Ball boys

Post by beddie » Wed May 08, 2019 8:34 am

Been saying as have others for sometime that they can play a big part if they are trained and organised, from slowing the game down to getting the team on the front foot. Well done to the young man at Liverpool last night.

Bring them back as it must be good to get youngsters involved with the club I would have thought, and please no money to the club from the kids parents.

Are they always all boys, I'm sure I've seen a girl before on the Turf?
Also many are not just young kids like the old days, often youths or even later teens for those reasons listed in the OP.

I'm not quite comfortable people assuming their gender.

I'm sure there's a none gender specific way to describe them.

So you believe there's a place for this sort of behaviour in our society?

Hopefully unlike racism and homophobia, it wont take generations for people to realise it's not ok to label or discriminate people.

It's your children, family and friend I feel sorry for if you don't care about these serious issues.

Where does mental health appear in your table of things that don't matter and we should just crack on and tell people they isn't a real problem?

Yeah not bad ideas, but maybe just ball person is enough.

I know firefighters, police officers and refuse collectors took to the name change easy enough.

But suppose there's still people out there thinking we play in the premiership.

I have one thank you, a very good one I believe, but it's one where discrimination, sexism and racism has no place.

If having "a life" means these things are accepted or a blind eye should be turned regards to them, then I'm happy to be labelled as not having one...

Funny that regular users of a football message board would suggest another user get a life.

If common consensus is to be believed we only lump the ball into the stands, so they mainly sit and watch the ball soar over them.

Liverpool instructed their ball boys to speed up and get the ball back into a players arms asap. Look how it worked out for them with the 4th goal.
Ours look at the ball as if its nothing to do with them. Get some urgency into them!

It’s not urgency it’s having an understanding of the game, sometimes a little fumble or awkward bounce to slow the game down is just as useful!!
