Sadly indicative of this messageboard that a sensible question is met by one user acting like an arse and loads more falling over themselves to argue with him.
It was me that was asking the sensible question.

Disagree. Can we not share opinions now? It would be a dull board if not

Football matches & babies simply don't go together.

I just don't think it's the right environment I couldn't think of a worse place to take them if I tried. Maybe the pub or leaving them with a known paedophile on a sex offenders register for babysitting duties.

My Daughter was told a couple of years ago when she wanted to take her Son.
That Children under 2 were not allowed in the ground.
Over 2 you could buy a child's ticket for them.

He has watched Burnley play, but not at the Turf.

Some people seem keen on getting it in early with regards to traumatising their children.

Tried for over a week to get a response to a query. Finally get a bland response copying ground regulations in with a false promise saying any questions please ask. Needless to say no response to any question I have asked for over 2 weeks. I will keep going.

I don't think they'll allow babies onto the Turf because they could be used as missiles. The stewards will ask you to unscrew their heads before entering the stadium or something.

Yes, it’s a hard call, which must explain why it only maybe might be worse to leave a baby with a known paedophile than take them to a football match

Why?

I don't pay ever increasing prices to watch a football match in order to listen to a baby crying.
Unbelievably selfish attitude. Society could do without people like you.

Well offer your opinion then. Do you think it's wise to take babies onto football matches. I can't think of 1 single benefit the baby will get out of it not at that age.

I'm not sure about babies but supporters have been taking their ankle biters to matches for as long as I can remember, it's hardly something new.
I started taking my screaming lad on when he was 3 years old.
30 years on and he's still screaming.

Yeah, don't bring a baby to a football match, no one is benefitting. If you do, please bring some ear protectors for little one. It's way too loud.

Not at all and per email sign off it's a team of them not just one.

I was thinking of complaining but you have to do that through the SLO!

My real problem is that when they did respond they showed no empathy or understanding of my position just a cut and paste from the website then ignore me.

It’s up to the parents, assuming there are no rules regarding minimum age.

Would I take a baby to a match myself? No.

I don’t think it’s a suitable environment - the noise, the volume of people, the potential for issue before, during or after.

We’ve read a few times on here, only this season, about issues in the home stands. I simply wouldn’t want to risk it.

Four, perhaps five or so is about the right age to start going, I think, but even then, attention span, noise and potential for trouble / issues can be a problem.

You can control what you do, you can’t necessarily control the idiots that might be around you.

I have an 11 month old at home, can’t wait until he’s old enough to come on the turf with me. But right now, I think it would be bonkers for me, him and everyone else.
No way a baby should be allowed.

I was sat next to a young couple with a baby in a papoose a couple of games ago. The baby only looked about 3 weeks old, I asked if it was their first game, and they said it was their second.
I don't know any official policy, but if this baby was allowed in then any baby will.
Good luck to them.

Ive seen lots of little babies on the Turf and away over the years. Parents can usually be trusted to look after their children's health and safety.

Waited until my son was 3 years old but that was mainly due to covid and wanting to start on games in warmer weather - friendlies/early season or late.

Also taken him back-packing across the world, music festivals and a numbe of other places 'babies shouldnt go' from a young age.

Took my son at 3 ISH to a pre-season game, thinking a quiet introduction.

Ended up sleeping most of the 1st half. And was the notorious German game called off at half time, so he saw pretty much nothing.

1. It gets used to loud noises before it's old enough to object. (Obviously if it cries like a baby it will be removed.)

2. Like I said before, it means that going to the match will become a habit before it reaches the 4-5-6 age group where doing anything different might be anathema to the child.

3. It gets to spend quality time with Mum or Dad doing things that Mum or Dad like.

Let's try and assume two things. One - children don't come to a set pattern; they are all different. What is right for one may not be right for another. Two - parents are the best judges of what is right for their child.

