Danny Drinkwater kills your argumentforzagranata wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 2:53 pmIts not about luck. Its about managing players.
People thought Dyche was 'lucky' with Joey Barton. But he was able to manage the player and get good value out of him - AND had built a dressing room with a strong team culture that ensured Barton couldn't step out of line.

We can compare Dyche and Kompany all day but yesterday showed why a lot of Burnley fans wanted the change when Dyche left. You can only play with the ball for a third of the time and rely on opposition errors and set pieces for so long.
I have no doubt Dyche will get less time at Everton than he got at Burnley by serving up that sort of performance against one of the youngest and inexperienced teams in the league. There is more than one way to play football but as a form of entertainment there was only one team in it for the first half yesterday.
As for comparing the first seasons in terms of points I think it is clear that this season has 3 incredible football teams in it and that certainly wasn’t the case when we were promoted the first time under Dyche. The quality of the premier league has increased so much over the last decade and we are trying to compete using possession based football with young players. It’s really comparing chalk and cheese with ten years ago tbh.

Drinkwater wasn’t a Dyche signing.

People seem to have quite selective memories of the Dyche era. Personally I prefer to recall the season we qualified for Europe when we took on the likes of Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea etc in their own maddens and came away with points. We also played a lot of good stuff in the closed doors era.
Furthermore Burnley were very unlucky to lose perhaps the three most creative players that Dyche signed namely Defour, Brady and Gudmundsson to injury and none of them regained the same level of performance on their subsequent returns.
