Re: Toffees are in a very sticky situation
Basically they have been deducted 6 points already, a potential for a further points deduction will be announced reportedly by Monday 8th April and due to their accounts being revealed they could face another hearing for another possible points deduction, I think their aim is to get back to the 10 point deduction they started with.
Re: Toffees are in a very sticky situation
To be honest regardless of whether they receive a further deduction or not I really don’t think it will help us. Had we beaten Wolves then maybe. Plus it’s a very tough ask expecting us to beat them on Saturday. Dyche will have his team well organised that’s for sure.

Depends if we have learnt anything from the 2 games this season. They are giants and will be a massive threat at set pieces. We are poor at learning.beddie wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 8:02 amTo be honest regardless of whether they receive a further deduction or not I really don’t think it will help us. Re: Toffees are in a very sticky situation
During his last few seasons at Burnley we ended up as being one of the three lowest scoring teams in the PL. We avoided the drop in one of those seasons but not the next. Everton now find themselves in the same situation, rarely do they manage to score more than once in a game. It is imperative for me that, if we are to end up getting anything from tomorrow’s game, that we manage to score the opening goal. If we fall behind it is going to be extremely difficult.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 9:43 amThey havent won a League game in 13 . Their last win was against us.

Do you mean they have a say in the punishment( if any) meted out?

Re: Toffees are in a very sticky situation
Wherever or not they get another points deduction the game
against Everton on Saturday is still as close to a must win (for both teams)
as you are likely to get. And depending on how many points Everton get
deducted then it may be a must not lose.
No, sorry that's senseless. It's a must win whatever happens.

Got to remember that they have built a lovely new ground so should avoid any punishment.

Re: Toffees are in a very sticky situation
I imagine it will be another 6 point deduction, reduced to 3 points due to their cooperation, reduced to 1 point or possibly just a fine on appeal. None story.

Re: Toffees are in a very sticky situation
The PL will be desperate not to relegate a team on points deductions. Too much bad press damaging their image.

Re: Toffees are in a very sticky situation
why would they get a 3rd deduction? They've only been charged twice.
We don't even know what the breach is, that £89m is before deductables

Re: Toffees are in a very sticky situation
The losses in the latest accounts went against all the noises the club were making about tightening up their finances, they were almost double the previous years - things like all the signings they made and the wage bill being reduced by less than £3m. It weakens the argument about Double Jeopardy/Natural Justice.RickyBobby wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 2:38 pmI imagine it will be another 6 point deduction, reduced to 3 points due to their cooperation, reduced to 1 point or possibly just a fine on appeal. There is also the fact that this is the 1st occasion a panel has faced a club making a 2nd appearance for the same charges, due to their own continuing and increasing profligacy and essentially lying about the measures they were putting in place
I was originally expecting 1 or 2 points as a penalty - not sure at all how it will go now

Re: Toffees are in a very sticky situation
If I was a foreign football fan I'd sooner watch Everton play Liverpool etc in that brand new glossy stadium as opposed to Burnley Sheffield, Luton etc at home and that’s why to quote the Evermoanians it's corrupt, however they are so bitter they can't see the corruption working for them.

Everton have failed to win in 22 at Goodison when conceding. Let’s get on the scoreboard ourselves and apply some pressure.

Re: Toffees are in a very sticky situation
Is the current Everton charge more serious than the first that they have already received the points deduction for? If so surely the punishment must be more severe this time?

Re: Toffees are in a very sticky situation
No they're still in a sticky situation, as that side we played today was shite, and I mean properly shite.
They can thank their lucky stars that they were playing an inexperienced shite toothless up front clueless shite team.
I've never seen us play such a shite team before at this level. They should be relegated with us. They have been smelling up the place far too long. Shite shite shite.
