All there in one match.
All there in one match.
Why we are going down.
Individual errors
Missing easy chances
Good build up that comes to nothing once we get near their goal!
Not shooting when presented with openings.

You forgot about one of the forward line trotting about with minimum effort.
Re: All there in one match.
Muric doing his utmost to show why there were concerns about him at this level. From the sublime to the ridiculous.

It’s a tricky one. The good that he brings is not only great to watch, it also helps the team to progress play far better. The bad that he brings is really, really bad.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 5:47 pmYet the experts on here wanted him in.

We are a much better team with him in it than with the previous keeper. Unfortunately the last two games have been killers for Muric in two moments.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 5:47 pmYet the experts on here wanted him in.

Trafford has made plenty of saves. He wasn't ready for the PL, but Muric definitely wasn't the answer either.AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 5:56 pmShow me the saves Trafford made that Muric does or picking out a pass 50 yards up the pitch or fitting our system like Muric does

Just two off top of my head - but his dilly dallying with the ball and time taken to pick a pass ( which was more often than not a bad one that put us under pressure) also stifled the entire side.

Traff made a similar mistake to Aro's against Everton when away at Luton earlier in the season - it just spooned wide instead.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 5:52 pmShow me a mistake from Trafford that was worse than the ones Muric has made in the last two games please!
That also isn't the point, nor has it ever been.
The arg, at least my arg from the start was:
- Muric (and other players) didn't do anything to warrant being dropped for the opening run of games, upon promotion you ride that wave for as long as possible.
- That if we want to be a more expansive passing team then our best bet of doing it was with Muric.
I never said it would be plain sailing and of course we would have hairy moments - that's how I expected the season to go... A little bit more like Bielsa's first season in the Prem with Leeds, lots of 4-3s / 3-2s etc etc.
I wanted a change from Traff because we were playing dross football, could barely get out of our own half and would end up losing anyway.

Re: All there in one match.
We've played much better with him in the team, first 30 mins today we were excellent and the game should have been over by half time - not any of our keepers fault that JBL missed a sitter or Forfana can't score again from within the 6 yard box with an empty goal. Dreadful mistakes every last one of them and all costly.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 5:47 pmYet the experts on here wanted him in.

Re: All there in one match.
There was a point in the first half where Brighton were attacking down our right side, a 2v1 in favour of Brighton which left Assignon with an impossible task. Their player cut inside and fired a shot on target. Where was odobert? 30 yards away strolling back. It isn’t good enough and it’s not a one off either. Palace away he was ******* useless.

Odobert is mainly doing my head in with bottling tackles. He is playing like someone who wants out in the summer and doesn't want to get injured between now and the of the season.

Re: All there in one match.
The thing that annoyed me the most (apart from their goal) was the comparison between the ball control of their forwards when the ball was played to feet and ours who, more often than not, gave away possession. In the paraphrased words of George Best: “they can trap it further than I can kick it”.

The mistakes at the back is on the manager.
Play with fire you get burnt. A little bit more 'pragmatism' and we'd be in a much better spot.

Re: All there in one match.
The sheer tactical naivety of VK is almost staggering . To try and take on Utd in an open attacking “ cup style “ match was a huge gamble . We made endless mistakes , got v lucky on occasion , and committing 10 men forward was nigh on suicidal . A touch os SD pragmatism would go a long long way .
That said ,apart from poor finishing we gave a v poor UTD a decent game . Onana put some great saves in too, though if he hadn’t been an idiot they’d have likely won .

We had 53% possession, 7 shots on target and came away from Old Trafford with a point. I think VK got something right. An SD 10 men behind the ball bore fest with our current squad would have seen us very heavily beaten. Only in my opinion of course

Maybe on hindsight it'd be better playing with the extra midfielder and then bringing one of Fofana/Foster on to play two up top together, but I fully understand why VK did that with United's make shift back line.

Should we form our very own happy clappy club?
I quite enjoyed the courage Vinny showed in taking on Manyoo toe to toe, I thought it made for a game that had a bit of everything and I won't need to trim my finger nails for another week.
Glass almost full.
