The next 2 seasons
Been discussing with my lads (16 and 18) tonight the next 2 seasons... I said my dream would be for us to finish 3,4,5 or 6th get through the playoffs but lose at Wembley in the final for 2 seasons running. I know there will be financial implications via parachute payments and the fact we have a debt to pay back but we'll get 2 seasons of great football and a trip to Wembley (never been and never been able to get tickets). We'll be able to get to more games - something we haven't been able to this season.... more away games.... more games in general.... beat the barstewards..... No VAR..... No top 10 biase from the ref.
And then in the 3rd year we go back up for a season and take athe money.

Re: The next 2 seasons
I'd rather us go up at the first time of asking and not make such a pigs ear of it if we do*
*only if they fix VAR, if they don't then I don't ever want to step foot inside the league again

Re: The next 2 seasons
I just want us to go and win every single game. If we’re in the championship, I want us to bounce straight back, in the highest position we can possibly achieve, then stay up…and build again!

Re: The next 2 seasons
So, to paraphrase your post. Been discussing blah blah....and my dream is...blah blah...and I know there are financial implications but I'm going to pretend they don't exist because I'm still dreaming so I can and then I'm going to post onto a forum without waking up and then - Burnley take all the money.Sutton-Claret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 9:37 pmBeen discussing with my lads (16 and 18) tonight the next 2 seasons... I wish I had dreams like that - the sh*t thing is I get to the finance bit and then wake up in a cold sweat. It's not fair, I want cool dreams where finances are just meh and Burnley get to keep all the money.
Just imagine Burnley get to the keep the money and then we go back into a time machine and sign Messi when he was even better than he is now. The only problem is, in my crappy dreams VK would turn up and play him at centre half.
Re: The next 2 seasons
Promotion. Kompany and Pace will be under more pressure than last season. Unfortunately, less credit in the bank, no feel good factor or honeymoon period.
Re: The next 2 seasons
I can’t fathom wanting to get to Wembley (twice) and to then lose on both occasions.
I can get wanting to go up via the play offs - it’s a brilliant way to go out, but it’s bloody awful for the loser.
If I could have my wish, it’d be to come straight back up with a record points total and to then do what we should have done this season, survive and progress.

Re: The next 2 seasons
Why on earth would you want to lose a play off final.
One of the most stupid things ever posted on this messageboard and I post a lot of sh1t on here.
I’d still be crying now if we lost to Sheff Utd in 09.

We all have our own dreams but this year for me the Premier League has been a horrible place to be.

But for me - this year - All the interest in football has been sucked out. I don't feel interested anymore. Maybe I'll feel different next year. Also my opening post is definitly not the most stupid thing posted on here.

Re: The next 2 seasons
We all have our dreams. I’ve always wanted to go out with Natalie Portman.
Our life would be like an endless reel of perfume adverts. We’d go romping through summer meadows, laughing and loving each other’s company, take sunset walks on the beach. That kind of thing. Constantly.
I’d casually introduce her as “Natalie” to my friends at social functions and act all blasé about it.
It’d be Heaven. However, when this all happens for me and Natalie, if Burnley lose twice at Wembley it would ruin everything. I just don’t think she’d get over that kind of disappointment.

Re: The next 2 seasons
Football doesn’t half term folk crazy, why would any football fan want to go to Wembley 2 seasons in a row and lose hahaha can’t believe what I’m reading.
I remember last season someone putting on X they hoped rovers went unbeaten till we played them at Ewood, we beat them to win league and stop them get promoted. I don’t want rovers to win another game of football ever

I think it was an April Fools.... Although it could be a double bluff. It might work in the Championship as there isn't a recognised 'so called top 6'Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 11:05 pmHave I not read that VAR is going into the Championship next season? Or was it an April Fools?

Re: The next 2 seasons
What about getting relegated from the Championship on the last game of the season away at Pompey.
Then the season after taking it to the wire again and going down to League 2 on the last day after getting beat by Cambridge infront of 13k at Turf Moor ??
Exciting stuff

I would suggest keep your ludicrous ideas of losing a play off final to yourself instead of brainwashing your sons and hopefully you haven’t damaged their young minds beyond repair just yetSutton-Claret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 9:37 pmBeen discussing with my lads (16 and 18) tonight the next 2 seasons... Re: The next 2 seasons
Is the OP on a wind up or?...
Losing two play-off finals on the bounce would be torturous. Can you not remember walking down Wembley Way after the final in 2009 and seeing how dejected the Sheff United fans were? I can remember thinking how bad must they be feeling right now, along with being pretty euphoric about our triumph.
Claret fans tend to have a pretty rosy view of the Championship now and rightly so given our past three season in the division have all been promotions but damn if you think it's been bad for us this season (which it has) imagine being a Rotherham fan?
Mid table - bottom Champ is horrid and teams get stuck there. We were going nowhere fast till Judas rocked up and if we let our recent standards slip too much and be accepting of mediocrity then that's where we will end back up.

Re: The next 2 seasons
I personally think we could struggle next season with the players that could be leaving at end of the season , hope I'm wrong but this season before recruitment i was really looking forward to it for what we achieved last season but it's been nothing short of abysmal to say the least ...
Re: The next 2 seasons
Looking forward to winnable away games.
Re: The next 2 seasons
I want us to win the Championship next season and then stay up and build again. Having said that I hate the PL and everything it's about, but we've made our bed and now need the income the PL brings. A funny old game.

Nope. I can't even think of who our player of the season should be.