If a babe in arms is not upset by a football crowd, should the baby and its parents be prohibited from entry just because people who don't know them have deemed that it ought to be upset?

I get wanting to take a baby on
Clearly the mother is an avid fan
It will be great to tell the child that it went on the Turf as a babe in arms
It isn’t acceptable for the SLO to ignore messages .

Both of mine have had season tickets since they were 3, (now 16 and 13), I wouldn't even consider taking them on any younger unless you're not that bothered about watching the game.

He's had a reply to his email in case anybody else ever dares suggest taking a baby on. He needs to buy a ticket in the same block even though she'll be sat on his knee. I've suggested that he feeds her and let's her sleep or entertained if awake whilst on the game then she won't annoy everyone else around us. He's suggested trying this next time they take her to a restaurant in an afternoon...

The easiest way I found was to upgrade to hospitality. As it’s a one-off, I’d probably get some sort of baby ear defenders due to all the moaning from the whoppers on here that hate kids.

If people want to take babies on it should be at their own risk, maybe a seperate area possibly utilising some of the disabled area,I never took mine on until they started infants, ditto the grandchildren I'd be worried about anti social behaviour in the area or an accidental spillage of a hot drink for example. If someone sat next to me with a baby I wouldn't be bothered but I'd be cautious about jumping up etc if there's a goal or an incident and catching the baby or parent.

I've also never injected myself with smack, however i also feel like i know that would be sub-optimal ;)

To get back on track, Burnley football club do not have a lower age limit according to their safeguarding policy.

Have a look at this document and maybe email the head of safeguarding?

Thank you for that Foshiznik, it seems that despite what the 'child catchers' of the Turf think it is a personal choice and as ever a lot of Safeguarding is genuine common sense and this has been taken into account when deciding that she is ready to be taken on a game.

I know the h of s personally so I'll speak to him.
The decision on taking their daughter will probably be made 100% at around 30/60mins before kick off by both my granddaughters parents with the weather playing a major part. Most of the points in the pdf have already been taken into account and my son is fully aware that he may be going home 5 minutes into the game, but that's the same for anywhere that they choose to take their daughter.

At risk of stating the obvious, spillage of a hot drink is dangerous for children, adults, and old people as well. Anti-social behaviour is also bad. Jumping up and catching an older child, or a parent who hasn't got a baby with them at the time, or a pensioner, is also a bad idea - why wouldn't you be careful not to "catch" them?

At risk of stating the obvious, spillage of a hot drink is dangerous for children, adults, and old people as well. Anti-social behaviour is also bad. Jumping up and catching an older child, or a parent who hasn't got a baby with them at the time, or a pensioner, is also a bad idea - why wouldn't you be careful not to "catch" them?
Really? You've more chance of catching a babe in arms then you have an adult or child unless they are caressing a bertie bee mascot. I know how to behave around babies, sadly many don't, also re hot liquid a babies skin is more sensitive.

I'd say taking a baby on the Turf is probably a bad idea.

And a little bit selfish.

Genuinely curious, are there baby changing facilities on the turf? You'd imagine this might have been addressed alongside the corner stands being built if need be, but I can't recall ever seeing any such facility. Certainly not inside the run of the mill punter areas of the stands

The bookies counters could be repurposed.

I have an 11 month old at home, can’t wait until he’s old enough to come on the turf with me. But right now, I think it would be bonkers for me, him and everyone else.
No way a baby should be allowed.
Have to agree. My lad has just turned 2 and there’s no way I’m bringing him yet.

Never noticed them, easier but not a necessity - you can change them on any flat surface, eg the floor! More frustrating when they only have them in the female toilets

Well offer your opinion then. Do you think it's wise to take babies onto football matches. I can't think of 1 single benefit the baby will get out of it not at that age.
To be fair I don't think you need to give an opinion to call out your comments as crass and idiotic.

Comparing the severity of somthing with leaving your child with a paedophile is a pretty sick and stupid thing to say.
