Email addresses for an organisation

Post by ClaretTony » Wed Apr 10, 2024 2:46 pm

I know I've asked this before with some good advice received, although a long time ago, but if a small organisation wanted some email addresses with a standard name after the @ such as individual/department@standardname, where would you recommend?

you'll need to own a domain, does the company who hosts uptheclarets not include email mailboxes?

If the small company is registered with Microsoft, for example uses MS 365 for business (not sure about personal) you can get an email domain of your choosing, assuming available.

I have used names.co.uk previously free parking for many years and it has been great. You can choose any available domain you want.

Search for cheapest available domains. Check a few and see their prices for a number of years and sign up.

We still use UKReg/Fasthosts - simply because I began to use them in 2000 when I got into this. We've had no reason to move away.
They're low-cost, and reliable. GoDaddy are the highest profile operator in this space, I'm sure you've seen their ads on the perimeter boards. I gather they're also good.

You need to register a domain first. a .co.uk is a few quid per year. The registration gives you the 'right' to use that domain ("mycompany.co.uk") but doesn't include any services, such as email.

Most providers (including UKReg/Fasthosts) will give you the option to setup up email services, on that domain, and create users. You're likely to be charged a few pounds per year for each user that you create.

I’ve used GoDaddy a few times and never had any issues.
