Just simply not good enough. Very close, if not was, to being the worst performance of the season. The most clueless, spineless, amateurish set of cloggers we have had for many a season and totally deserve to go down and probably end up bottom. Nothing more to add.

Tough watch today. We looked to be doing alright first-half after an early spell where Everton looked lively without really threatening. Then we hit the suicide button (again) and from that moment the confidence of the last 4 games dissipated.

The subs were weird and again players driving out of games weren't pulled which is baffling. The sending off compounded things too. You have to winder that our poor disciplinary and mistakes records is a direct result of a manager ivercomplicatingvthings and asking too much from his playing staff.

Muric 4 - had nothing to do but gifted the goal which essentially cost us the game - sad really as he's been great recently
Assignon 5 - as likely to cost us a goal as orevent one
O shea 6 - I thought he was doing well but a costly error cemented the loss
Esteve 6 - defended pretty well
Taylor 6 also did pretty well I think
JbL - 5 - not much came off for him today
Cullen 6 did ok I thought
Berge 6 (mom) again our best player- we need to keep him in summer
Odobert 4 - a few flashes but totally anonymous 2nd half
Foster 5 - tried but lost out wide really
Fofana 5 - better than against Wolves

Brownhill 6 - did alright
The other subs had not e ough time really but nothing changed when they came on
Edit. Forgot Vithino - so he gets a 5 as he clearly struggled to make an impression!!!!

Everton are a big side - we won nothing in the air in their box and continually tried to feed it inside all the time but not shoot. When we did get to the line to pull back either uts too late and Everton have the bodies back or the delivery is awful.

We take far too long overpaying everything and it's costing us at both ends. That HAS to be down to management

Can't quite put my finger on it but most of those players look like they can't get out of Burnley quick enough and it's been that way since the beginning of the season.

Muric - 5
Assignon - 4
O’Shea - 4
Esteve - 6
Taylor - 6
Bruun Larsen - 5
Cullen - 5
Berge - 5
Odobert - 5
Fofana - 5
Foster - 5

Vitinho - 4

Muric - 6 (lost a mark for his calamity)
Assignon - 6
O’Shea - 7 Lost a mark for his sending off)
Esteve - 8
Taylor - 6
JBL - 5
Cullen - 5
Berge - 8 He is a man for all parts.
Odobert - 5
Fofana - 4
Foster - 6

Vitinho - 5
Jay Rod - 5
Amdouni - 5
Brownhill - 6

Apart from the calamity, we would have got 1 pt. Not good enough to score a goal. However, team play and some infmdivuduald performed.

Absolutely flat after that performance. To give a goal away like that with 20 seconds of the first half remaining was downright ridiculous and the second half performance wasn’t even inept.

Muric 3
Assignon 4
O’Shea 4
Estève 6
Taylor 6
Foster 6
Berge 7 ⭐️
Cullen 6
Bruun Larsen 5

Having found a system and personnel that work, we have drifted away from it in the past two games by trying to shoehorn Foster and Fofana in the team together. Foster improved when he went more central.

Muric 5 - ultimately cost us the game

Assignon 3 - this guy is dreadful. A complete liability. Shockingly weak and doesn’t look after the ball well enough.
Taylor 5 - did the basics fairly well but well off it in possession at this level.
Esteve 8 - comfortably our best player today. Defended well and showed great pace.
O’Shea 5 - absolute head fart/unforgivable lack of concentration for the red. Same players making the same mistakes all season and he’s in that group of players.

Cullen 6 - beat and tidy enough. Awful dead ball deliveries on the first half.
Berge 6 - not at his best today but helped to largely control the game with his midfield partner.
Odobert 4 - not involved enough.

Larsen 3 - not involved enough. Didn’t create anything at all. Completely ineffective.
Foster 4 - not a winger! Got into good positions without any results. Didn’t work hard enough off the ball when out wide - noticed this quite a bit over recent games.
Fofana 3 - some games he looks like he can’t even play football…today was one of those games.

Vitinho 4 - nothingness.
Brownhill 6 - got involved and was unlucky with his attempt.

Muric - 4 - horrendous error
Assignon - 4
O'Shea - 4 - can't control a basic pass
Esteve - 7
Taylor - 5
JBL - 5
Berge - 6
Cullen - 6
Odobert - 5
Foster - 5 - VK is the only man on the planet who thinks he can play wide
Fofana - 4 - offered nothing again

Vitinho - 5
Brownhill - 5
VK - 3 just pick the best 11 and play them in their best position. He is trying so hard to be clever and it's not working.

Utter crap

We could still playing now and we wouldn't have scored. However, we'd most likely have shot ourselves in the arm having already blown both feet off.

Third time we've played a rancid Everton side this season. Lost all 3 and not managed to score a single goal.

