I’ve laid off recently, because it seems he is bulletproof when it comes to getting sacked by AP, but this bloke is a legend in his own mind.
He needs to GO now! Don’t wait, relegation is all but confirmed today.
His in game management is diabolical!
His tactics are a mystery, importantly they seem a mystery to the players too!

Wow, this is new.
As is the sensible reply that he'll be here until next Christmas and then be gone if we have made a poor start in the Championship.

I think a lot of us are going to feel a little silly looking back and realising the run of form that gave us a bit of hope contained just one win.

I think he needs to figure out if he want's to be a manager or a director of football - because in the modern game I really don 't think you can be both.

I agree. There must be more to it. Either the investors want him at the helm, or he’s deeper invested into the club than we know scoring business etc!evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 4:43 pmWow, this is new.

Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
I can see where you're coming from here.
Tactic #1. "Muric, just before half time could you smack the ball against Calvert- Lewin to give Everton a gift of a goal bang on half time."
Tactic #2. "O'Shea, just as we're getting back into the game could you try and get a red card as last man after completely making a balls up of a pass to you."
Sorted!

I was one of the few who was and still is a huge Trafford fan and didn’t want him dropped. I think he will be England’s next goalkeeper. That being said, Muric has been good and deserves to keep the shirt.
I have also been consistently one of the first to call for Kompany to go. I haven’t changed any tune.
Just for full transparency, I really don’t rate Roberts and have been wanting him to leave the club pre Wout argument.

Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
I"ve got to admit I am totally confused by Kompany's tactics today....Foster on the wing, Odobert playing in some unnameable position and then all the subs after O'Shea was sent off. VK overthinks too much, that's why we make so many silly nay stupid mistakes. Keep it ferkin simple V8ncent

Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
I do feel that he remains in post mainly on the strength of his great success last season and let's hope that he can repeat that in the Championship next season.
Beyond that, Pace and the other owners have invested much in Kompany's line of thinking....to the tune of £100m plus....it will be a hard call in sacking him and his backroom staff due to cost and they'll be hoping that longer term it will come good.
He's a long way from being a quality PL manager. His recruitment has been poor, his off field management has been poor whilst on the pitch tactics and decision making have been naive.

But we haven’t, we’ve been improved, but we haven’t played well.
I gave up because how many times can you same the same thing? The same people defend him blindly…
That is changing rapidly and the only thing that can save him is the end of the season and the hope all football fans somehow find inbetween May-Aug
Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
Strange line up, weird subs, no Benson, he's learning at our expense. If he gets us up next season, hopefully, his dreadful decisions this season will be analysed, and he will learn from it. Still enough in the bank for me. Just.

Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
We’re down due to his and Pace’s decisions in the transfer market. You couldn’t keep this squad up with Guardiola in charge, it’s unbalanced and full of glitter covered nuggets of shite that don’t work hard.
That said, Vinny is a 101 point title winning manager at Championship level. Why dispense and pray Pace somehow pulls another rabbit out of the hat with his next appointment? I think he was incredibly lucky with Kompany.

Not calling for him to go but the Vitinho for Fofana sub when chasing a game we need to win was very baffling. It was calling out for Benson.
Think we was unlucky with the red, McNeil was never going to reach it so it isn't denying a goalscoring opportunity and was on the halfway line. He couldn't wait to get the re dout

I'd give him 10-15 games next season to prove he isn't a one season wonder. He has been woefully out of his depth this season but just about deserves a chance to bring us back up.

Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
The fact is we played well until the goal. We actually defended with aggression and were the only side looking to play football. I wasn’t concerned about a lack of first half chances as long as it was 0-0 as the game would open up in the second half. Obviously that goes out of the window as soon as we gave a free goal away, which we tend to do more often than not.
How we reacted to that was poor though. There didn’t seem to be a game plan to create a chance. Just sideways passing which got more sloppy as the game progressed. Where was a goal ever going to come from in that second half? It’s like we’re waiting for the opposition to make a mistake, which most other Premier League teams avoid doing when leading games. Subs were a bit hit and hope and also too late to actually make a difference to the flow of the game.
Hopefully VK learns a lot from this season and we get another chance at the PL in 18 months.

Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
I've got to be honest I think he needs to go. The team selections alone this year have been a joke. Suddenly playing Muric and Cullen isn't going to save him, we've looked better for it so his decision to not play them has been baffling. Then this constant thing with Benson, it's exactly the same and I bet all fans are wondering if the same was for Muric and Cullen why not Benson.
We have no identity because he hasn't found the right side all year and this decision to put square pegs in round holes is baffling.
This is the worst we've been at this level. With the money we spent if we focused in the right areas we could have been competitive this season by adding to the side. Instead we created a complete new side featuring futures earnings rather than players in the right positions on the pitch. Both manager and chairman to blame but I don't think the relationship between them is healthy for the club. Time to go.

Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
I'm not saying Kompany should go however, I totally agree with a statement made by SD when he was with us. He said possession means nothing unless you have the players to finish the job. VK is very much a possession based manager and at this level, we don't have the players or the skill to pull it off. A good manager would adapt so I'm not sure if it's stubbornness or naivety or both! Either or, we are down.ì
Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
As I posted on the match thread 6 points and 15 goals behind a team we finished about 20 points better last season is not really acceptable. It looks like we will finish bottom which is embarrasing.

Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
I think it’s much more likely that he feels Benson won’t offer enough over the 90 minutes, and he may be right. But of course there are many other players who don’t offer enough who get on the pitch.
Either way I thought Benson should have come on today as we were in the last chance saloon and had nothing to lose by trying something different.
Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
I expect him to be in charge next season simply because we can’t afford the pay out for him and his bloated band of technical staff. Those expecting us to repeat 22/23 are in for a rude awakening, I think.

Always reading posts about him learning from this season which I never understand.
Nobody should be learning in 9 months chunks, he should be learning every week and making adjustments.
I'm on the fence about whether he should stay in the job but it's not ridiculous to question it. Heard a few pundits say they're surprised he hasn't been under more pressure.
Love his passion but everything else is up for debate to put it mildly.

Agreed. Also, he will have had a Summer transfer window and heaven knows what the squad will look like after another major overhaul and upheaval.

Re: I’m so sick of Kompany
I don’t think there’s much, if any hysteria to be fair. Our fans have been very patient this season considering we’ve won just 19 points from 32 games. Kompany is very lucky to still have credit in the bank from last season, and perhaps in part living off his record as a top footballer rather than a manager.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 5:19 pmThe level of hysteria is bordering 'nutjob' status for some.
For some perspective. At this stage in our last season at this level, winning our last 6 games would still see this side relegated.

Over is perhaps the wrong word, but after 15 games the damage may already be done and result in falling well behind. In addition, any new manager, and I know it’s not going to happen, would be left with another managers signings to motivate.
