Perhaps the soon to be out of contract players are going to see less game time between now and the end of the season (Taylor is one of those).

I don't agree with dropping him, but it could be another possible reason why.
But we still have something to play for, it's not a dead rubber, he must play his strongest team when he can just in case we can put a small run together.

Afternoon all from a bright and windy Galway .

After last night anything is possible today i think we can win this . Now last night Galway United won in Derry for the first time in i don't know how long . The lads who travelled were so well treated by the locals and evryone had a ball .
One for Derry , The George pub was something else for the pics i saw last night .

Apparently Taylor has a toe issue according to some on social media, so that's why he isn't starting. Not sure of the truth for that, but lets not call for VK's head before kick off.

Taylor is tripe, goal after goal down his side all season long, should have been behind Pieters in Dyches last season too, completely finished at this level.
Another well balanced assessment from you.

And the answer to that is Vitinho?
He’s the only other option we have, I like Vitinho and think he’s grown into a decent little player as the season has gone.

For all we know Taylor might not be fully fit. If it's purely tactical it's strange.

Perhaps he knows we aren't good enough to stay up regardless.

He may already have one eye on next season.

I stress again though, I think Taylor should be starting.

Further forward, yes. But as a full-back, he’s absolutely gash.

Well i was worried Trafford would be straight back in after the international break so that's something. Foster good. The other changes baffling when, whisper it quietly, we looked a bit less awful in the last 2 games.

The sun's shining though, I'm off for a nice walk whilst we have it....

Brighton away he got out jumped for their equaliser by a midget

West Ham home both late goals came from his side

Villa away poor

The Brentford home game, guess which side the goal came from?

So the player on that side of the pitch where the goal originates from is always to blame?

I don't think it's quite that simple.

Not always but yes if it’s a common theme, the left back has to take responsibility in stopping the crosses.

You could pick weaknesses and errors in most of our players this season. Taylor has been one of our better players. You've been slagging others off this season for criticising but you call Taylor 'tripe'. Hypocrite.

If people actually watched how many goals Taylor is responsible for they’d have a different opinion, he can do no wrong though because he’s been here for a while and was once a very good player for us.
Let’s get back to the real world

Does Vitinho do that then?

Taylor is far from perfect, but he's still the best LB at the club.

Question 1: do you think Vitinho is a better left back?
Question 2: do you think Odobert providing zero defensive cover helps or hinders the duties of whoever is at left back?

You're not arguing from a positive position about this team selection, you're being contrarian to snipe at other posters, all too common from you now.

I'm not Taylor's biggest fan - at this level, under this manager - but any argument that he's not currently the best left back at the club is close to bonkers. Shuddering at the thought of Vitinho playing there today.

It doesn't always work like that. He may have recovered during the week, too late to work on specifics.

Taylor has been superb this season at times and very much deserved of his place.

However he has been caught out so many times and he has looked knackered at times and his lack of pace has really been his downfall.

To say dropping Taylor for Vitinho is a bizarre tactical decision would be a huge understatement, Taylor is miles away a better defender than Vit and has been one of our best players , and against a side like Chelsea .Maybe CT has a knock ? Which would explain it easily enough though

He has been caught out because he has had little or no support from the wide left midfielders

Yes, of course it can be. They work all week on specific tactics. Admittedly we can't always see the evidence of it. :D

Not sure iv ever slagged off other posters for criticising players who have been here for a while, we’ve had more than enough time to cast judgement on the likes of Taylor, Brownhill, Gudmundsson, Rodriguez, Roberts.

https://youtu.be/7Hosa5xQfrA?si=HPqn2I6qK1KOVgs2&t=42 - case in point. Can't get back quickly enough - miles off the pace when countered.

Love Taylor as a player but it has been noticeable this season at times that his pace is what lets him down at times .
