Burnley v B@stards play off final
If it ever happened would they move it somewhere closer ? Old Trafford/Etihad etc
I think they probably would.
I’d love to experience this game at some point in my life but asking as we win, imagine the build up and the day itself.

Re: Burnley v B@stards play off final
Wow just done a quick check and since the Play Off system was introduced in 1987, out of all 3 leagues there’s never been a final with 2 teams that class each other as there MAIN rivals.
How has this never happened in nearly 40 years !!

it would be at Wembley and it would be borderline unmanageable for the police, I hope it never happens.

Off the top of my head the closest was Swansea v Cardiff in 2011 but Cardiff lost the play off semi final to Reading.ClaretsPadiham wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 10:32 pmWow just done a quick check and since the Play Off system was introduced in 1987, out of all 3 leagues there’s never been a final with 2 teams that class each other as there MAIN rivals.

We did have Stockport v Rochdale in the 2008 League Two play off Final and a couple of Yorkshire derbies but not a game between two arch rivals. Closest was probably Brentford v Fulham in a West London Derby in the Championship play off final in 2020 behind closed doors due to COVID.

Ipswich v Norwich is a real possiblity this year if they can avoid each other in the semi final

No chance of Burnley v Blackburn in the playoff final next year. We'll be midtable, they'll go down.
Re: Burnley v B@stards play off final
I'm pretty sure if the Met can handle City and United fans travelling down for the FA Cup, and Millwall, Chelsea, and West Ham, they can more than look after us and Blackburn.

The working man who caused trouble years ago has been priced out of football. We are very much a family club nowadays.
You might get trouble on the Blackburn side as jealousy can stoke hatred, like we had when they were better?
But the only trouble I have seen between both sets of fans in this fixture has been on social media.

I would hate to play Rovers in a play off Final , hard to think what it would be on here if we were beaten at it .

Our fan base DO cause trouble. You’ve been very lucky to have seen none. I’ve seen plenty and some of it was at the youth cup game only a few years ago.
This game would have to be managed to the point that motorway services would need to be allocated to certain clubs and the rail network would be unmanageable carnage.
There would be plenty of trouble, and no mistake. I don’t want there to be, but alcohol, cocaine and a lack of brain power would guarantee it.

Do you seriously think that Burnley and Blackburn are a bigger issue for the bobbies than United and City travelling down from the same station?bobinho wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 6:58 pmWow!

I'd rather have a run in with Shadsworth's finest than a mob from Moss Side.

I went on the club organised buses to that one I think.
But I walked back to Blackburn train station after the FA Cup game. I thought we would go to Mill Hill but it was one long walk back.
No trouble at all.
Our fanbase has changed massively since we have been in the prem.

Different service stations has been the norm for many years if 2 neighbouring clubs have been travelling down to Wembley for any final.
Also its not unusual for the police to specify that fans also have to use different motorways when travelling to Wembley ie. M6/M1 and M40

There was plenty of trouble on the way back from Wembley in the service stations. Caused by sore losers Sheff Utd.Targetman wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 7:24 pmDifferent service stations has been the norm for many years if 2 neighbouring clubs have been travelling down to Wembley for any final.

There has been far more trouble with clubs like Wigan and Blackpool than Rovers over the years.
Hopefully we get to visit pubs in each others towns before the game and normalise the game.

We were sat in the CF stand so where were the away fans?
Re: Burnley v B@stards play off final
The safety issues would be such that it would likely be moved to Lusail stadium. The heat and police presence should limit the rioting

There’s 4,500 public order events every year in London that have to be policed to some capacity.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 10:42 pmit would be at Wembley and it would be borderline unmanageable for the police, I hope it never happens.
Would there be trouble between Burnley and Blackburn? Yeah, probably, but it’s just another football game.
Not a patch on the amount of resourcing and planning that goes into Notting Hill Carnival, NYE, Ceremonial events etc.

Was there another one on the Turf a bit earlier than that?
Otherwise my memory is very poor.
