Kompany celebrating with the fans
Kompany celebrating with the fans
Just saw this on sky sports news.
Celebrating like we saw at the back end of last season.
Do you take the view of we haven't had much to celebrate so he's taking a rare opportunity to enjoy it or given the season we've just endured, he should have applauded the fans briefly and walked off?

I imagine he thinks that after the win we've got an outside chance of staying up and he wants others to believe the sameNeil wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 9:51 amJust saw this on sky sports news.

If you don't enjoy the good moments in football I'm not sure there's much point to it.

Not sure that it was calculated at all, more likely just an outpouring of immediate emotion, following a performance and result that currently increases our survival chances.

The fans in the away end enjoyed it. He seemed to enjoy it.

As NottsClaret said, if you don’t enjoy the good moments in football - especially in a season like ours - what’s the point?

Re: Kompany celebrating with the fans
pretty sure everyone in the away end jumped around and celebrated when the goals went in, brilliant that Kompany did it after the game - it's going to be vital that there is a connection there going forward especially when the going is tough.

Re: Kompany celebrating with the fans
I know. Celebrating a win is an outright public display of positivity, and it really shouldn't be allowed. Also, while he was busy celebrating, did he give a thought to how his action might upset the negative nannies? No, he damn well didn't. Such irresponsible behaviour has no place at our club!

A season full of naivity, odd selections and substitutes that have all but taken us down. Let's hope it won't. If so one of the greatest escapes ever.agreenwood wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 7:24 pmThe fans in the away end enjoyed it. He seemed to enjoy it.

Re: Kompany celebrating with the fans
I didn't read too much into it, I don't expect the manager not to celebrate a win and I did think it was a talking point.
I seem to be in a minority of one, which is fine, but when you're sitting in the bottom three you don't celebrate like you've just won the league. For my money anyway.
When you've made as many errors as Kompany has this season I would expect more restraint.
If that's the standards we're happy with then it's been a great season.

Pretty sure he wasn't celebrating the season so far, just yesterday's result.

I’ve been to about 20 games this season. Saturday was the second time I’ve seen us win in person.summitclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 9:37 pmA season full of naivity, odd selections and substitutes that have all but taken us down. Let's hope it won't. If so one of the greatest escapes ever.
Apologies for celebrating. I should have been berating Kompany for looking too happy.

Re: Kompany celebrating with the fans
Fair enough, however, I am struggling to get past the surrender of midfield for months on end and decisions such as leaving Cullen put for so long and playing anyone at left back apart from the only one we have.agreenwood wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 9:58 pmI’ve been to about 20 games this season. Re: Kompany celebrating with the fans
So you should be celebrating, as was I. You support Burnley and you should be over the moon. But you didn't guide us into the position we're in.agreenwood wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 9:58 pmI’ve been to about 20 games this season. Saturday was the second time I’ve seen us win in person.

I would expect our manager to give a defiant fist pump as if to say this isn't over yet.
God knows what Roy Keane would have said had it been on sky
Like I said, I thought it was a talking point.
Maybe I did read too much into it
Re: Kompany celebrating with the fans
I think he deserves a bit of grace after the championship season especially. He got the team wrong with the goalie especially but I think we have been unfortunate with var and not getting what we deserve on the whole.summitclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 9:37 pmA season full of naivity, odd selections and substitutes that have all but taken us down. Re: Kompany celebrating with the fans
Using Keane to back a strange point about what Kompany should do as a manager is a bit weird
Re: Kompany celebrating with the fans
It was in reference to when Villa stayed up on the last day a few years ago and the players were wildly celebrating.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 7:41 amUsing Keane to back a strange point about what Kompany should do as a manager is a bit weird
He said something along the lines of they shouldn't be celebrating an awful season and going on like they'd won something.
I really didn't think this was a very controversial topic.
I didn't come in with Kompany is a ******.
I just didn't think it was appropriate to celebrate and give it the big un like that when you're second from bottom and he hasn't done his job well this season.
Nearly every response was sarcasm or rudeness.
It's no surprise that semi regular posters don't comment more often when met with such disdain.

Re: Kompany celebrating with the fans
I guess that might also be an example of how Keane as a manager didn't seem to have good personal relationships with his players, ultimately leading to his demise as a club manager. Perhaps Keane didn't lead from the front with his players right behind him. Maybe when he turned round to see where they were, they were nowhere to be seen.

Wins are to be celebrated. Suspect it was an outpouring of relief and joy on his part

Re: Kompany celebrating with the fans
Keane is another one who is only happy when it rains. I once read about his bedroom when he first went to Forest - he paint it black. At the end of the day, when we lose everybody hurts, so it's only right that we all have a celebration when we win.

be the usual arm chair fans moaning about this.
i was there, and enjoyed it like the rest of the burnley fans.
find owt to moan about some people. should have been a slow clap and then slowly file out.

He’s celebrating the fact we’ve won a game and given him an outside chance of staying in the premier league. We were dead and buried a few weeks ago. I’d be celebrating too.

If it was the last game of the season against Forest and we won to stay up do you expect Vincent just to walk off or celebrate , i think i know which one he would do it's all being part of the moment. At least like a lot of mods have said it gives us a slight chance to try and pull it off. UTC..

Leave him be if he wants to celebrate & make a song & dance about beating the bottom placed side. Some might consider it more fitting celebrating when the jobs done but if he wants to wear egg on his face so be it.

Re: Kompany celebrating with the fans
Last season's celebrations were fantastic at times. I don't blame him for wanting to bring some of that back for the players and the fans.
What's the point of following football if you can't celebrate when you win.
