Oh it's on Sky Sports. I thought it was on the inferior one. Might flick between the snooker and this.
We can still finish above Newcastle meaning more prize money.

Rafa loves Liverpool and has a strong bond with their support if any game is going to be thrown it's this one

Re: Come on Newcastle
I agree with FF. I want Newcastle to lose this and again next week, then a win for us v Arsenal (not at all out of the question given their away form) would mean an extra £2 million for BFC.

Re: Come on Newcastle
Surprising that some would prefer Newcastle to win, meaning we can't finish higher up the table.
Newcastle losing is our only chance of finishing in 14th.

Couldnt care less
Re: Come on Newcastle
I don’t think the Newcastle fans will be happy if Rafa is intentionally setting his team up to lose against them, seeing as it was Liverpool that effectively stopped Newcastle winning the league all those years ago.

1-1 good game good game as Brucie would say.
Scousers could be a man down also.

Yeah, strange that one. The ref has given Liverpool a big let off then. The deliberate handball happened first so should be a pen and down to 10?tiger76 wrote:1-1 good game good game as Brucie would say.

Apparently under VAR the goal would stand but it would still be a red card.Goodclaret wrote:Yeah, strange that one. The ref has given Liverpool a big let off then. The deliberate handball happened first so should be a pen and down to 10?
Typical Arnold has just got an assist when he shouldn't be on the park.

Re: Come on Newcastle
Surely cannot be a red card if an offence is not penalised, apart from violent conduct.
Re: Come on Newcastle
From the BBC, I think at present
"Fifa's laws say a red card in that instance is not a punishment for the handball itself, but because it would prevent a goal being scored. Since Newcastle scored the rebound, they weren't denied a goal."
What happens if the Newcastle player fluffs the rebound? Refs allowed to then call for a Penalty and sending off?

He’s very good, but when he came up against a truly world class side like Barcelona, he was found wanting a little bit.SussexDon1inIreland wrote:Why wasn’t that foul by Dijk not given?

That's a ridiculous rule. I can understand the advantage and therefore the goal given but surely you can't go back and give a red card after the goal has been scored?tiger76 wrote:Apparently under VAR the goal would stand but it would still be a red card.

On another note, I think Newcastle will do well next season, they do play some very good football and, despite Rafa's complaints, they have some very good players.

Re: Come on Newcastle
I'm only going off what the 5 Live commentators stated, this is one of the issues with introducing VAR,unless the laws are clear either way,you will still have controversy.Goodclaret wrote:That's a ridiculous rule. If any referees know the specific letter of the law, then by all means correct me,i would have thought the same if the advantage is played and a goal results, you can't then mete out further punishment.
Re: Come on Newcastle
Newcastle have been excellent. Coherent football even with a lack of possession - something we could do with learning from more.
Rafa Benitez is a top 5 manager, possibly top 3, in the league

Sorry tiger, I wasn't having a go at you I just think it would be silly for that to happen. I agree VAR will still create controversy but it will certainly catch the absolute clangers, I'm still all for it.tiger76 wrote:I'm only going off what the 5 Live commentators stated, this is one of the issues with introducing VAR,unless the laws are clear either way,you will still have controversy.

Re: Come on Newcastle
Salah having to go off that's a blow,he must be a doubt for Tuesday now.
Re: Come on Newcastle
Oof. Nasty looking bump on Salah then, clattered by the keeper then appeared to bang his head on the ground. Looks like he's going off on a stretcher.

Re: Come on Newcastle
there we see the difference, Liverpool have to start with Sturridge and have to being on Origi, Man City can start with Sterling and bring on Sane

Re: Come on Newcastle
I'm in favour of VAR myself, but VAR alone will still be open to interpretation as we've seen in some of the CL games.Goodclaret wrote:Sorry tiger, I wasn't having a go at you I just think it would be silly for that to happen. I was under the impression VAR was supposed to correct clear and obvious errors, the problem will come if officials rely on VAR for any minor decisions,as they see this as an easier option.