Dross.

Muric 6 Very good except the serous error -2
Assignon 5
O Shea 4 sending off -2
Esteve 7 mom
Taylor 5 struggling for fitness but our only lb which is crazy
Foster 5 still not convinced
Berge 7 our only consistently PL quality player
Cullen 4 off his game today ( tough week )
JBL 4 bits and pieces player
Odobert 4 in fairness Everton targeted him physically
Fofana 4 very poor again

Can’t be bothered marking subs

Kompany looks to have given up the fight ( if he ever started)
Plan B Mr Pace ?
Another key refereeing decision that went virtually unnoticed
Did Pickford have a save to make ?

How is Esteve getting such low marks?
The goal was nothing to do with him, he was sound defensively and came forward a few times well with the ball.

There should be a 24 hour delay on the ratings thread, it just gets silly after a defeat

As bad as we were today, just how we lost to an absolutely rancid Everton is staggering. The substitions, yet again, were baffling - ensured we lost all shape. Yet another suicidal goal to give away.

Muric - 4 - you just can't make that error

Assignon - 4
O'Shea - 6
Esteve - 6
Taylor - 6

Cullen - 6
Berge - 6*
Odabert - 5

JBL - 6 - thought he looked the most likely, an odd sub
Fofana - 4
Foster - 5 - why is he playing wide?

Brownhill - 6
Vitinho - 5

Assignon 4
Taylor 5
O Shea 5 harsh red for me though
Esteve 6
Cullen 6
Berge 7
Odobert 5 carrying him at times
Bruun Larsson 5
Foster 5
Fofana 4

Vitinho 5 very strange sub
Rodriguez 5

It's funny how quickly people forget. That 'rancid' Everton team is very similar to the team we loved for so long. The graft they were putting into make sure it stayed 1 0 was tremendous.
We hardly created a single clear cut chance all game and that's not like us. Everton did what Dyche teams do.

I was sat on the back row in the corner so didn’t have a great view of the game overall.

Muric 5 - I’m a big fan of Muric but that was so poor just before the half time whistle. Otherwise made some regulation saves and was ok with his feet

Assignon 4 - he’s not the answer at right back. Doesn’t seem to get the ball under control quick enough

O’Shea 4 - he was starting to win me over recently but back to his calamitous ways today

Esteve 7 - steady enough

Taylor 6 - does a job and covered round well a few times when we were in trouble. Would like to see that chance he had in the first half again that got blocked.

Foster 6 - play him up front

Berge 6 - quietish game for him. Not at the levels he’s hit in recent games

Cullen 6 - tidy overall against a big team

Bruun Larsen 3 - not involved

Odobert 4 - saw flashes again of what he could do down the middle but maybe got bullied a bit. I’d like to see him get the ball deeper of the centre halves more

Fofana 4 - waste of time today

Vitinho 5 - does what he does, ran hard. Was never going to make a difference coming off the bench

Brownhill 6 - not bad and decent effort that went wide

Muric - 6 (minus 1 for the gaffe)
Assignon - 6 Good first half especially but faded away
O’Shea - 6 (-1 for the Red card)
Esteve - 7* Another decent showing to follow on from Tuesday. My MOM
Taylor - 6
Bruun Larsen - 5
Cullen - 6
Berge - 7
Odobert - 5 - Still in the wrong position for me
Fofana - 4 -Running through fresh Tarmac again
Foster - 6 Needs to be central

Vitinho - 5
Brownhill - 6

Aside from the obvious error I thought we could have got something from this. O'Shea just reacted as players do, blind panic overcame him.

Our biggest downfall is overplaying the ball then giving it away without being under pressure. Probably every player did this today.

This isn't true. Our best chance of the game was Fofanas header, I think from a corner from what i remember

Won’t score it because I only saw about 60 of the minutes. From what I saw I would give 6s on the whole.

But the error was outrageously negligent, killed the whole feel of the team and the game, we were the better team until then and the crowd were getting restless.

The main problem though remains creativity. Unfathomable to me why we lack creativity yet have so many players playing out of position (by choice) in those three main forward positions behind the striker, while others like Tresor are frozen out despite this apparently being their specialism.

Probably a good example of why not communicating about some of this stuff and being arsey with journalists is counter productive because it gets the fans all confused and not on the same page. If it’s all done to keep the squad motivated and loyal I’m not sure it’s working.

