Re: Larry Lloyd
Sad news, I still remember him as the likeable but tough centre half of the Forest pairing… there again McVitie would seem like a good guy playing alongside Kenny Burns.
Managed Notts County to a promotion too didn’t he?

Re: Larry Lloyd
Big lad was Larry and got much bigger when he finished playing. Tough and uncompromising on the field and a shrewd businessman.
RIP Big fella.

Re: Larry Lloyd
I remember being stood towards the Beehole End of the Longside terracing and fairly near the front so had a close up view of the action. I think Barry was playing for Coventry and Burnley's front men had been giving him a tough time.
I think it was Paul Fletcher who got on the end of a cross and beat Larry to the ball to head in. As Fletcher ran to the Longside with a beaming smile I saw him glance back at Larry who was on his knees in the goal mouth shaking his head and he gave Fletch a wry smile as he climbed to his feet.
Great player and a character in times when football was well just football.
RIP Larry Lloyd

Re: Larry Lloyd
I remember Lloyd persistently climbing over Paul Fletcher every time they contested headers in a match at TM. Eventually Fletcher “made a back for him” and Lloyd fell from a great height - painful and very angry. It even made my eyes water!
Re: Larry Lloyd
Larry Lloyd embodied just how good a manager Brian Clough was (and, please, let's not have the usual suspects talk about Clough's off-the-field problems). Lloyd was deemed surplus to requirements at Anfield, went to Coventry and seemed to have had his better days behind him. Clough turned him into an EC winner.
Re: Larry Lloyd
Too young to remember him for Liverpool but he was a great player for Forest.
Larry Lloyd RIP.

Re: Larry Lloyd
Very tough and uncompromising centre back, typical of the defenders in that period. He was also a very good player which is why he was in two very good teams. RIP

Ah, yes; I bet that is what I’m mis-remembering.

Re: Larry Lloyd
The only man to get 2 England caps in one day according to Mr Clough
Re: Larry Lloyd
Some of his pics remind me of Ray Davies of the Kinks
RIP big fella. Cloughie couldnt half pic up some players who had been journey men until he got hold of them
I think Clarke their LB from Newcastle who went on to manage them springs to mind
