Relegation
I would bet my mortgage on us avoiding relegation.
Dyche will get it right,it may well be ugly at times, but we will survive the drop.
There are at least 3 teams worse than us,and i can't see that changing any time soon.

Re: Relegation
I can see it changing in January when some of those teams go and chuck some more money around, coupled with managerial changes at possibly Sunderland, Hull and Boro just to name 3.
Just to clarify, we need our transfer business done early in January to give ourselves a proper chance, no dicking around waiting until deadline day, even if we have to pay that little bit more.

Re: Relegation
The next 7 games will give a good gauge of where we are at.
HOME
Everton
Palace
M City
Bournemouth
AWAY
Man Utd
West Brom
Stoke
A couple of games both home and away where we can get some wins on the board.
9 points shouldn't be too much to ask, and should be the minimum expectation with maybe a unexpected point or 3 in there.
Would set us up for a decent/winnable set of home games and the transfer window.

Re: Relegation
Based on our non performance at Southampton I think we will be lucky to get 2 points out of that lot.
Re: Relegation
Then base it on the performances against Liverpool, Watford and Arsenal, and you might think we can get slightly more than 2.

Re: Relegation
If the players had that attitude then they would be no point in playing for any points lets throw the towel in now shall we
On a personal note I think we can take 12 points from them game's and that would be my realistic target any more than that my attitude would be a its a bonus, what about that Blackrod.

Re: Relegation
Cannot realistically see us getting anywhere near 12 points. Think it would be a hell of a feat.
Everton - Challenging for Europe DRAW, Palace comfortable mid table side (close) WIN, City LOSS, B'mouth (mid table) DRAW
Man U LOSS, West Brom (would hope no t expect) WIN, Stoke (are starting to get their act together now, will end upper mid table) LOSS
I make that 8 points, and a few of those points rely on us really being at it. Anything more than 8 is def over what we've shown so far for me.

Re: Relegation
Well that return still keeps the momentum going for a point a game mentality but we need more than that and that is what I would be targeting-
It's not impossible and this football club as surprised me time and time again over the years we need to aim higher if not we will be caught short of the required level.

Iv'e seen enough from us this season to suggest we will be playing in the premier next season.
This is only an opinion though.

10 more wins and we are safe. I fancy us at home against anyone from 8th down.
We could lose pretty much all our away games ( which we won't )

Re: Relegation
We are a couple of injuries short of disaster. We are better than Hull and that is nothing to be proud about, their club is in turmoil.
We are on a par with Boro. Sunderland will be ok, once they get over their injuries. Unless we spend big in January we are nailed on to go back down with Hull and Boro.

One game at a time.
We stank the place out at Southampton but Dyche has proved time and again that he can get something out of the side come the next game. 3 points against Everton isn't totally impossible that's for sure.

Sadly Stoke didnt get the result reversed on appeal so the 3 points stayed with us.JohnMac wrote:Unfortunately all those Clubs will be looking for a maximum return against us and I don't see any of their Managers losing much sleep, Man City being the only game we won last time around.

Also Bournemouth wasn't in our league then either.
But other than that, your spot on..

I'd certainly take a repeat of the last results against those sides. 7 points would be a good return but 9 has to be the aim.

Re: Relegation
If we can get 9 points from those 7 games I'll be delighted. Very hard to predict how we'll go at this stage mind. There's a five games there that to some extent or another you'd say we'd be targeting points from. Bearing in mind the run of away games in February, you'd say we need to get at least a respectable return from those 5 games.

Re: Relegation
I don't think we'll concede many goals at home. That means we'll be in most games, even against the better teams as this season's results have already proven. Hopefully we can get our away system to click and we've got a decent chance of avoiding the drop. In fact, if we can maintain our home form then we won't need to pick up any points away from home, that's highly unlikely though.
Re: Relegation
It's a tough league but its interesting to note as it stands we've played six of the top nine and that will be seven after next week so all in all i think we have done better than anyone would have ever expected us to do UTC

Re: Relegation
Sunderland already look in real trouble - last season they appointed Big Sam under similar circumstances and he performed a minor miracle primarily by getting a huge return out of Defoe. Moyes really doesn't look equipped to repeat that, regardless of getting injured players back.
Hull are getting into one of those downward spirals it's difficult to reverse - a little like us from January 2010 onwards.
There's really not a lot to choose between the likes of ourselves, Swansea, West Brom and Boro. maybe a couple of others, in terms of ability to take points off each other.
Our defensive record at TM is key, score at home and we've always got a chance. Of the three seasons we've been in the PL this is the best equipped we've been.In 13/14 both West Brom and Palace made season changing managerial appointments which steered them away from danger. Don't think the calibre of manager to pull that off will be available to this season's strugglers.
Agree with Barton's Baggage on this.

My Mackem mate is already resigned to them going down.
Fans are losing patience with Moyes and he isn't motivating the players nor inspiring confidence in the fans.
Lot of mumblings up there that Ellis Short is considering reappointing Sam

Re: Relegation
Come January we're going to struggle to keep hold of Keane it would appear. However, if we continue to take a point a game and sit lower mid-table then we can be more confident about keeping the other players likely to make the difference. Tom no doubt will attract interest but confident he'll stay. As long as we're stable with a couple of additions going into February think we'll use the experience from last time to see us through.

Re: Relegation
In 14/15 we probably would have lost that game yesterday as Everton would have gone on and won the game after equalising. It shows how far we have come when 3 of our previous starting lineup are unavailable and we get a result still. This season we are harder to create lots of good chances against and Heaton is a better keeper too.

We must have been extremely lucky to get double his points prediction in 2 games rather than the 7 on offer.
1 more win would be a good return from that mini run of fixtures, but now it's not impossible to be 10+ points better off come the end.
I'll not move the goal posts though, 9 has to be the target.
