The post you have quoted doesn't mention anything about data. You are talking double figures for all 3 unlimited.

Getting bored of this. Yes, it includes 5 GB per month, which would be well ample for your banking and ticketing needs.
Anyhow, on reflection, I now think you should stick to your rubber finger and continue to ignore stuff that makes life easier.
Re: Google Contactless Pay
Lebara have a non-contract deal for unlimited calls and messages with 5gb of data for £1.98pm for the first 3 months, then £4.95pm thereafter, working out around £4.20pm for a 12 month period.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 6:45 pmThe post you have quoted doesn't mention anything about data. They do cheaper deals as well
Re: Google Contactless Pay
The second sentence isn't really necessary, is it? Obviously you're perfectly entitled to sneer because you like modern gadgets and I don't, but just because you're allowed to do it, doesn't mean you should.Clovius Boofus wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 7:10 pmGetting bored of this. Anyway, another question on the same subject (if asking these questions doesn't upset you any more.) What happens when someone dies? They don't have a paper trail, their phone is unbreakable, and I dare say no-one knows where their money was kept. Genuine question.

I didn't realise internet banks still sent out paper statements. I know credit card companies don't if you let them get away with it.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 11:30 pmThe money is in your bank account and your bank statements would be the paper trail.

That's what I thought people did. But if the executors or next of kin just have to watch the letterbox for a month to get the next paper statement, then it's an awful lot easier than unlocking a phone.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 11:35 pmYes they do but most people would use a digital bank statement via their online banking account

I know they do. Smarty are cheap as well, but you will not get unlimited everything for under £10 a month that's the initial point I was making.

Re: Google Contactless Pay
Whats the phone got to do with it? Nothing is stored on the phone and the next of kin dont have to wait for a bank statement be it on paper or online. The bank itself will be who provides the executors or next of kin any information they need.
You do realise that when somebody dies professional executors can obtain financial information of what banks the deceased uses and they would just go direct to the bank with the power of attorney.
Please if you are managing the estate of someone close who has deceased don't sit around waiting for a bank statement to come through the letterbox as you will be wasting yours and any other involved parties time.

Calls and texts are free now - £4 per month for a sim sounds about right to me. I don't pay much more for mine and I don't have the minimum data.

You don't tend to get much 'shakes fist at plane' material anymore so this thread is a real boon.

Actually, the reason I asked what happens when someone dies when they don't have a paper trail, their phone is unbreakable, and no-one knows where their money was kept, was because I do not realise what happens. Are you saying that a professional executor would be able to find a list of all my investments and assets if I died suddenly? If so, that answers the question. Where is this list?Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 8:50 amWhats the phone got to do with it? Let's put a simple question, and if you could answer it without being scornful about my ignorance. You can be polite to stupid people as well, if you want to be. If I die, and my brother has to sort out my affairs, and all my transactions are on my mobile phone - how does he find out where my money is?

He can always get one of your fingerprints from your phone, copy in onto a piece of cellophane and make a rubber finger.

Your transactions wouldn't be on your mobile phone. Your mobile phone is the medium by which those transactions may have been made. I'm not being rude but I think you've got a complete lack of understanding of how the technology is being used, which is fine of course - but you don't really seem willing to learn.
If you die, I imagine that somebody would have the power to undertake a financial search (digitally!!!!) which would link your name with all of your legitimate financial affairs. I expect this is an easier way for your brother to find your money than if you've hidden physical cash under the floorboards, for example.

I would say Ive been very polite we my last few responses to what are very basic questions. I've took your questions on face value and answered them in a very straight manor and have not been scornful at all.dsr wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 2:35 pmActually, the reason I asked what happens when someone dies when they don't have a paper trail, their phone is unbreakable, and no-one knows where their money was kept, was because I do not realise what happens. Considering we have been talking about Google/Apple Pay and then on to Online Banking why if your question was relating to investment and assets why didn't you specifically mention them. You challenge the way I am treating you but with every response I give you change the track o the subject and make it about something different
If you had a portfolio of investments and assets this would still not be tracked by your phone. You would need an online account which could be accessed via an app on your phone just as it could be access on a computer/laptop/table/iPad etc.
If your investments and assets were with FCA approved companies then they would still hold an account on their systems just like a bank would and yes this would be traceable without needing access to your phone.
For my IPTV service I need to pay by Crypto and I manage this on Coinbase which stores a view of all my transactions and my list of crypto assets. I can access Coinbase via an App on my phone, my laptop, my tablet etc and I can also call them as they hold an account for me (like a bank) which is the master of all the data I view in their app or on my online account on the web. Even with Crypto if I died an executor could find out I had a Coinbase account and Coinbase would be duty bound to provide all the details and give access to the assets or the funds.
To your last point and probably the bit that you don't understand (because you don't use this technology) your transactions are never stored on your phone. You can view them on your phone via an App. That App is linked to an official account of the company you are using and if you have an App it means you have an online account which means there is a footprint that a professional executor could trace and get access to all your brothers money, assets, transactions etc
This isn't being condescending but just to reiterate nothing is actually stored on your phone, your phone can just support an app that links to your online account which links to your physical account with the company who holds your money, assets and transactions

For the record, I know that the transactions are not stored on your phone, I know that the institution in question will give you all the details when asked, what I don't know is how the executor knows who to contact if there isn't a paper trail.

I'm pretty sure a credit agency will hold records of all of your legitimate financial affaris.dsr wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 3:27 pmHow could they find out you have a Coinbase account?

Re: Google Contactless Pay
It's common these days for people to keep a little black book containing their investments, bank accounts, useful pieces of information etc for access by their estate.
I assume writing things down on paper meets your criteria for being secure?

Don't take this the wrong way as its not meant to be facetious but if you google how to track deceased persons investments/bank accounts/asstes etc there are lots of different tools for normal people to use never mind trained professionals. For professionals it will be a doddle.dsr wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 3:27 pmHow could they find out you have a Coinbase account?

Bloody hell, I only started this thread to ask a quick question but now dsr has died and his brother is chopping off his finger
