Re: Jrod
It’s a rumour, the version I saw on a very dubious page on fb.
He’ll be going somewhere, hopefully like barnes he gets a lucrative 2 year deal for himself.

Re: Jrod
He's got over 6 offers from CURRENT championship clubs, most notably the one reported - Stoke (there is a lot of legs in this)
Given his ties with his agent and Stoke
He's also got offers from abroad, but i can't say where. it's 2 different countries though
Knowing Jay, he probably hasnt a clue what he wants to do yet himself
1 thing for sure is no matter what our outcome this season - he wont be here next

It'd be pretty cool if they all ended up together at Charlotte.

Re: Jrod
I believe we tried to push him out on loan at the end of January, maybe Jack Cork too.
Re: Jrod
Unbelievable. I'd still be starting both if it was up to me. I'm pretty sure they'd have helped us have more points than our current pathetic tally.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 10:12 pmI believe we tried to push him out on loan at the end of January, maybe Jack Cork too.

Re: Jrod
I don’t think we are deliberately setting out to lose games, but there seems a real naive hope that raw kids can perform at the same level as senior pros who have seem it and done it. It seems like a kind of inverted snobbery, the older one is the worse they must be. Football doesn’t work like that.

Re: Jrod
Jack was such a key player in the first half of last season but really has been sidelined. Just three sub appearances this season in the league after 74, 89 and 89 minutes. Wasn’t even on the bench against Brighton.

Re: Jrod
I would imagine the club was trying to loan out JBG as well in Jan.
Re: Jrod
Starting both in the PL? Based on what? Sentiment?
Cork and Jay Rod’s best seasons were in the last decade.

I assume by your capitalisation you mean some of those offers are from promotion contenders. I know I’d prefer him to Bamford, Vardy and Armstrong!ISpeds00 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 10:04 pmHe's got over 6 offers from CURRENT championship clubs, most notably the one reported - Stoke (there is a lot of legs in this)

If I were him I’d go and join Westy and Scott across the pond though.
Will be gutted to see him go but also feel it’s the right time.

Re: Jrod
Based on them being very good footballers still. Cork was excellent in both of our previous two seasons. I personally thought he was better than Cullen for the first half of last season and was very unlucky to be dropped. I could be wrong but I think I remember him being top of the player of the year ratings on here at 1 point?
As for Rodriguez, I think he offers us a lot when we play to his strengths which is playing into his feet and chest. He gives us something we don't have but people cant see it just because he's slow and doesn't score a lot of goals.
He'd be the first striker on the teamsheet for me upfront out of our current options at the moment, with Foster next to him.

Re: Jrod
If he's good enough for Stoke in the Championship, then maybe he'll be good enough for us in the same division?
Or is it the length of contract that's important?

Rodriguez being a very good footballer still, based on what? He couldn’t control a simple pass or make a simple pass in his recent games. Doesn’t look a goal threat at all either.Goliath wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 11:09 pmBased on them being very good footballers still. Cork was excellent in both of our previous two seasons. Ha. His touch is fantastic and probably his main attribute.
He's looked a goal threat all season. Chelsea header hit the bar, 2 or 3 offside goals, chances against Brighton and wolves all off the top of my head. Even when he came on the other day he found space at the edge of the box fir the half chance with the side footed effort.
Genuinely think during his second spell he's been one of the most underrated players we've ever had. Up there with Steven Fletcher.

Re: Jrod
Keep him and offer a player coach role
Unlike some we have he understands what it means to be playing in the top flight for Burnley.

Nah he hasn't shown anything near good enough for a new contract
Let's face it, if he was called Jason Roderickson he wouldn't be getting a look in

Re: Jrod
I don’t think you need experience of the Championship to do well in it. Look at our best players last season, they were all youngsters.
I’ve said it many times, but if Jay wasn’t a local lad he’d have been shipped out years ago, and rightly so. Remove the sentiment and it’s a terrible signing (second time round) when you look at his overall cost to us.

Re: Jrod
Been a great player probably peaking at Southampton. He showed at Chelsea he still had the control, touch and vision, but sadly at his age the pace and sharpness are no longer there, nor the consistency. I hope he can extend his career-I think Stoke could be a tough ask for him and they wont show him our loyalty, so maybe the American League could be a perfect way to end his career. Lets hope he makes the right choice as he has been a smashing advocate for our club

Exactly, lack of experience cost us heavily this season, and may do so next season.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 1:17 amWe are living dangerously if we let all the experience walk out of the door, it's essential in the Championship imho.
We need at least another few experienced pros besides Charlie (hoping he stays).

Re: Jrod
He'd should definitely move abroad.
Can't see him doing much in a very very poor Stoke side.

Re: Jrod
I love when fans suggest offering a player a coaching role. It happened with Barnes, Heaton the other day I think, and it's happened here. What makes Rodriguez a good coach? Is he interested in being a coach? Is he qualified?

Re: Jrod
He said in the recent Ben Foster podcast interview that he had no interest in going into coaching or management.
Unless the rumoured interest from Stoke is very recent I was told that so far there’s only been one club approached him. It’s not a British club.
It’s still early though and I am pretty sure he will find a club. He wants to play on for a couple of years at least he said.

Re: Jrod
I am not sure they get a say in if it is something they would want to do, some seem to think the club should just tell them they are now a coach.
I have never heard a fan of any other club say keep him as a coach, we would have about 50 coaches had we kept all those we should ave made a coach.
