Wasn’t long ago was was trying to get him on Loan from City.
Some player, very very good.
Starts for England instead of Saka for me.

You'd be questioning Pep's decision to let him walk away from City

Re: Cole Palmer
He has certainly took his game up a few levels since leaving City … did they receive 45 million for him ? Looked like a fortune at the time but certainly going to be a 100m playerVegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 4:41 amYou'd be questioning Pep's decision to let him walk away from City
Re: Cole Palmer
Good player, but he’s behind Saka in the pecking order, and rightly so.

I know I’m going to sound like a loon, but I think he’s overrated.

Re: Cole Palmer
Definitely would take him in the squad but at the moment in the front 4 positions he isn't getting ahead of Saka, Foden, Kane or Bellingham.

Fine player but there’s an arrogance about him I can’t take to.
After saying that Beckenbauer, Steve Ovett, Viv Richards all had it and it didn’t harm their careers.

Re: Cole Palmer
Very good player. The best on the pitch against us at weekend. He doesn’t make England’s first eleven for me but he’s got to be worth a place in the squad - his penalty record makes that a no-brainer.
Re: Cole Palmer
It amazes me that Mainoo seems to be getting touted as a potential starter for England but Palmer isn't. For me, certainly in matches where England will dominate the ball, we should be looking to play a 4-1-4-1 formation rather than a 4-2-3-1. Let Rice sit deep and start all the match winners we have. There aren't many teams that will cope with Palmer, Foden, Bellingham, Saka and Kane coming at them!!

Re: Cole Palmer
He's very good but let's not get carried away by saying better than Saka. The amount of dodgy penalties Chelsea have had this season has overinflated his goal tally. Add to that just how poor the rest of the Chelsea team is makes him stand out more.

Cannot believe you didn't list Leighton James among those other arrogant sporting greats!Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 9:32 amFine player but there’s an arrogance about him I can’t take to.

I think he'd be an ideal candidate for Southgate to bring into the England squad and then suck all creative ability and attacking prowess from..............................

Re: Cole Palmer
Its not beyond intelligence to fit him into the squad somehow. This guy is unique and can hurt the best teams.I would include him in place of the geriatric Henderson, or even Grealish (who for me has not started enough times this season), even if this means unbalancing the ratio of midfielders to forwards
Re: Cole Palmer
Could be repeating the 00s all over again when we tried to shoehorn Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard and Scholes into the same midfield.

Re: Cole Palmer
Nothing wrong with knowing how good you are. I said at the weekend that he's a class act. Just reinforced that. Wonderfully talented for a still young man.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 9:32 amFine player but there’s an arrogance about him I can’t take to.

Re: Cole Palmer
Definitely a candidate for being brought on for a shootout in the Euros
Re: Cole Palmer
Great player but when he put that panenka in against us I was hoping someone put him in the stands at the earliest opportunity!

Re: Cole Palmer
Palmer is far from arrogant in my eyes but brimming with confidence and has the 'x factor' in his game to go much further. He should certainly be in the England Squad for the Euro's.
Re: Cole Palmer
He's a better 'footballer' than Saka, whether that gets him in the England team is another matter though.
Re: Cole Palmer
Has loads of ability does Palmer, he's come on in leaps and bounds and has matured into a very intelligent player which is inversely proportional to how he comes across off the pitch with that Wythenshawe drawl making him appear as thick as a submarine door.
A real asset on the pitch without doubt and the skill last night to leave Dalot in his wake was top drawer.

21 goals and 12 assists in an inconsistent team is some going.

Re: Cole Palmer
We are producing some brilliant young players up front, Foden, Saka, Palmer, Bellingham etc, just a shame we cant get some young centre backs of the same quality because thats what will cost in the summer

Having a super season.
Given our exploits in shootouts over the last 30 years him and Toney have to be a shoe in for that outcome 100%.
