Re: Internationals 23-3-24
We look as far away as we’ve ever been at winning owt. A dogshit performance against a bang average Brazil side.

Yes England can’t quite get past being around 4th best in the world or put another way loosing semi finalists in some tournaments.
Re: Internationals 23-3-24
Didn't watch the game, but the offside law really sucks doesn't it?
In my mind, (and every sane football fan), once Endrick carries on running and contributing to the attack, he should be deemed interfering with play
He's gained such an advantage by starting his run so early.
But no let's concentrate instead on if someone's big toe is offside.
If I was made president of FIFA tomorrow, the first thing I'd do is make massive sweeping changes to the offside law. It has go far beyond why it was introduced in the first place.
TBH I don't understand why strikers don't do this more, just goal hang 20 yards beyond the play, and then receive a pull back from an on-side winger to score. Because in the current rules, this is allowed.

Re: Internationals 23-3-24
Virtually all the teams that win international tournaments (with the exception of Denmark who were called up off the beach in Euro 92 ) bed a squad,a formation and a team in over more than a year, go on unbeaten runs of 25 games or more and don't dick around with anything for the sake of it.
It's why I won barrel fulls of cash last Euro's when I backed Italy to win it!
There's not a cat in hell's chance England win Euro 24 unfortunately with that dull wet lettuce in charge

It should be scrapped for me. Open the field up. If somebody wants to play a goal hanger, mark him. Plenty of room in midfield for them to show their talent.Ric_C wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 10:26 amDidn't watch the game, but the offside law really sucks doesn't it?

Re: Internationals 23-3-24
We genuinely have several players now that could get into any international team-Bellingham.Rice, Kane and several others. We have others who are regulars in English teams that can match the best club teams in the world ie Saka, Foden, Grealish, Stones, Walker. What we don't have is an elite manager who can get the best out of the team and is astute and clever enough of finding a way to win against any opposition. Hes only just let Phillips go, he is still keeping Henderson in the squad who was finished two seasons ago, and still persists in McGuire. All three, he claims have never let him down, but when did you last see one get a 9 out of 10 performance for our country . I would rather have lost last night having tried Braithwaite who has been outstanding this year-it was after all a friendly

England had their chances. I'd play Foden and Bellingham central, ahead of a holding midfielder.

Sorry but anybody who says that doesn't understand the game at all.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 12:10 pmIt should be scrapped for me. Open the field up. If somebody wants to play a goal hanger, mark him. Plenty of room in midfield for them to show their talent.
You would have forwards just sat there in front of goal and defenders wouldn't push up field due to forwards running in behind.
There would be a lot less running. You'd have players like Kane waiting near the goal and there would be less running about. You'd have 90 minutes of players hoofing the ball forward and hoping for a lucky deflection. And the defnders would sit there leading to a congested and boring matches.
The offside rule is brilliant, yet those who don't understand the game seem to hate it without thinking.

Toney did this at every one of Brentford's free kicks.

Yet we always get people telling us how they won't be watching and find it a waste of time. We know it's because humans love attention, but I mean, come on.

All the powers that be need to do is revert to the original offside rule, there was nothing wrong with it.wecef15003 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 3:44 pmSorry but anybody who says that doesn't understand the game at all.

Re: Internationals 23-3-24
There was a lot wrong with the earlier offside law. Whether a player in an offside position was interfering with play was entirely down to the opinion of the referee! Just take a look at the England v Portugal semi final in 1966, for both of Charlton’s goals, Roger Hunt was stood in an offside position close to the action but the referee allowed both goals to stand, another referee could have disallowed both.

But none of the revised rules have improved it.
And I think most honest England fans know how we won the World Cup
