Spending April in Colne

Post by claptrappers_union » Thu Apr 04, 2024 8:52 am

You can take in loads of of games in just a few weeks.

Colne FC should be marketing this as an April ticket to get new fans through the gates.

Since the match yesterday was postponed for a waterlogged pitch, not too good.

The Charnock Richard match has now been slotted in on Wednesday 18th. Presumably Friday 20th has been saved for a potential cup final?

I wonder if there'll be any squad rotation? Anyone fancy a game?

With the weather forecast don't see how they're gonna get any home games played personally. Crazy insisting that the league has to be done by 20th April.

The problem with counties top division is that it has 24 clubs, with FAC, Vase , League Cup and County Cups there’s too many games to fit in plus this has been a very wet winter and spring. Not sure why the season cannot be extended, not like players are going to be involved in the Euros. In an ideal football world more money should filter down the pyramid to invest in better pitches / artificial pitches.

Club wanted to play but ref called it off. Tbf don't see any way pitch could be playable after this weeks rainfall.

Colne's was bad to start with though! Oh well means they'll be fresh for big semi final on Wednesday ;)

Could we borrow it for half a dozen games?

One of them has been rearranged to be played at Ilkley, after sponsorship was found. There is an artificial pitch that meets the standard.

Wow here’s Colnes new fixture list

Play the day before the Semi final with Padiham

Then 4 games in 4 days the week after.

Awful from the FA this.

Will they be playing the 2nd 11 and resting the big boys for the semi final ?

Don’t think they have enough players for that

Sure Weller said in an interview on NW Tonight last week they had 17 players and had just signed another before the deadline

Colne beat Cheadle Town 7-1 tonight, so it must have been a reasonably strong side.

I think Colne have got a very good u23s. They seem to win quite easy a lot on their twitter account.

They have a couple of Padiham lads in there, that's why I keep an eye out.
One of them scored twice last night for the first team, Cuan Bradley.

Colne beat Padiham 3-2. 10 goals scored in 2 days. Not something you see often.

They have extended the season, so the rest of the fixtures are a doddle. Two more this week (Friday, Saturday) then Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday next week, and same again the week after. Plus, of course, a Cup Final!!!

Padiham deserved to win that mate but that’s football, good luck in the final.

Won again, that makes 4 wins (and one defeat) in 8 days. Home game on Thursday, fingers crossed!

Except it's not at home now! Being played at Pilkington to ensure game goes ahead.
Good luck to them anyway.

Well Colne's pitch is finally fit to host a game of footy tonight! 3 games this week all at home so lucky the weather has improved.
