Fabrizio Romano says we're signing him on a free in the Summer. Agreed a 4 year deal.

Andy Sambo, no doubt.
Re: Shurandy Sambo
We’ve already got a good right back. I’m surprised the board would agree anything at this stage. I would have expected some players to be sold beforehand. I can only assume if it’s correct that an agreement now was to avoid him being snapped up before the season end.

Few million quid for Roberts and replace with a free signing. Makes sense to me.beddie wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 12:26 pmWe’ve already got a good right back. I think Robert’s wants out for sure but I’m not sure anyone will buy him unless we’re prepared to take a low amount for him.

We still look set to go down, so probably wise to act now if someone we want is available. Certainly don’t think we’d be shelling out £10m on a full back whilst in the Championship if his club insist on that kind of fee this summer.

Re: Shurandy Sambo
Assignon 8m option if we stay up, he won’t sign if we go down, roberts will be out the door whichever league we are in.
Sambo to fight it out with Vitinho in championship.
However based on vitinhos versatility and some of the performances he has put in this season I could see a bottom half prem club enquiring about him. Someone like Brentford. Thomas frank likes a player who can play multiple positions

Re: Shurandy Sambo
I don't know. He's still only 24 and a decent grafter. If a club could pick him up relatively cheap (given we only paid c£1m), I reckon he would make a decent squad player for most bottom half PL clubs.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 2:33 pmI’d be amazed! Personally I hope he stays, as we are a bit short on grafters

Interesting that in recent games Vitinho has come to the rescue on a couple of occasions( one entirely of his own making) with lung bursting runs to prevent possible goalbound shots. Other than that I am unaware of any 'performances' from him to suggest any manager, certainly in this league, would be after his services. Not a case of picking on him because the same could apply to probably all the players who have represented us during this awful season.

I wouldn’t be disappointed if we did sign him don’t get me wrong, I’m just not overly fussed if we didn’t. Take him or leave him for me. He needs to cut out the silly mistakes like the play acting at West Ham, but still young enough to do that.

I suspect if he had been a regular at the team well clear at the top of Eredivisie and who reached the last 16 of the Champions League, he probably wouldn’t fancy a likely season in the Championship next season.forzagranata wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 5:24 pmSambo hasn't been getting in the team much at PSV.

Re: Shurandy Sambo
Interesting signing- player with decent pedigree who appears to have been a regular in a fairly successful Sparta Rotterdam side last season even if he's struggled for game time this season in a highly successful PSV side. Don't think we can hold that against him and good luck to him.
I find the comments about Vitinho a bit surprising. He adapted well in the Championship last season, started half our games and clearly did fine. Its reasonable to assess his experience this season will make him a better player if he's at that level again next season - for mu money he's improved notably as this season has gone on and he had a fine game at right back on Tuesday. Hes quick, technically good, makes good runs, works hard, is robust and on Tuesday i thought he demonstrated that hes become a much better defender than I'd given credit for. As a result I'd expect him to be a real asset at right back in the Championship. Sure his final ball can improve but given his technical ability and growing maturity there's reason to believe he'll get there.

Agree totally with what you say about Vitinho there Claretspice. Great player last season in the Championship, think he's really struggled this season to get to grips with the Premier League and the much better players he's up against. In my opinion he's been one of our better players in recent weeks, improving all the time.....Good competition if this new lad signs.

I'd hope that we sell Roberts and have Assignon and Sambo as RBs next season.
Vitinho will be a regular in the 1st team squad next season, at RM.

Few teams play with a 'specialised' right-back nowadays, you have to be, at the very least, half decent in the attacking portion of the game to make it at the higher levels of football.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 9:24 pmNot doing at all badly, but I'd take Assignon and even Roberts to be ahead of him as specialised RBs

Re: Shurandy Sambo
Why has this resulted in people insulting Vitinho. He’s as good a £1M signing as I’ve seen. Maybe not the best defensively, but he’s a very tidy footballer with good technical ability and he gives his absolute all. Been a good player this year - and other premier league sides would absolutely be interested in his services, and at a lot more money than we paid.

I have also seen him called a right wing back also too which is probably more accurate.