Muric 7 - apart from the fluke goal he was steady and kept us in the game following errors from other players
Assignon 5 - I just dont like the way he always seems hard done by and appears to give up like a petulant child
O’Shea 6 - made a few errors that led to Everton attacks (which Muric saved) and never a red for me
Esteve 7 - good performance from him, he has the potential to be a class player
Taylor 6 - Standard steady Charlie, fluffed a few passes when we were attacking which lost possession, but steady
Berge 7 - seemed involved in a lot of our better moments
Cullen 7 - again, involved all over the pitch
Foster 5 - out of position for me, needs to be up top
Odobert 5 - seemed lost today, bar a few moments skinning Coleman which he should have done more
Bruun Larsen 5 - fairly anonymous today
Fofana 4 - I dont get why we would play him up top and not Foster, who is the better player.

Vitinho 6 - didn't get a chance to change things
Brownhill - 5 seems off the pace and poor judgement in his range of passing, often passed behind our man losing momentum

Re: Everton v Burnley - Player Ratings

I won’t mark because my vantage point was the worst I think I’ve ever had in a stadium, but I’m amazed how many 5,6 & 7s Muric has received. His error was critical. We’d been the better side in the first half and it completely changed the feel of the game. The team looked deflated and so were the fans.

I’ve also noted there’s not a single Muric thread on the front page of this messageboard. You couldn’t move for Trafford threads on here when he was playing.

Muric 3 Harsh I know, but up to that point we hadn’t done badly and that just killed us. Had it been Trafford he would have had his own thread. Just why. Boots it down the pitch ref blows for half time and it’s game on.

Assignon 4- Positioning poor either doesn’t listen or doesn’t understand instructions as O’Shea was constantly shouting at him

O’Shea 3 If Murics error killed us, Dara’s buried us. Distance to goal I would argue probably not a red, but it matters not.

Esteve 7 - good performance from him, especially when you see what was around him today.

Taylor 6 - EversteadyCharlie, puts himself about puts a shift in and probably had our best chance today.

Berge 6- decent first half involved in some of our better possession.

Cullen 6, decent performance but gave the ball away too many times today.

Foster 5 - tried hard, ran the channels but not a wide player

Odobert 5 - enjoyed his performance against Wolves,
this not so much, should have been at Coleman all afternoon, but wasn’t.

Bruun Larsen 4- The invisible man today,

Fofana 4 - playing like he has had an offer to go to Seville. Last two games been well off it.

Vitinho 6
Brownhill 5

Disappointing all round. We gifted them a goal, we went down to 10 men for the 7th time, against a side who really weren’t that good.

Not done this for some years so here it goes.

Muric 3 - a poor quality half of the game is ending with a tepid finish with the natives getting restless, it finishes with Dyche giving a totally different team talk and the natives up for creating an atmosphere which was previously heading for toxic, Kick the ball as far as you can and go and put your feet up, shocking decision which changed the confidence levels in the team.

Assigion 3 - au revoir
O Shea 3 - don’t think it was a red but gets 3 for the first touch
Steve 4 - not convinced
Taylor 3 - chugged up and down the left flank, had a cross and a shot

Cullen 4 - tried
Berge 5 * - he’s currently on the phone to his agent
Odobert 3 - didn’t realise he was playing until the 25th minute

Foster 5 - put in a shift, must be thinking I’ll be out off the summer
JBL 4 - whatever
Fofana 3 - still the dog after that balloon

Subs CBA.

Muric- 5 Bad mistake but an inevitable consequence of how we/he plays. Positives outweigh the negatives for me.
Assignon - 4 Worst player on the pitch by a country mile.
O'Shea - 5 Not that bad but poor error before he was sent.
Esteve- 6 Pick of the bunch at the back.
Taylor- 5 Alongside a few others made a lot of errors today.
Foster- 5 Not a right winger
Berge- 6 Okay
Cullen- 5 Another who dropped passes in key areas- got away with it a bit.
JBL- 5 I forgot he was playing
Odobert- 5 Poor today
Fofana- 5 Physial attributes cause problems but hasn't played well over the last 2.

I thought Especially if the second half we were lucky they didn't capitalise on a whole host of errors that we made. Nearly every single player from Muric to Fofana gave the ball away at least once in a dodgy area or played an awful pass. Possibly only Esteve and Berge weren't guilty. Assignon did it all game.

Whilst the Muric mistake is the crucial one if he deserves a 3 for making one mistake then some of the other lads should join him in my opinion. That's why I've generally gone for 5's- not good enough from most.

Seems harsh for Muric for 1 mistake getting scores of 3 …
I would have said he cost us the game if we had scored to make it 1.1 /. But we never scored so we can’t win if we don’t score

I wasn't there but this is only partially true for the reasons AG states. Listening on 5live the psychological impact of that goal on the game was clearly enormous. The idea that because we didn't score in the game as it panned out, we wouldn't have scored in the game that might otherwise have panned out, just doesn't hold. Its a catastrophic, enormous error. And completely unnecessary. The irony is that Muric has been lauded (rightly) for the speed of his distribution recently. Trafford got criticised for slowing things down. Yet here we are, it is Muric who on the stroke of half time dwells on the ball and gifts a goal. It's the worst error we've made all season, and that is something.

