Squad values

Post by Corway » Wed Apr 10, 2024 6:46 pm

According to Transfermarkt our squad value of 28 players (including our loanees) is £256m
That’s the 3rd lowest in the PL with Luton £125m and Sheffield £143m below us

Fulham are 4th on £338m Wolves £339m and Everton £345m followed by Bournemouth £352m and Forest £369m
Palace are next on £404m and Brentford £426m

Of our £256m - £66m will be lost by contract expiring in 2024 of 10 players (oldies plus loanees and Tresor and Brownhill (we also lose loanees not included in this sum Twine £3m and Weghorst £7m)

Loanee Zaroury £9m is likely to return exp 2028 and new signing Sambo is valued at £2m

So it looks like 20 players will be worth around £201m assuming we sell none.

Those for renewal in 2025 are
Redmond £7m Plus loanees not included in our total and who we will presumably try to sell
Roberts £7m
Obafemi £3m

Top Championship teams have squads with
Leicester £211m
Leeds £206m
Southampton 189m
Hull £104m
Sunderland £83m
Middsbro £85m

Ipswich only worth £50m

In summary maybe things will be alright next year if there’s no summer turmoil or dash for cash

How much are Trafford, Ramsey and Amdouni valued at? More importantly, Tresor?

My guess for the 4 is around £70m and it's a massive concern.

After this season, there may be a few decimal points missing from that list.

Wow, the bind moggles!
This took me back to when we paid 1m for Ian Moore and I thought "oh gosh, that's a lot of money, it's more than I earn in a month!!" That must've felt like £20m for Stockport in 2001 for a striker who "worked his socks off" but didn't score many goals.

Transfermarkt values are just a few people's opinions.

Seems a reasonable list.

No doubts some of those values are fair, some a little high (Trafford) and some a little low (Odobert). If we don’t get a bidder, we don’t sell. The problem comes is if there is a clause like Leeds had which lets loads go out on loan. That’s my bigger worry.

I can’t see us selling the likes of Ramsey. More likely in the league below we build a team around him and try to bulk him up. Same with Al Dakhil. To be honest, I struggle to see the league below coping with us, if VK remains.

Transfermarkt values are just a few people's opinions.
You could say that about anything in the world.
It’s like saying “anybody can change anything on Wikipedia “, until, 2 hours later, someone changes it back.

🤷🤷

It's not at all like saying that. Wikipedia requires sources, Transfermarkt values are literally just a few people's opinions.

I think Moore was the Championship's top scorer at the time we signed him. I was beyond excited, mainly because he was great on Championship Manager for me the season before!

I think the fees we get may surprise some.
