The Jamesy appreciation society must have been absolutely creaming himself when this news broke.
Vincent Kompany has not got a real dilemma on his hands now who to start for the Chelsea game.

What an honour for Trafford, very happy for him and surely this can only be a benefit to our club. I still hope to see Muric in the nets at Stamford Bridge, mind, as I feel a miracle survival effort from Burnley requires him to be in goal.

Wonder how many other clubs have an element of their "fan" base who can't wait to post something negative about a player basically being called up to train with the National side.

Isn’t it quite common for under 21 players to get promoted to the main squad when there’s an injury? It’ll be a good experience for him, hopefully even restore some confidence.
Other than that it’s barely worth mentioning, it’s not like it’s the main story on sky sports news.

The main protagonist claims to be in his 60's too but posts like a 12-year old who's had his pocket money stopped.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 11:04 amWonder how many other clubs have an element of their "fan" base who can't wait to post something negative about a player basically being called up to train with the National side.

Trafford better then Pope?
Well if he will be better then that would be great.

Makes a bit of a mockery as to why Muric hasn’t received an England call up yet.

I think that to sneer at people because they happen to support a current Burnley player is poor form. Maybe you don't llke one or more of the players representing our club, but even so, don't scorn those who do.

You are way off the mark here. I don’t dislike Trafford and I have never said anything abusive about him on this board unlike some other posters.
I just don’t think he is a very good goalkeeper at present and our manager has made a massive error of judgement in keeping him in the side up until the last match.
He may turn out to be an excellent goalkeeper in years to come. I hope he does.
You guys can gang up on me all you like, I am just stating what I can see.

Pope has freakish arm length and a large frame for a tall dude. Made Joe Hart look small.
Popey criminally underrated even till this day. There's absolutely 0 evidence that can make anyone make such a claim.
Re: James Trafford England call up
An interesting stat from the Athletic:
Trafford ... has the highest cross-stop percentage of any English goalkeeper in the Premier League (7.2 per cent).

Re: James Trafford England call up
That’s not fair. I don’t incessantly berate our young goalkeeper. I have pointed out where I believe he is weak or deficient in ability.
I don’t have a problem with the young lad, other than I believe he is not up to the standard required for the level he is playing at.
I have berated Vincent Kompany for keep selecting him and other players and I won’t apologise for that.
If you read my posts there is plenty of constructive criticism in them. However, certain people would consider them not constructive because they perceive them as being negative.
Each to their own I suppose. It is a message board after all.

What I said was that you shouldn't sneer at fellow Burnley fans because they support a player who you don't. Nothing to do with Trafford's ability, everything to do with your contempt for Burnley fans who don't agree with you.Jamesy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 1:29 pmYou are way off the mark here. Of your 'constructive' posts on the subject of Traffords call up alone:Jamesy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 2:19 pmThat’s not fair. I don’t incessantly berate our young goalkeeper. I have pointed out where I believe he is weak or deficient in ability.

Southgate will probably include Henderson and Phillips in his Euro squad so he may as well chuck Trafford in as well, and leave three better players at home.
plenty of constructive criticism thereI don’t think he would have been the England U21 keeper if he hadn’t been on Man City’s books.

Do me a favour please and give it a rest now. It’s tiresome.

Re: James Trafford England call up
You asked me to read your posts, I did. Don't be clutching your pearls now that the 'plenty of constructive criticism' you pointed me toward doesn't exist.
The only clear agenda here is yours against Trafford, regardless of how many different posters you're going to throw the accusation or victim card at, which is indeed your tiresome tactic.
Anyway, I've made the point clearly, so no need to engage with you any further.

Happy for Trafford -
I have said before I thought Muric should have been on that team sheet against city that Friday night and should had the opportunity to prove himself.
That said I feel it has become ... 'If in doubt blame Trafford' at times when we have lost.
Very tough season for him bearing the weight of a lot of blame.
This will be good for him - and for us

Congratulations to James on his call up to the Senior squad. He is a Burnley player so it should be celebrated.

Re: James Trafford England call up
It will be a good experience for JT but Southgate has form for playing completely out of form players like Maguire and Henderson so nothing to see here.
It might actually back fire on BFC if they have to pay an extra £4m in add ons if he somehow gets on the pitch.
It might help us break even if we sell this summer but I can’t see him getting on the pitch. No concerns from me.

Is it me missing it or has the club failed to recognise the young keeper's elevation to the England squad, on their website?
If so, that takes the biscuit!

They definitely put something on Instagram and Twitter. Although whether or not they proof-read it is anyone's guess.

Re: James Trafford England call up
I know but they did the international report a few days ago so a short update like this is unlikely to get a new news article on the website. This is the kind of stuff clubs use social media for which they did pretty instantly so I dont think any biscuits were taken from the way the club reacted.
Re: James Trafford England call up
Not many people check the website for news stories. They were straight all over socials with it.
