Re: Cole Palmer
Was he not sold because he’s a home grown player so therefore his entire transfer fee counts as a profit as far as the financial regulations go? I’m sure Pep will sleep easy.
As an aside, Palmer made his professional debut against Burnley back in 2020.

Re: Cole Palmer
There was a clip of Pickford after the last Euros where he went back home to see his family etc and he came across as a very grounded, down to earth lad. He’s a moaner on the pitch and a bit of a character but I think the game needs a bit of that.

Imagine if we could somehow shoe horn Palmer, Foden, Saka, Bellingham and Kane into a side

Deli Alli had never noticed previously that Cole Palmer had a striker’s instinct, even though he is level on 19 goals with Ollie Watkins.

You know things are not going well when Dyche goes for triple sub at HT.
Worrying one for him this game as these are the type of teams he’d usually relish playing - obviously Palmer is on fire but there’s been a lot of naive performances from that Chelsea team this season and he’d be looking to make it as difficult as possible in the past. Just doesn’t seem to be there with this team.

Just for a bit of fun:
Palmer 37 goal contributions in 35 games
Saka 30 goal contributions in 37 games
Foden 30 goal contributions in 36 games
Bellingham 29 goal contributions in 31 games
Kane 49 goal contributions in 38 games
That is some unbelievable attacking talent at our disposal for this summer

Re: Chelsea v Everton
I think it was given for a culmination of penalty appeals. The ref clearly gave it for the second and took his chances that one of the challenges was a foul.

I didn’t see a foul in there….. but then I thought Michael Keane’s was a red card. Maybe VAR don’t work Mondays.

If they sack Dyche after this I hope Kompany gets on the phone to Billy Mercer.

Stood on his heel, but I think ref gave it for second one and then got off the hook by way of the first one being the actual foul.
Sky making out that he was playing advantage and brought it back for first foul, but there’s no way you play advantage when the ball is then played back out of the box.

Re: Cole Palmer
Not sure City have any issues with PSR though? And if they did, sure they could e found another way of satisfying it without selling one of the English footballs best talents.
Re: Cole Palmer
Wish I could agree with you on that but conceding 5 twice and 4 at home and scoring one per game,. Plus conceding late goals and committing hari kari and sadly suffering some terrible officiating sadly we do. Oh and some bizarre management decisions on team selection.DCWat wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 8:53 pmUnfortunately, they’ve plenty of games against sides as bad, if not worse, than they are. Forest, Brentford, Sheff United all at home and a trip to Luton too. They’ll pick up enough not to worry about us (or Luton) catching them.
We really, really shouldn’t be going down, this season.

Re: Cole Palmer
I’m not entirely sure where Man City stand in regards to PSR, but selling Palmer was more financially beneficial than selling an equivalently valuable player who wasn’t an academy product.
Palmer’s having a great season and looks a real player, but City have a lot of them so I’m not sure how much they’ll regret selling him. I think it’s probably a lot easier to stand out in this Chelsea side than Man City’s too.

Re: Chelsea v Everton
This Everton side are better than most of Dyche’s Burnley sides. Particularly in central midfield and upfront with Calvert Lewin. This thread is abusing them but they will stay up easily. They just aren’t pretty.
Dyche has done well with the resources at his disposal. This league is brutal.

I would say our defence isn’t world class, but we still have some elite players in that back line.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 9:47 pmJust when we seem to have a lack of defensive quality
Stones, Walker (world class in my opinion). Then Maguire, Chillwell, Shaw, Guehi, Lewis, Tomori are all top players.
Depending on how we set up we could blow opposition teams away this summer.

I thought when the ref gave the pen, he seemed to point to the penalty spot and the area where Palmer went down.
Re: Chelsea v Everton
Fair bit of cash in this Everton team..didn’t we draw against Chelsea 2-2 with ten? I think Everton fans want Dyche gone.

Re: Cole Palmer
Chester Perry will have to come on and correct me but pretty sure they’re regularly profitable and have no PSR worries. I just don’t see how an academy player sold for £40m and full profit taken would materially benefit them vs a sale at a similar level deducting the purchase price . If they were near the wire, fine, but I don’t think there was any pressure to sell.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 9:44 pmI’m not entirely sure where Man City stand in regards to PSR, but selling Palmer was more financially beneficial than selling an equivalently valuable player who wasn’t an academy product.

He’s 21, near top scorer in the league and has a decade at the top level together. For £42.5m I’d say that’s a monumental error. Although clearly less impactful when you have a squad full of similarly talented players.

Looks to me like he may have lost the dressing room with the rot setting in during the `Portugal trip. Doubt some of his back room staff will be helping matters,

They, or 777, have to repay £160m of loans by 5am tomorrow morning. If not…

Re: Chelsea v Everton
It’s only really if they go in to admin they’ll lose more points this season. I’d say that’s unlikely, but they’re in incredible trouble whatever happens this year. They need this 777 deal to fall through and an immediate knight in shining armour to emerge.
