I've had a little fun bet but I can't back Hunter as he really is dead so not showing in the running. after careful consideration, thinking and possibly linking a few things I've gone for..

Come on chaps let's be having your picks/theories! I'm leaning towards either Kate or Hastings. Ryan to be the new caddy. Think there may have been a few "H" 's. Might still be

As Dunbar's in the next two series,he's hardly likely to be "H".

Come on.
Let's be 'avin you....who's watching then?
Cheese board, grapes, rivita & a tin of Stella at the ready.
H only sings when he's winning! (If we're sure it's a him...)

Re: Line of Duty
I don’t want to read the entire thread as I’m spoiler averse. However, with the hype around Line of Duty I thought I’d give it a go. The first episode was fairly standard BBC stuff, nothing much happened, no real engagement (for me) with the characters. I tried to get through the second episode but even less happened. I assume I should keep going? Cos so far it’s distinctly underwhelming.JamesSherbourne wrote:Just finished all 4 series of Line of Duty - What a brilliant series. Anybody watched anything similar that they reccomend ? Can’t wait for the new series in April.

The previous series endings were far better. That’s where the disappointment came in.

Re: Line of Duty
It was a question so I'm not sure how I could be wrong? It was a question because I lost interest in this programme after series 1 (or during 2 maybe) so am not familiar with its current style or this series. I caught the last ten minutes while waiting for the news so knew what had happened. I take it you weren't expecting to be strung along. That might be why you're tetchy.Bordeauxclaret wrote:As usual, thatdbwrong.

What a let down. Loopholes all through it. Why would anybody give permission for someone to record a conversation and then not wonder why she hadn’t put the device on the desk?
How does dot, dot, dot, dot become 4 Hs?
So we are left with; there is still a H out there. Big deal.

Re: Line of Duty
Another series beckons!
It was as though the writer had put so much effort, into the build up, that the deadline loomed, with no time to fathom a decent set of trails.
Never mind!

Certainly, Carmichaels full involvement was left unexplained and mysterious.....

Re: Line of Duty
It was a bit disjointed again regarding plots and explanations. But a person or persons are good at being undercover so easy to portray themselves as something else that's all I'm saying.
I was a little disappointed with last night's finale but I understood why they did it like that. Still think it was a decent finale even if it didn't satisfy my need for there being one corrupt officer being the main man/woman being H. I think Hastings is still up to something as the laptop and porn excuse is weak and bullshite IMO. That leads his character open to further exploitation down the line or not if they deceide they don't want to.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the final scene. Hastings in the cemetery with Corbetts widow and a brown envelope in his hand. Re: Line of Duty
It's not a finale, so shouldn't be seen that way. Everything has been left open to possibility so they can sell another series (or two!). All got a bit stupid in my opinion, but nothing surpasses the stupid story line where that cop played by Thandy Newton watches her own arm drop off!

Re: Line of Duty
This is one of the problems with tv drama, currently. The British public has been raised on a beginning, a middle and an end. Now we never get the end. Everything appears to be left open for another series, whether we get one or not. Surely a talented writer could end one series conclusively and start the following series anew, even if the events unfolding are continous.boatshed bill wrote:It's not a finale, so shouldn't be seen that way. How did she get witness protection? Surely to get WP she’d have to give evidence that led to convictions, basically bringing down the whole network of corruptionDarnhill Claret wrote:She knew too much, but they failed to silence her so she is now ‘in witness protection’.
Likewise Lisa McQueen got immunity and a new identity for telling them who killed Corbett (a bloke who is now dead).

Corbett was Hastings’ son. That’s why he broke down on hearing the news that Corbett was the son of the woman CHIS in NI. He’s giving Corbett’s widow £50k as he feels responsible/guilty in some way.Tricky Trevor wrote:Surprised nobody has mentioned the final scene. But the original 50K was never his. Is it the other 50k as Moffat said he had given him 100k? but this would make him bent.Carport wrote:Corbett was Hastings’ son. Re: Line of Duty
From research Hastings was born in 1963, Corbett was born in 1979. It's possible but unlikely that 16 year old Hastings fathered a son.Carport wrote:Corbett was Hastings’ son. It's ethically questionable, but then so was rescinding the Reg 15 on Maneet Bindra when she was killed.
Hastings can't be H. If he turns out to be H then i'll flip my **** because who has the IT knowledge to route his internet traffic through multiple VPNs but doesn't know how to download BleachBit to erase the metadata from a hard drive or SSD?
Also, Steve's explanation that he noticed something strange from a freeze-frame of Dot's dying declaration makes no sense since it means from a freeze-frame he noticed someone moving their hand to signal morse code. Just how did he notice that exactly?
Aside from that i thought it was a really good finale to the season.

Re: Line of Duty
I found the final episode of the latest season to be flaky at best, and the Morse code part utterly laughable. However, I'm willing to cut them some slack as it's been an excellent show to date.