Do you want people to have a massive pile on Muric? He contributes so much more in a positive way than Trafford, that’s probably why there aren’t any threads on him.

We had one shot on target. You can’t pin everything on him today, even though that was a huge turning point.

With respect, I was there and he had a steady game apart from that huge clanger. You can’t judge his performance going off 5live!

I think Muric is great. I always did. I also think he’s a better option than Trafford right now.

I’m merely pointing out the double standards. I don’t actually want to see any kind of pile on.

I didn't try and judge his performance. I observed on the game changing significance of an inexplicable, wholly unforced error.

From tv
Muric 5 two off for a stupid, ridiculous mistake
Assignon 5 worst game for us
O'Shea 5 one off for mistake
Esteve 7 just beats Berger for my mom
Taylor 5 he's looking knackered
JBL 5 never in the game
Cullen 5 worst game since comeback
Berger 7 the one forward player who looked PL class
Odobert 4 what role was he supposed to be playing? He's a left winger Vincent play him there
Foster 5 another one playing out of position
Fofana 5 looked lost
Vitihno 4 I genuinely dont understand where he was playing
Brownhill 6 tried.
I thought VK got it wrong again today. Playing players out of position, we were poor against a very poor Everton outfit. For the last 15/20 minutes after the red card I hadn't got a clue who was playing where. Awful to watch.

Muric - 5 - Calamitous mistake for the goal. Solid otherwise but obviously cost us the match.
Assignon - 4 - miles off the required standard.
O’Shea - 4 - miles off the required standard. At least we don’t have to endure his garbageness for a few games.
Esteve - 6 - getting better each game. Best of a bad bunch.
Taylor - 4 - to be released at the end of the season.
JBL - 5 - I like him but he was invisible today.
Cullen - 5 - uncharacteristically wayward.
Berge - 5 - he could be an outstanding footballer. He’s not. That’s why he’s at Burnley.
Odobert - 5 - he’s a winger. Play him there.
Fofana - 3 - absolutely useless.
Foster - 4 - he’s a striker. Play him there. Or better still, play Rodriguez.

Kompany - 3 - completely, totally and utterly out of his depth. Should have been sacked in January. If he wasn’t called Vincent Kompany, he would have been. As a manager, he’s not fit to lace Dyche’s very expensive boots.

I think the most annoying aspect of Muric mistake is that he was very nearly caught out doing the same thing earlier in the game but didn’t learn and therefore made the massive error. In the second half Muric was never close to making the same error because he had learned from his mistake. Why did it take a goal for the adjustment?

Why did he and and manager not make that adjustment earlier. Calvin Lewis said they had been practicing that move all week in training, but obviously we yet again were unable to adjust to avoid being caught out and hence losing the game.

This isn't true. Our best chance of the game was Fofanas header, I think from a corner from what i remember
You're right. I'd forgotten that. Ut was our only effort on goal really. We did create sone fair openings but Ecerton packed the box. We overplay stuff all the time and we're often guilty of trying to walk it into the area through the middle

This felt like the strongest starting 11 VK was likely to put out (not my version mind!). I didn't realise just how bad Everton were at the moment so why did he persist in tinkering with the wingers and forwards AGAIN! Of course Muric gifted the game to them but it felt like if we had played players in position we would have posed a much bigger threat than we did. Vincent once again guilty of overthinking things. When we needed a goal second half he brings on Vitinho who for all his effort isn't a goal threat and rarely gets and assist. Substitutions once more baffling. I feel Ive been patient with VK but he has lost me now.

Muric 5 Unreal error after a warning but why weren't senior players and management on the side-lines screaming at him to clear in to their half?
Assignon 3 Not having this bloke and will be glad to get rid. I'm one of Vitinho's biggest critics but felt beforehand that he was unlucky not to keep his place
O’Shea 4 Deary me. Such a shame given the progress he has been making
Esteve 7 I was worried about this guy as well but he has grown in to his role and the EPL
Taylor 6 I love Charlie but his lack of dynamism going forward on Tuesday killed us and did us no favours yesterday
Berge 7 Our only Premier League standard player
Cullen 6 Tried his hardest as per but as Captain IMHO should have got hold of Muric before the catastrophic error and he was closest to him on the goal.
Foster 5 Played out of position and still not back to his early season self but tried hard
Odobert 5 Out of position and offered not a lot going forward though is improving defensively
Bruun Larsen 5 Would much prefer Benson
Fofana 4 What n earth has happened to him. Two dreadful games in a row and cannot start next game but wait ......

Vitinho 6
Brownhill 6
