive failure on someone’s part that we are this bad, at times strikerless and he is out on loan. He probs hasn’t helped himself but the point stands.

Possibly, or maybe he just didn't like it when he got here.
I doubt we could recoup much of the transfer fee, though, just cover the wages.

Not enough research goes into signing these players, take foster for example the amount of games he's missed for whatever reason(s) & that's being sympathetic to his problems but for a team fighting relegation you simply cannot afford to have your star striker missing for so long.

Did Foster have a history of mental illness?

I reoccurrence from when? And if it was prior to joining us, how do you know the club could be aware of the situation?

You tell me & we'll both know but it's fair to assume wiki cannot just state something like that without it being true & if that's the case you'd expect the club to know.

How would you expect the club to know if it wasn't known at the time or picked up through the medical?

It beggars belief then that wiki had historic knowledge but somehow it wasn't picked up upon then. It leads to it was kept secret & not disclosed but every health questionnaire I've ever filled out you are asked questions relating to past illnesses.

The Wikipedia page you are relying on specifically references him first speaking about his historical mental health problems in July 2023. He joined us in January 2023.

Alternatively you simply cannot write off buying a hugely popular and promising international footballer because they previously had a bout of depression…

To me a reoccurrence is something happening more than once you might have your own version of what that word means & we can disagree on that basis.

Of course it means happening more than once. The point is you keep referring to the Wikipedia article, including saying that the same information was available when Foster signed when clearly the content on Wikipedia is post him signing for us. And more to the point, it's entirely possible that the club could not have reasonably known given the nature of the illness.

I'm not spending all day arguing the toss. It emerged in november that he was suffering & to my knowledge it was the first time it had happened under contract with BFC so which can only mean it occurred prior to January when he had initially signed. It was have been a blank health questionnaire or the quickest medical in mankind to not know.

It may well have occurred prior to Jan-23. The point, again, is that given the nature of mental illness it should be entirely reasonable to understand why it might not picked up through a rigorous medical.

Yes, I've repeatedly acknowledged that. My key point is it doesn't mean the club could have known. Foster himself might not have known at the time, or certainly been open about it, given the understandable denial and taboo around mental illness.

In this 4-4-2 / 4-2-2-2 ish system that we've adopted, Weghorst would be absolutely tailor made for that second striker position for us right now - honestly if you can't see that then I don't know what to tell you.

It's a shame how it's all played out and yes he's probably a bit of an arse but he seems straight and the sort of bloke that just says it as it is and tells you his intentions/plans - like a lot of Dutch do.

If that upsets you because he doesn't give off some clichéd platitudes and post inauthentic PR attempts on his social media then I think it says more about you than it does about him.

Signed on the last day of the Jan 2022 transfer window, as a replacement for Chris Wood. We only had 2 weeks to sign a striker; were we just desperate to get someone in?

Yes + the fact he had a very decent pedigree and we were getting him for (what we thought) was a decent fee.

He might not have bagged much for United on loan last season, but they certainly played better with him in the side imo. Good foil for Rashford.

Kompany said in the summer - not at all in a disparaging way - that we'd have to rebuild around Weghorst and that's what Weghorst wanted.

Signed on the last day of the Jan 2022 transfer window, as a replacement for Chris Wood. We only had 2 weeks to sign a striker; were we just desperate to get someone in?
Not enough research goes into finding the right sort of players. if the last windows scattergun approach to recruitment isn't testament enough to convince people of that sadly nothing ever will be.

'Burnley divisive XI' would be a fun thing to do... Thread worthy!
Not sure who we would have as the GK

If he didn't disclose or was unaware of the extent of his problems, how would you expect the club to know?
Well to say he went on record speaking about his time at westerlo & the struggles he encountered & how he received help from them I'd expect the club to know nothing

Weghorst plays similar to how Crouch did. Strength not with heading but with close control. Deceivingly tall, a bit like Glen Little too.
Doesn't Crouch have the most headed goals in the Premier League?

Means more winning headers for knock downs and being used as a head on a stick/target man - which incidentally (though far past his best) Crouchy showed that he couldn't do whilst he was here... was very annoying seeing Dyche launch the ball into the box for the 10 mins or so he was on the pitch whilst Vydra was twiddling his thumbs on the bench, though I'll digress.
