If Bhatia wins this and gets an invite he's getting lumped on.

Matsuyama as well for me - can't wait for it!!

Backed Matsuyama at 25s last week. Odds will have come down aftwr another good showing this weekend. Will have a look at a few long shots this week.
Wouldn't be at all surprised if Scheffler wins again but don't want to back him at such short odds.

I have no interest in betting however I am an avid golfer and love The Masters.

As is my annual ritual I'm going for Rory to finally get the 'Grand Slam' monkey off his back. Unlikely, but if he fires on all cylinders for once he's more than capable of winning.

As for others: Canadian golf is in safe hands with Corey Connors (born and raised a 20 minute drive north of me) Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor.

I always root for Brits in the field so I'm hoping Matt Fitzpatrick, Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrell Hatton and Justin Rose show well.

As for others: Adrian Meronk is a good story, I think it's pretty cool to see a guy from Poland making to the biggest stage in golf.

I tried to edit the above post but apparently the function is no longer available.

It'll be interesting to see how Tiger does. I doubt there's much wrong with his golf game as far as hitting quality shots is concerned but his ability to walk such a hilly track is in question, as always. Personally I think he'll make the cut but not compete for a win.

I think the winner's name has already been posted on this thread. The only other one/two I would add to the list is Niemann and Zalatoris.

Agree with Canada (except didn't Meronk go to LIV?) Rory's week. Let's get this done.

Yes he did go to LIV but qualified for Augusta after last years Masters through a high finish at a major, or something like that. There's quite a few LIV guys eligible, Hatton for same reason as Meronk.

Logic would say it can only be Scheffler.

His putting has improved since moving to a mallet. Something many said he should have done years ago.

Plus it is due to pee it down on Thursday so it will be a soft course. That will help him find the pins.

Finally, it is mid February to mid April, so it is just within the 2 month window that Scheffler is allowed to win in (he has only ever won strokeplay in Phoenix, Bay Hill, Sawgrass and Augusta, the latter being the only one he has not won twice). Incredible stat given his immaculate record of 37 top 5 and 50 top 10 finishes on the PGA Tour.

Scottie Scheffler all the way

Would love it to be Rory or Ricky

Schauffele another I’d expect to do well

No question Scheffler is No 1 in the world and this years' favourite, however Augusta National is a totally different animal. As the old adage goes 'Masters doesn't start until back nine on Sunday' has held true on a number of occasions in recent years. Molinari and Spieth can attest to that.

As always 'The Masters' rarely disappoints as far as drama is concerned.

Although the two most recent wins were less dramatic than usual. Scheffler I would say, is a certainty for a top 5. Whereas the other possibles aren't certain of anything.

Backed Harman at 90s a couple of months ago. His odds came in after a great Players. Augusta suited to lefties.

Struggling to look beyond Scheffler - but as said his odds are so short and not seen such a short price favourite for a major since Tiger was in his prime.

I backed Aberg for Masters 6 months ago - he’s going to be something special (he already is) but I’d say he’s got a bigger chance in the US Open or our Open.

Tommy Fleetwood has had a great year since he moved coach. He could go well as an each way bet at 40s but again his game is better suited to the other majors.

Hard to judge the likes of Rahm and Koepka now they are on the LIV tour - not interested in backing them as I don’t want them to win !!

Gonna have a longer look in next couple of days for a couple of outsiders. But Scheffler my main bet (backed him when he was at 9/1)

I'm not knowledgeable on golf but like to watch on TV/follow the big tournaments.
Looking forward to following this and have had some small bets (all my bets are small and just to add a bit of interest to following sport):

Matsuyama win bet @ 16/1
Spieth ew @ 20/1
Zalatoris ew @ 35/1

Looks like there may be the odd shower on Thursday but increasingly good weather Fri/Sat/Sunday. I hope at least one Brit can get into contention for a spell to add extra interest.

Underway now for 40-50 of the hopefulls.
A Kiwi, a Safa, a Korean the early leaders with England's Danny Willet (a previous winner) also up there.
A long, long ay to go though.

Rory already looking like bottling it. One wild hook, two missed short putts. Sticking with Scheffler.

Coming back in the second nine; 2 under now with 4 to play. Another birdie (or two) and he's right back up in contention.

Yes, I raised an eyebrow when my pick Ryan Fox ( 200/1 ) was 5 under after 7, but he dropped two shots on the back nine. Mind you, -3 is a score that much bigger names would happily take around Augusta. A long, long way to go, as you say ..

I agree about Rory on his day being unplayable and how I would love to see him win … the problem is he could get a hole in 1 then hit 3 double bogeys .: he is frustrating to watch

Some tough tough playing conditions with the wind today, due to longer around all weekend.

Homa was my pick before the tournament and certainly think he'll be there about by end of day 3.

Bible-man Sheffler has ice in his veins, if the Good Lord in on his side he could win by a canter.

I had Brian Harman as my wildcard but clustered at the back of the pack.

Keep an eye on Ludvig Aberg.

While most of the field struggled with the wind and the greens - he quietly shot 69.

Aberg could be the next superstar so has a chance to break through tomorrow. That kid has everything and a swing with few weaknesses.

Still expect Scheffler to win though, despite his cheating on the 3rd with a dodgy drop for a distant scoreboard when he was behind a tree that led to a birdie.

At this rate of attrition Lancashire lad Tommy Fleetwood could finish second. :D

Well I’ll get in early then !!
Aberg is worth backing in every major until he wins one - he’s that good.
Tommy Fleetwood has been playing great this last year since he changed coach. He loves the US Open so back him each way. I’d back him in the British open.

Scheff is just a machine but his odds are going to be Tigeresque for the foreseeable future - probably about 3/1 to 4/1 for every major. Anybody familiar with the golf betting legend Keith Elliott (look him up and buy his book !!) Scheff will also very soon have the “nappy factor”.

The PGA is the next major in June - it’s my least favourite in terms of finding winners. US Open is in June and then our Open in mid July as always. As always form, weather and course will all be key going into them. The Masters is obviously always on the same course. And in terms of statistics around the winners it is the easiest one to pick the winner. It’s a much smaller field and you can pretty much rule out 80% of them every year before a ball is hit (it’s not 100% guaranteed of course but very few big outsiders have won in its history).

Fantastic weekend of sport

Seemed a little bit too easy for the players this year.

This stood out as the best tournament for how tough it was, but I'm not sure it gripped me this year.

Maybe the players have played it so much, they can easily avoid the hazards?

This year -11 won and only 8 people came in under par compared to -12 winning last year and 25 players breaking par. Checked 5 years ago and -13 won it with 45 players under par

Even going back 20 years in 2004 -9 won it with 12 players breaking par so im not sure that your idea it was a lot tougher in previous years is correct.

Is Tommy Fleetwood his real name or is it like Johny Vegas or Captain America
I do love that there's a Lancashire golfer called Tommy Fleetwood. Something of the Eastbound and Down about it. There'd be gold in a fictionalised cartoon i reckon.
